513: Dr. Henry Cloud - The art and training of leadership
2017/12/04

Dr. Cloud is a New York Times bestselling author, and his books have sold over 14 million copies. His groundbreaking book “Boundaries - When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of Your Life”, Has become a personal development classic, often sitting in the top 300 of overall books in Amazon, even after 25 years! In this show we give attention to Boundaries, then dig into his new gigantic effort and discussing the art and training of leadership. Real Leadership. He has possibly the most powerful online class to not only teach you leadership, but to take ANY biz idea or startup through to create a solid, well worked out business plan. I’ve been around biz development all my life, and his online class is just unreal. I went through it myself and we unpacked it and more in this show.. Let me tell you, this is a show anyone and everyone will want to hear. Leadership is like sales, it’s ultimately about INFLUENCE, and we all must have this ability, as we can not serve a soul without it. Learning about it won’t do it, you have to do it - pen to paper, fingers to keyboards and implement. His course offers this opportunity on a silver platter. 512: Changing jobs, careers and starting a business
2017/12/01
Info (Show/Hide)
A significant discussion for anyone desiring of, or contemplating a different job, career or business. My co host Michelle Prince and I asked this question on Facebook, “Is there a challenging area in your life where you are struggling to understand how you can change things for the better”. The responses were almost all around one issue, choosing and going after jobs, careers or businesses that are more fitting and rewarding. So we just made this the focus. If you are not in a job you love, if you are interested in going after self-employment, this show is power packed. The question came from a short message Zig Ziglar gave us, that I play at the top of the show. Thanks to BookBoundByTheSea.com and Ziglar On Demand for supporting this episode.

510: Michael Jr. - Be the punchline
2017/11/27
Info (Show/Hide)
A world class comedian who is not out to get laughs. He is out to “give people the opportunity to laugh” and help set the stage for meaningful, purposeful content of the heart and soul. His personal mission is to “comedically inspire people to walk in purpose”. He is accomplishing this in massive numbers while on stage with The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel, BET, Comedy Central, Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday and Tedx Talks. He will shortly be in a movie theater near you in a starring role for the feature film, “Selfie Dad”. Here is a novelty, he is a top ranked comedian who has no need or use for crude and vulgar jokes, imagine that. You will hear in the show how he views all of us, in living our lives, we are preparing and setting the stage. Why? For the punchline of our lives. The deliverable. Without that, it is simply a life of always preparing but never coming to the table with an offering. Nobody in The Ziglar audience desires this. So listen in to this interview and we believe you will be significantly inspired and empowered to do just that - Deliver. Connect with Michael at . 509: What helps people finally just do it?
2017/11/24
Info (Show/Hide)
We asked this question, “What caused you to finally start? You were going along, maybe had a wish or desire or need, but time went on and you did not act. Then finally, ___X___ happened and you started forward, took a step, leapt. What was the cause? Why did you finally go forward?” Of course we got a slew of great responses that my co-host Michelle Prince and I are about to share with you. Why? To help you in the next thing YOU want to truly get started on, but may feel hamstrung by something. A better explanation however, comes from Zig Ziglar himself, so we lead off with a two minute clip from him that will drive the message home. The dynamics involved in doing such a thing equate to someone with a profound experience and ability in things like overcoming fear and discomfort. Faith. Perseverance. Joy. And much more. 500: Q&A - What problem does your biz solve?
2017/11/03
Info (Show/Hide)
The question, "What problem do you help solve? If you have a business, product, service, message, what problem does it solve for an end user or recipient?” We posted this question on show host Kevin Miller’s Facebook page - agentkmiller - and received incredible responses. The question came from our interviews with Don Miller in show 498 where we discussed his book, ‘Story Brand’ - Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen. He took us through the structure our business message should follow - “A CHARACTER who wants something encounters a PROBLEM before they can get it. At the peak of their despair, a GUIDE steps into their lives, gives them a PLAN, and CALLS THEM TO ACTION. That action helps them avoid FAILURE and ends in a SUCCESS.” If you have a biz, product or service or hope to, I guaranteed you’ll get wise direction from this show. Thanks to Ziglar Family’s ‘7 Day Challenge’ and EZ Metrics for supporting this show.

