The Death Dealer by Heather Graham (audio excerpt)
2008/12/26
In this episode, bestselling author HEATHER GRAHAM reads to us from her book THE DEATH DEALER!
Genevieve O'Brien knows all about nightmares. She survived for two months as the prisoner of a deranged killer. Now a new menace is stalking the streets of New York. The media are buzzing about the Poe Killings, a string of homicides mirroring the author's macabre stories. Almost without exception, the victims have been members of a literary society devoted to the master of crime fiction—and Genevieve's own mother may be next. Spooked by the bizarre slayings, Genevieve turns to P.I. Joe Connolly, her rescuer, her friend and…? She wants him to be much more, but he's been avoiding her since her ordeal, and she can't seem to get close to him. Joe isn't sure there even is a case. But as the body count rises and their investigation leads them miles from Manhattan, he has to admit that there's a twisted new serial killer at work. Even more unsettling is the guidance Joe is receiving from beyond the grave. People he knows to be dead—his cousin Matt and Matt's fiancée, Leslie—are appearing to him, offering new clues and leads, and warning him of terrible danger ahead. But not even otherworldly intervention can keep Genevieve and Joe's new nightmare from becoming terrifyingly real—and putting them squarely in the crosshairs between this world and the next.

2008/07/06
It's time for another episode of MUCH ADO ABOUT BOOKS ! This week, host Laura Mills-Alcott welcomes cozy mystery author Rhys Bowen into the studio to read from her latest cozy mystery, A ROYAL PAIN ... another hilarious mystery featuring penniless aristocrat Lady Georgie. The Queen of England has concocted a plan in which Georgie is to entertain a Bavarian princess— and conveniently place her in the playboy Prince’s path, in the hopes that he might finally marry. But queens never take money into account. Georgie has very little, which is why she moonlights as a maid-in-disguise. She must draw up plans: clean house to make it look like a palace; have Granddad and her neighbor pretend to be the domestic staff; un-teach Princess Hanni the English she’s culled from American gangster movies; cure said Princess of her embarrassing shoplifting habit; and keep an eye on her at parties. Then there’s the worrying matter of the body in the bookshop and Hanni’s unwitting involvement with the Communist Party. It’s enough to drive a girl crazy... Now grab a cup of good English tea, and join Rhys Bowen for an excerpt from A ROYAL PAIN ...

HISTORY: Ronald Reagan talks about achieving peace through strength
2007/02/09
When Ronald Reagan became president, America was seen as weak by the rest of the world. As a result, there were some rogue nations who thought America would not respond to to attacks, such as kidnappings of our citizens or the outright murder of our civilians and military by bombings. President Reagan had a different approach - he knew we could not achieve peace through negotiations with these terrorist countries, and instead, needed to achieve peace through strength.

HISTORY: Bert the Turtle public service announcement regarding the atom bomb
2007/01/19
This week on iHistory Radio, we bring you an old radio broadcast in the years shortly after WWII. Broadcast for kiddies by the Civil Defense Administration - this is a real public service program to help children learn to "duck and cover" in the event of an atom bomb in the 1940s.
While a tad creepy, this short program-- a mix of kiddie characters and life or death subject matter -- shows us how serious the threat of an atom bomb was believed to have been. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOUNG CHILDREN.