498: WORK - Don Miller, how story is the key to your biz success
2017/10/30
Info (Show/Hide)
Here is my testimony to Don Miller; of books written in the last decade, I have heard more testimony of actual life change as a result of people reading Don’s book, ‘A Million Miles In A Thousand Years’, than any other book. Period. I have purchased three cases of the book and given them away. I attended Don’s Storyline conferences, as have much of my family and friends. Now Don has brought his expertise and insight on story to the business world with unprecedented acclaim. If you want a successful business and life, what you will hear in the following interview and in Don’s just released book, ‘Building a StoryBrand: Clarify Your Message So Customers Will Listen’, is a must read. Why? It flips our perspective of how to promote what we have to offer to the public. It’s not about your product or service, it is about the customer. Don takes us through the structure of a good storyline and how we can and must apply it to our offerings in this format - “A CHARACTER who wants something encounters a PROBLEM before they can get it. At the peak of their despair, a GUIDE steps into their lives gives them a PLAN and CALLS THEM TO ACTION. That action helps them avoid FAILURE and ends in a SUCCESS.” When you listen in, I predict two things - 1) you will realize you are violating some of these principles, and 2) you will have an aha moment you can take action on right away. 497: ZIGBOMB - Can you really do and be anything?
2017/10/27
Info (Show/Hide)
In today’s show, I posted this question on my Facebook page, “We can do and become anything we want to do and become. Do you agree?” The direct answer was almost unanimous, but the perspectives varied greatly. I feel there were three main takeaways - 1) the necessity to know yourself well, your gifts, talents, skills and abilities, 2) the reality that we are all pretty prone to limiting ourselves, and 3) anything worthwhile WILL be overwhelming and require more than we can offer solely in and of ourselves.
496: HABITS - Tom Bilyeu, do not be right, be a learner
2017/10/25
Info (Show/Hide)
Round two with Tom Bilyeu in the show everyone is already raving about…Habits. We take the 7 spokes on the Ziglar Wheel of Life and ask today’s biggest world influences, what their daily habits are in each of these areas. If you didn’t catch the show prior to this one, episode 495 with Tom Bilyeu…gift yourself and go listen. It was one of more harder hitting shows on the nitty-gritty of walking out our personal development endeavors. The highlight for me was choosing to believe..it’s your fault. It’s all…my fault. Sounds terrible, doesn’t it. But it’s a massive freedom. Connect with tom at or just search Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or iTunes for Impact Theory. In this show, you’ll hear how this legend in the wellness industry hates working out, how he had to stop working non stop for his marriage, how reading is his passion and road to self-improvement and why he loves playing video games with his wife! If you get value, please leave a review in iTunes and tell us why so we can bring you more of the same! And folks, while we keep this show free of any offending language, we don’t commit to this from all the content our guests put out.
495: MIND - Tom Bilyeu wants us to pull you out of the Matrix
2017/10/23
Info (Show/Hide)
Tom Bilyeu came on this show to help us develop an anti-fragile, unbeatable mindset.” He is the co-founder of 2014 Inc. 500 company Quest Nutrition — a unicorn startup valued at over $1 billion — and the co-founder and host of Impact Theory. Impact Theory is a first-of-its-kind company designed to facilitate global change through the incubation of mission-based businesses and the cultivation of empowering content. Every piece of content Impact Theory creates is meant to underscore the company mission to free people from The Matrix and help them unlock their true potential. Impact Theory exists to inspire the next generation of game-changing companies and creators that will make a true and lasting impact on the world. I really got interested in what Tom was doing after seeing a video of an interview he did with Simon Sinek on Millennial. The video went viral and helped bring a lot of people to Impact Theory. I’ve now watched countless interviews from Tom. If you find him on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, you’ll see a hard-driving approach to personal development, no excuses and getting the most out of yourself. But in this interview, you’ll hear it comes from a challenging upbringing and a lot of compassion for our humanity. Tom talks at length about how average he is and had to work so hard at learning how to be more. How he built a billion-dollar company in the wellness industry but hates working out…even though he does it every day. You’ll also hear me tackle a controversial video he posted titled, “It’s all your fault” where he charges us to take everything bad that’s ever happened to us and say, “It’s my fault.” Sound ridiculous? Listen in. Connect with Tom at Impacttheory.com or just search Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or iTunes for Impact Theory. And folks, while we keep this show free of any offending language, we don’t commit to this from all the content our guests put out. Thanks to Top Resume and ZipRecruiter for supporting this episode.
494: ZIGBOMB - Greg McKeown will see you at the top
2017/10/20
Info (Show/Hide)
In my interview with Greg McKeown, author of the book, “Essentialism”, he cited his fave Zig quote/concept was, “See You At The Top”, because 1) “There is always more room at top than the bottom" 2)“Life can be of ever increasing contribution" 3) “Our greatest contribution always lies ahead of us, not behind us.” From that I posted this question on my agentkmiller Facebook page: What role does "motivation" play in your real, day-to-day life? There is plenty of baggage associated with the word? I'm asking for some show content, so as always...looking for real feedback, not platitudes. Thank you! We got a wealth of responses that my cohost Michelle Prince and I covered…it was incredibly insightful into this world of personal development and motivation that admittedly has some differing perceptions and values to people. It ended up getting broken down into two parts, 1) motive as the core desire you have to pursue something, but then also 2) what you do to motivate yourself to take action when those times come and even though you want the achievement, you just don’t feel like doing the work. It made me really look at the topic differently. I expect it will for you too. Thanks to all of you who have been leaving new reviews in iTunes! That helps us get seen by more people. If you haven’t…will you?
493: HABITS - Greg McKeown’s personal health habits
2017/10/18
Info (Show/Hide)
Let us go behind the scenes with ‘Essentialism’ best selling author, Greg McKeown, for our HABITS show. If you didn’t catch our main interview with him in episode 492, go listen to it now! Today I walk through the seven spokes of success in the Ziglar Wheel of Life with Greg to see what his habits for success are, and I’ll tell you now, I bet you’ll hear some new ones. I sure did. For starters, he keeps a daily food journal, does a lot of trampolining with his kids, is intrigued by all that Jesus didn’t do, he fasts monthly and has compiled a journal of 10,000 items he’s grateful for. He was completely thoughtful, open and authentic. It was a tremendous joy and we shared some fun. I could tell you more, or dive in. Let’s go. He was completely thoughtful, open and authentic. It was a complete joy and we shared some fun. Thank you to Concur for supporting this episode.
492: MIND – Greg McKeown, the higher status of essentialism
2017/10/16
Info (Show/Hide)
Greg McKeown is the bestselling author of the book, “Essentialism” - The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. The term best seller is used a lot, so let us clarify this is the real deal. The book was published 3.5 years ago and as of this writing is ranked as the 1,289 bestselling book on Amazon. Overall. That’s a big, big deal. And now having studied the book, we know why. It’s a game changer. A life changer. As you will hear in this interview, it’s not about minimalism. It’s more about making the right and best decisions. Putting decisions to an extreme tests. Being in control. A great analogy that sets a good stage is, Greg says that in an emergency, “Everyone is an essentialist.” We get on task, on target, divest ourselves of non-necessities, and do what is most efficient, effective and successful. So can you really live every moment like that? Listen in and find out. Connect with Greg and his revolutionary work at . 491: ZIGBOMB – Jordan Harbinger on giving to get
2017/10/13
Info (Show/Hide)
Jordan Harbinger of The Art of Charm podcast and empire was on stage at a live event he was MCing in Las Vegas and he gave us his favorite Ziglar quote, and why. The quote? “You can have everything in life you want if you will help enough other people get what they want.” Then this is interesting, I had been taking our guests quotes and crafting a question around them and posting to the Ziglar Facebook page which has nearly 4.5 million fans. We get many, many comments. This time however, I posted to my personal page at agentkmiller. We’ve never gotten so many in depth, authentic comments. So much that it was really hard to filter through and decide what to bring you, as it was too much to share them all. On that note, you are welcome to friend me at agentkmiller on Facebook, as I’ll be posting a question around our guests’ ZigBomb every week. So what is the question I posted that provoked so many deep comments? I asked, “While the concept sounds all well and great, where have you had success or challenge in living this concept out? What concerns and/or feedback do you have regarding the statement? Be as raw and honest as you will.” And people were just that, raw and honest. I brought in my co-host Michelle Prince to talk through some of the comments. Thanks to Joey who just left a 5 star review in iTunes and testifying to Tom Ziglar, right after some grumpy soul left a stinger about Tom. If you want to show some support to the family and message of Ziglar, please help us by leaving a review in iTunes! Thanks to Goddard School for supporting this episode.
490: HABITS - Jordan Harbinger’s personal development highs and lows
2017/10/11
Info (Show/Hide)
You know Jordan Harbinger of The Art of Charm podcast fame and today he is back with us after our main interview in the last episode where we talked about social skills. In this show we are going behind the scenes with Jordan to look at his own personal development. Where is he strong, where is he week, what are his personal habits to help inspire HIS true performance? You will hear him talk about “leaving things better than you found it,” and being the guy people divulged personal things to, even if he wasn’t really wanting to hear it. He was very gifted in some social arenas as a kid, but clueless in others - like playing only boy playing a flute. He grew up as an only child and he has to remember he’s not the only person in the equation. It’s a great show folks. If you didn’t catch the first show, episode 489, make sure you get it, it’s truly significant. And if you get value, you know what to do, please leave a review in iTunes and let us know!
489: PERSONAL - Jordan Harbinger | Social Capital Necessities for Success
2017/10/09
Info (Show/Hide)
Back for his second time on this show, Jordan Harbinger, the rockstar podcast legend who hosts The Art of Charm podcast. Friends, “How to win friends and influence people” written by Dale Carnegie in 1936 is one of the all time business classics. You will find very few world leaders and influencers who don’t site it as a primary message that helped enable their success, just like Zig Ziglar’s “See You At The Top”. Jordan’s primary focus at The Art of Charm is social skills. Personal relationship skills. There is arguably NOTHING that impacts our lives for better or worse, than our social skills. Yet when and where are they taught? Nowhere unless you were fortunate enough to have parents like mine who had me read the book and took me to Carnegie Classes. In this show we drill down into the necessity and opportunity of social skills. There is nothing you have more control over, can take action on quicker and will produce greater results in your life. Period. Make sure you find Art of Charm where you listen to podcasts and subscribe, and you can check out all Jordan is doing at . And when you get hit with a value bomb, please, let us know and give thanks to the Zig and the Ziglar Family by giving us a review in iTunes, it’s the best thing you can do for us. Thanks to ZipRecruiter and Goddard School for supporting this episode.
488: Failure is an event, not a person
2017/10/06
Info (Show/Hide)
Chris cites “Failure is an event, not a person” as his most impacting quote from Zig Ziglar. That quote comes from a longer quote of Zig’s, “Failure is an event, not a person. Yesterday ended last night. Today is a brand new day, and it’s yours.” We took that quote, and Michelle Prince in a recent Facebook Live talk, asked the listeners this question, “Who of you listening have had a failure in your life that led to something great?” There were over 800 comments during her talk and we pulled a handful to discuss in today’s show. Thanks to Goddard School for supporting this episode.
487: HABITS – Chris Guillebeau’s personal development highs and lows
2017/10/04
Info (Show/Hide)
Chris Guillebeau leads and influences the world in nonconformity, travel hacking, business start up and now, the Side Hustle (his brand new book we dig into in show #486). But what about his own personal development story? In this show you’ll hear how Chris doesn’t like the term “balance”, he likes “alignment” and “seasonality”. Being grateful is a key goal for Chris. He worries about disappointing people and letting them down and is concerned about where he’s falling short. He’s not strong in details, follow up and building a company, but his strength is figuring out alternative ways of doing things and helping people fast track their process. His goals are not flexible, but the strategy or tactic are. He says, “I am a 100% introvert. My default mode is being by myself. I do events and look forward to them, but at the end of the night I need to go be by myself.” He talks about taking risks, but for him, only very calculated risks. Thanks to Goddard School and Princess Cruise Lines for supporting this episode.
486: WORK – Chris Guillebeau, create a side hustle and keep your day job
2017/10/02
Info (Show/Hide)
Chris Guillebeau is back for his second time on the show, this time with the message from his new book, “Side Hustle”. He wrote it to the fully employed who want a side hustle to 1) have something they enjoy and have freedom in, 2) Want another stream of income, and 30 Want the security of not having all their eggs in one basket. Chris is as down to earth as they come and is all about practical, step by step application. Side Hustle is right now sitting in the top 200 overall books on Amazon’s best seller list because this is guidance people want. 485: ZIGBOMB – Mark Sanborn on what goal setting does to you
2017/09/26
Info (Show/Hide)
In show 481 we talked with Mark Sanborn, author of The Potential Principal. We asked him what his favorite Zig quote and value was and he gave us this, - What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. We then created a great, inspirational quote poster with that quote and posted it on the Ziglar Facebook page along with this question, If you understand the value of goals but have still not written them out for your life and desires, why? We got a lot of responses and picked out five we felt were highly relevant for everyone. Acclaimed Ziglar speaker Michelle Prince joins me to co-host a very real discussion on the struggles we all have with goals. Thanks to ZipRecruiter and Blue Apron for their support of this episode.
484: MIND - Joshua Spodek - Why doing the unnecessary gives you a success superpower
2017/09/19
Info (Show/Hide)
Joshua Spodek is a professor, astrophysicist, entrepreneur and about 20 other things. This profound conversation Kevin Miller and Tom Ziglar had with Joshua dissected a profound concept Joshua calls SIDCHA – Self-Imposed, Daily, Challenging, Healthy Activity. Ziglar fans have heard much about daily habits of success. But what came from this discussion was the healthy habit actions are far more valuable than the end result of that particular activity. We are talking about habits we do not HAVE to do. The daily habit of brushing your teeth, getting dressed, going to work, eating...those are have to habits. Healthy habits we do not have to do are things like morning devotions, exercise, journaling, working on improving a relationship. If we don’t do those things, generally nobody knows or cares and you do not have an immediate negative consequence. The power in doing those things is in choosing to do something you don’t have to do. Something challenging. Joshua’s new book, “Leadership Step by Step” – Become The Person Others Follow is unlike any other leadership book, as it doesn’t simply teach you leadership skills, it makes you take action and learn how to actually lead. Self-Imposed, Daily, Challenging, Healthy Activities. To grow into a leader, even if it’s simply learning to lead yourself!
483: Rabbi Evan Moffic – Ancient wisdom for happiness
2017/09/12
Info (Show/Hide)
Rabbi Evan Moffic became the youngest senior rabbi of a large synagogue in the United States, at the age of 31. He has just released his new book, “The Happiness Prayer” – Ancient Jewish Wisdom for the Best Way to Live Today. It is derived from a literal prayer recited and sung during Jewish worship, handed down from rabbis 2,000 years ago. What’s interesting is Rabbi Moffic showcases this “prayer” is just as relevant regardless of your faith, or if you even claim faith. Which in essence makes it as much cognitive training, as it might be a prayer. We dig into why “happiness” is such a big topic today and what causes our happiness to erode. The meat of the interview is in the latter half where we dissect the 10 point of structure that cause or hamper happiness. It’s not a formula per se, but it lists out the ingredients that make or break happiness in a format we can work through and address and apply in our own lives. 482: Getting past failure – a Q&A show
2017/09/05
Info (Show/Hide)
The favorite Zig quote from Christopher Lochhead, our guest in show 479, is this – “Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker.” We posted this on Facebook and asked for your feedback on failure; has it held you back, is it holding you back? We took five vulnerable comments and host Kevin Miller and co-host Michelle Prince walked through some of their personal experiences in their own lives, the lives of others and the principles of Zig Ziglar. You will no doubt relate and be empowered in this new episode format. Thanks to Bombfell (men’s clothing), Breather (meeting and office space) and Princess Cruise Lines for supporting this episode.

2017/08/29
Info (Show/Hide)
Mark Sanborn wrote the international bestseller, The Fred Factor. Now he brings us “The Potential Principal” – A proven system for closing the gap between how good you are and how good you could be. Let me tell you, this is not a ra-ra motivational speech on “we all have more potential”, nor is it an admonishment that you just need to do more, push harder and push out everything in life you enjoy to be a pure workhorse for achievement. It’s a real look at our opportunity to improve and the hope and joy that comes from it. And it’s a program to work through to effectively, efficiently and healthfully groom your own potential. If you have a product, service, message or business, and you want to be number one in the category where you serve, you need to stop what you are doing and listen to this show and reorient around the counsel. As I am, and we at Ziglar are! More important than the quality of what you offer and even your brand, is understanding the category your business is in, and designing around it. 2017/08/08
Info (Show/Hide)
Jack Alexander does NOT bring us a prosperity message in his brand new book, “The God Guarantee” - Finding Freedom from the Fear of Not Having Enough. But he showcases how most all of us have a scarcity mentality, whether we’re barely scraping by or we’re making millions. So how does God provide? How should we approach Him? Jack gives us some steps that he did not create. He simply takes them right out of one of the most popular stories in the Bible and it will absolutely change your paradigm, as it did mine! Thanks to Breather, Freshbooks and Be Frugal for supporting this episode.
477: How to gain trust
2017/08/01
Info (Show/Hide)
Zig teaches on a topic that I absolutely believe is more important than any topic covered in formal education. It should be a foundational topic BEFORE any other. What is it? It’s personal relationship skills. Folks there is nothing better you can do to better your life on ALL fronts, then learn how to better connect with people and gain their trust and interest. Nothing. And if you don’t know how to do that well, you are handicapping all your other efforts in the worst way possible. Zig is talking about sales. If you are new to Ziglar, then let me fill you in; we believe everyone is in sales. Actually, it’s more than a belief, it’s a fact. So today’s message is highly relevant for all of us. If you have relationship with anyone on the earth, you need to know how to influence and care for them well. That is called sales. So whether you are actually involved in literal sales in your profession, or you are just a human, you are in sales. We listen to Zig then break down a few high points to help you apply the principles to your life, now! Thanks to Be Frugal, Princess Cruise Lines and Capterra for supporting this episode.
476: Should you be better than others? – Dr. Kristin Neff
2017/07/25
Info (Show/Hide)
Dr. Kristin Neff’s has a TED on self-compassion that has over 800k views. Kristin’s book is titled “Self Compassion”, The Proven Power of Being kind to yourself. You can find her at What hooked us was her commentary on self-esteem. Zig Ziglar was the king of calling us to the necessity of a healthy self-image, but when Kristin divulged the research of how our culture has gone about achieving self-esteem at the sake of others and what it’s done to all of us, we were floored. Two big focal points you’ll get from this are in relation to, 1) how we tend to equate self-esteem with comparing to or being better than others, and 2) how our self-esteem is conditional. We have better self-esteem…if. This is an interview that will equip you to better address your own self-esteem in a healthy way and empower you to be and do what you need and want to do. Our point here is to bring you tools and resources to help you progress in your life, however, that looks for you. We want to eliminate the things that handicap and limit you. This issue today is huge. I watched Dr. Kristin Neff’s TED talk, then reviewed the book to pull out the big issues, and that is what Tom Ziglar and I discuss with her today. Thanks to HP, Blue Apron and ZipRecruiter for supporting this episode.
475: Step out of the crowd and out of the norm
2017/07/18
Info (Show/Hide)
Zig Ziglar brings us a message on the opportunities we have and insight on the hard work and overcoming it will take. If you don’t want a normal life of mediocrity, you’ll have to step out of the crowd. And that…is hard. Harder than we realize, so we break it down today. If you believe you “get it”, of course doing something different is harder work, I’d encourage you to listen to the specific issues Zig brings us. We can better win the battle when we fully know who or what we are fighting! Thanks to HP, Freshbooks, and Capterra for supporting this episode.
474: How to make people feel appreciated with Dr. Paul White
2017/07/11
Info (Show/Hide)
Dr. Paul White helped Gary Chapman bring the profound message of “The Five Love Languages” into the workplace and it is powerful. More than money and promotions, people in the workplace want to feel appreciated. But many efforts to make people feel appreciated fall flat. Why? We all feel appreciated in different ways. Figure it out and you’ll be a master at giving people what they want most, and who benefits? They do…and you do too! Thanks to Shutterstock, Men’s Wearhouse Suit Drive, Breather and Freshbooks for their support of this episode.
473: Alter your reality – Zig style
2017/07/04
Info (Show/Hide)
Mr. Zig Ziglar comes with a fairly brief message that has one point: making a dramatic turn around for the good when the circumstances are in the dump. He leads off with a personal story that hits the point home and leaves us fully empowered to radically change our prospects for success, right now, especially if you feel circumstances are set against you. We then take what Zig shares and show you how the crux of his message is the crux of what you and I accept as “reality”. It’s a shift that will decide if we stay in the norm, or not. I’m serious folks. It’s a simple shift that is possibly the hardest to actually make. Which is why the masses stay just that…the masses. If you wanted to be normal, you would not be here. Stick with us in this show and I guarantee we will either massively empower you, or cause you to accept that you do not want true, positive change in your life, and save you a lot of heartache and effort. Thanks to Shutterstock, Men’s Wearhouse Suit Drive and Capterra for supporting this episode.

471: Do you have ability beyond your own needs?
2017/06/20
Info (Show/Hide)
Zig Ziglar comes to us on stage, with a compelling message on the power of reaching out to others, for two reasons. One, to go beyond just caring for yourself, so you can care for others. And two, what happens FOR you when you do so? One thing is…others reach out to help you. Zig references a charge given to him by a teacher and coach who influenced his life, and later became his father in law! The coach said, “Those of you who have an ability which goes beyond just providing for your own needs, have a responsibility AND opportunity to reach down and lift up those people who do not have that same ability and opportunity.” We have more and more people today who have great hearts, great things to offer, but they feel alone, isolated, unsupported and in many ways…stuck. If that is you, you’ll want to hear this. Or if you know someone else who may feel this way, send the show to them. Or maybe you are helping others and getting helped, this will inspire and confirm you and spur you to do more!
470: When love is not the answer – Dr. Emerson Eggerichs
2017/06/13
Info (Show/Hide)
Dr. Emerson Eggerichs has a life-changing message for men and women that will absolutely change your relationships. It’s so paradigm shifting and revelatory that men, yes men…want to talk to their significant other about it. We’ve painted relationships to be about “love”, only to discover that we are only speaking to one-half of the equation. Sounds odd, but the truth often is. This message will…alter your world. If you are a breathing male or female, do not miss this. Thanks to the LEADx show, Breather workspaces and Upside business travel for sponsoring this episode.
469: If Zig could give you one piece of advice – this is it
2017/06/06
Info (Show/Hide)
Today we go short and sweet on Zig Ziglar’s #1 principle for success. You’ve heard it, but have you really H E A R D it?! Has it really taken root? Missing it would be like having a race car but missing the tires. This principle is the foundation for everything else Zig teaches, “You can have everything in life you want if you’ll help enough other people get what they want.” But let’s hear it from him, then dig in a bit. Thanks to Upside and Capterra for sponsoring this episode.
468: Create your culture – Dina Dwyer
2017/05/30
Info (Show/Hide)
Dina Dwyer is back with us. In show 402 which has been downloaded over 40k times, she took us through her book, “Values Inc” proving that leading your business and career with values is not only the right thing to do, but it makes far more money! For Dina, this is to the tune of $2 billion annually. We have her back now because she’s released something new, the “Create Your Culture Workbook”, and you can have it for…free; Which you’ll very much want after hearing this interview. My analogy…if creating a mission statement for your business and work is a nice little doormat to your home, this workbook on creating the culture is actually sitting down in your living room. No comparison. Dina gives us 6 steps in the workbook to clarify our values and create our culture. Step one, for instance, is “Clarify Your Values”, and Dina literally showcases a list of 106 commonly held values to choose from. Thanks to Constant Contact, Fresh Mac, ZipRecruiter and Babbel for supporting this episode.
467: Selling is caring and if you care you must sell
2017/05/23
Info (Show/Hide)
One of Zig’s favorite quotes and mine (Kevin) is, “If you believe your product or service can fulfill a true need, it's your moral obligation to sell it.” But it’s even bigger. YOU are a product and you are on planet earth to serve. Selling is influencing. If you can’t effectively influence others in a positive way, you can’t really serve them much. Thus if you are walking through life today with no formal understanding of and training in selling/influencing, you are living life handicapped. I’ll even submit you are handicapping those you love because you are not as effective as you should be in helping them…because you aren’t listening enough, caring enough or successfully speaking their language. Not yet. But after this show, you’ll be well on your way! Thanks to Constant Contact, Upside, Blue Apron and ZipRecruiter for supporting this episode.
466: Hero, a message every man needs to hear – Dr. Meg Meeker
2017/05/16
Info (Show/Hide)
Dr. Meg Meeker says, “In a culture that lauds mothers as the parental heads of the house, the role of fathers has become inappropriately minimized—and in some cases even ridiculed. Fathers need to see themselves the way their children see them, You are, whether you know it or not, the center of their world, the hub of the wheel that is your family, the hero they depend on. If you’re not there or not engaged, they suffer.” Those are significant statements and it’s what we dig into in this interview, along with, “Three questions your child needs you to answer”. Today, she uses her analytical skills to investigate life-changing truths about relationships. Her new, groundbreaking research-based book, “The Kindness Challenge – Thirty Days To Improve Any Relationship” delivers this evidence: Whether we thrive depends far more on how we choose to treat others than on how we ourselves are treated. Christine Hassler brings us guidance on how to deal with disappointment on the emotional, mental, behavioral and spiritual levels in her book, “Expectation Hangover” – Free yourself from your past, change your present & get what you really want. We led into the interview from a statement Christine gave us, “To have true, aligned and lasting performance, we need to be connected to the TRUTH of who we are. We need to let go of limited self-beliefs, turn down the voice of the inner critic, drop masks of who we think we are “supposed” to be and agendas of what we think we “should” do.” Sounds very Ziglaresque, wouldn’t you say?! We cover issues such as, ““We all face setbacks we cannot control, yet we often forget that we have a choice about how to handle those setbacks.” As well as, “Managing your expectations is not about lowering your standards.” This was a powerful and eye opening interview that provides relevant value to everyone. Zig Ziglar is about doing the right thing. He also…liked nice things and was unabashed about his desire to be successful and appreciating what money could buy. We can have what he had, all the success and trappings, if we’ll do what he did. Which was, “help other people get what they want.” It’s right, it’s Christ-like, and it pays off in dramatic fashion! Today we hear a message from the legend of motivation and inspiration, the champion of personal development, Zig Ziglar. Today he walks us through some stats and reality of success in the workplace being highly dependent on the value of our relationships… even eclipsing our mastery of the job. The great news is it’s something we can change, immediately! He hits on 4 topics: 1) the value of appreciating others, 2) treating everyone like a VIP, 3) expecting the best from others so you can get the best from them and 4) treating everyone with care and respect. But let me caution you here, this is not about being humanitarian of the year Mr. or Mrs. Nice Guy. The point is teaching you how you can have far greater success in your life and work. And quite honestly, if you really pay attention to the message and then think about your own behavior, chances are you’ll recognize and have to admit that the qualities Zig is espousing here are not up to par in your life. 440: Love your life, not theirs – with Rachel Cruze
2016/11/18
Info (Show/Hide)
Rachel Cruze inspires our true performance by pointing out a primary reason we spend money we shouldn’t, and become controlled by it. What is it? Social status. In today’s culture there is something causing us to do this more than ever, and I would not have guessed what it was before reading her book. The culprit? Social Media. It’s not the bad buy, but the “highlight reel” is causing us to spend. So, what do we do about it? Listen to the show! Thanks so new sponsor Hello Fresh, and Braintree for their support of this episode of The Ziglar Show.
439: Stop the anger
2016/11/16
In this message Zig expounds on the trajectory of anger and the necessity for us to understand it in others for what it so often is. It’s about them, not us. To rise above it however, we must have a level of self-confidence and a self-protecting willingness to extend grace. Thank you so Salesforce and Lenovo for their support of this episode!
438: Being Zig’s kid, the weird and good with Julie Ziglar Norman
2016/11/11
What can Zig teach you without speaking from a stage or a book? Let his youngest daughter tell you. He really was mortal, he wasn’t perfect, but the story is compelling. See what they have to offer you in investment values!
437: Do people like you? Really?
2016/11/09
Your capability on the job is maybe half your opportunity. Being liked is the other half. And if you are not well liked, you’ll lose an opportunity to those who technically, are inferior to you. Don’t let this happens. Zig talks to us today about the value of being liked, and literally gives us “10 Commandments of Human Relations!” Thanks to Salesforce for supporting this episode.
436: Sell with a Story – Paul Smith
2016/11/04
Info (Show/Hide)
Remember. You ARE in sales. If you want people to hear you, frame your message in a story. You don’t have to be or become a “storyteller”, you just simply utilize short (1-2 minute) stories to dramatically increase your success in communicating a message. This is an intriguing and highly actionable show with author and speaker and authority on story, Paul Smith. Thanks so Harry’s Razors and Salesforce for their support of this episode!
435: What you speak defines you
2016/11/02
Info (Show/Hide)
None of us realize the gravity of this reality. What we speak…our statements, our responses, our conversations, define us to others. And thus, garner us respect and attraction, or disdain and distance. To varying degrees. This is BIG medicine folks. Listen to 8 minutes of Zig on stage, then we’ll hold some of his statements captive and as usual, break them down for better absorption! Thanks to Salesforce.com for their support of this episode.
434: Provide value, get paid – with Jeff Goins
2016/10/28
Info (Show/Hide)
Jeff Goins “stumbled” upon success. Meaning, he had an education, a good job, a family…and a joy in writing. So he wrote. For his work, in blogs and more, till something happened. His wife got pregnant and would lose their second income. Then he got serious. He turned his joy of writing and the value he was providing people through it, to not only a second income but a dramatic income. How? Providing value. But not to everyone. Just those who he personally related to. Sounds good, doesn’t it? It is. This is a must listen to show. Thanks to Salesforce for supporting this episode.
433: Who taught you how to communicate?
2016/10/26
Chances are 99%...nobody. You are a novice. At best. Even if you’re better than anyone you know. Zig gives us the keys to what effective communication is, and how to do it well. Thanks so Salesforce for their support of this episode.

Thanks to Performa Sleep and Kabbage for supporting this episode!

428: Never start over and dance with fear
2016/10/06
Info (Show/Hide)
In show 424 we heard from Zig Ziglar and discussed the health of responding vs reacting. I invited questions. We got some on that topic, but it also just generated a bunch of great questions on the real life issues we cover here on The Ziglar Show regarding, “How do I really…inspire my true performance? Me, in my life?” So from personal development to some business development, we cover some big issues. One I want to pull out really questioned the issue of “positive thinking” and always being optimistic. Is it just being stoic and unemotional and…an unrealistic robot or Pollyanna persona? Then folks, near the end of the show we get into the issue of work you love, working at your passions. That’s where the excerpt from the top of the show came from and I think it will shed light on the topic that will be very reassuring and freeing for most of you. Thanks to ZipRecruiter and Braintree for sponsoring this episode of The Ziglar Show
427: How does your image affect your performance?
2016/09/30
Info (Show/Hide)
And what should we do about it? Zig gives us a 10-minute message on the power of what others negatively say about us…that we agree with. Then what WE say to ourselves, that we agree with. Nobody has permission to minimize who we are, and we don’t have the right to agree with minimizing statements, as children of God. To walk this out however, we must be very countercultural. The human norm veers toward negative statements. We must combat and reverse this. Listen in as Zig inspires us toward…our True Performance!
426: The Talented-Person Blind Spot – with Roy H Williams
2016/09/28
Info (Show/Hide)
You have talent, and you’re probably somewhat blind to it. You minimize your talent and yourself. Which makes you…normal, according to Roy H Williams. On September 18, 2016 Roy sent out his weekly “Monday Morning Memo” and within moments of reading it, Ziglar Show host Kevin Miller contacted Roy’s camp and requested an interview as soon as possible. Days later it happened. Along with the topic at hand, they also took some majestic detours into personal and business branding, what humility actually is, and Roy’s take on following your passions. Thank you to ZipRecruiter for supporting this episode!
425: Blame! Who or what?
2016/09/23
Info (Show/Hide)
Who or what is to blame? People and things DO happen to us. We are victims. As Tom Ziglar states in this show, feeling blame us often justified and makes all the sense in the world. We’ve often got every right to feel that way! But do we use the blame as an excuse to confine us? Or do we do the illogical thing and…let it go. And succeed…anyway?! Thanks to NerdWallet and ZipRecruiter for supporting this episode.
424: Do you respond or react to life?
2016/09/21
Info (Show/Hide)
Zig asks us if we respond to life, or if we react to life? He explains the difference. Then he asks who or what do we allow to control our attitude, and therefore our actions? Who do we bequeath power to, or do we retain it for ourselves? Zig cites, “You cannot tailor-make the situations in life, but you can tailor-make the attitudes in advance to fit that situation in life. But at the core of your ability is your own…self image.” We’re going to listen to about 11 minutes of Zig, then drill in on a few of those topics. Thank you to Wealthfront and Autodesk for their support of this episode!
423: Why am I not changing?!
2016/09/13
We as humans often skip over the foundational step. The step of “being”. It comes before “doing” and from that, the end result…having. Zig makes two big points in this show, 1) We must first be (become) the right person, and 2) We must have vision. The clip from Zig is about 12 minutes, then we spend another 20 discussing the key points. Thanks to Autodesk for their support of this show!
422: Zig’s primary lessons to his son
2016/09/10

420: What agreements have you made with yourself?
2016/09/02
Info (Show/Hide)
Zig asks, “What do you believe about yourself?!” This dictates everything you do in your life. Your decisions, your actions, your successes, and failures. For the most part, you get to choose what you will and won’t believe about yourself. That’s the good news. The current unfortunate news is…we all tend to believe what others say about us. Especially those closest to us. It shouldn’t be so. Listen in to hear Zig. Thanks to Braintree and Wealth Front for supporting this episode.

They cover 1) What is the value of a good marriage and 2) What is the foundation of a good marriage? Thank you to Wealth Front and Earth Class Mail for supporting this show!

We took it from “Strategies for Success – Blueprint of Achievement. Zig wraps up the entire series talking about goals and really achieving them. This is Zig at his inspirational summit.

415: Quit praying and start listening – Bob Beaudine
2016/08/18
Bob Beaudine says this is THE secret that changes everything. We ask…how. Really. How? In real life, how do you tangibly ask God and hear anything specific? It sounds great, but in reality seems about as realistically tangible as levitating. I guarantee listening to this show will be a revelation to this concept.
414: Withstanding the liquor of Success with Steve Smith
2016/08/14
Info (Show/Hide)
We all want success in life, business, finances, relationships, health and more. But success can often have a high cost, namely in our peace, contentment, and happiness. Steve Smith has his own story as a rising megachurch pastor and the toll it took on his life. Today he’s now walked with thousands of C-level executives, business owners, megachurch pastors and high achievers, who have had aspects of crash-and-burn in their lives and businesses. What has he learned from this and how can we do pursue success…healthfully? Steve actually sat in the studio with Kevin and a candid, lively, in-depth and profound discussion took place. This is a must listen to from Ziglar’s True Performance Show.

412: Success programming for your brain
2016/08/05
Zig is helping us to actually achieve our goals, and it comes down to…us. What we do and don’t do. But don’t rely on sheer will. And definitely, don’t rely on happenstance. What are you doing, and not doing, every day…that is leading you? We listen to Zig then pull out three main points for better digestion. Thanks to Design Crowd, Braintree and Nerdwallet for supporting this show.
411: Creating peace to withstand stress and chaos with Joanne Miller
2016/08/03
Info (Show/Hide)
Life and the world is filled with stress and chaos. We can’t change that. But we can equip ourselves to deal with it, and a foundational necessity is having a place of peace and renewal. Our home. Our closest relationships. How do we go about creating this? In her book, “Creating a Haven of Peace”, Joanne F Miller guides us through the key ingredients needed to have a home of peace and relationships of love. At the end, is there anything we want more? And as Zig would say, this is the source of our power that will lead to our ultimate legacy. Thanks so Qualaroo and Blue Apron for their support of this show.
410: Your next, radical, great decision
2016/07/26
Zig talks to us about the number one way to make your goals actually happen. It’s not an action, it’s a…being. Which is good and bad news, depending on…you. We like step-by-step things to do because doing seems easy. To “be” different feels harder, but then, it’s the thing we have the absolute most control over.
409: Don Yaeger – Lessons from the greatest sports teams
2016/07/21

408: Your responsibility to be the hero
2016/07/20

You’ve got to be hard on yourself, and be the hero. These are just some of the topics we cover in this show. Thanks to HumanScale, Blue Apron and Earth Class Mail for their support of the show.

Meditation from a scientific perspective, stripping it of candles, incense, outfits and overall hoodoo spirituality. Dan Harris of ABC News’ Nightline says it’s simply about being mindful and taking captive what is going on in your head. Being unaware can lead to anxiety, panic attacks and…being a jerk. Dan had an on-air panic attack that brought his world to a halt and set him in search of a way to cope with the voice inside his head. The voice we all have
406: Get halfway to your goal in one hour
2016/07/12
Why is it that we put so much effort and time and use tools and resources to run our lives, but we ignore planning our lives? 2016/07/07

This is one of those stories you just can’t deny and it will further strip away the anchors we all have that keep us from progressing as we should. As we could. John’s book, “On Fire” is a current best seller and has made him a sought-after speaker where he calls people away from what he calls “accidental living”. The Ziglar Show - Inspiring Your True Performance
https://kevinmiller.co/podcasts/
This show is for aspiring people. For those who truly want to make positive progress in their lives and succeed at their desired achievements. For those who do not want to settle! Every week we bring you today's most relevant and influential leaders in personal development and break down their messages so you can get massively inspired and take real action in your life. We keep out any offensive language and continue the legacy given to us by Zig Ziglar, of whom Seth Godin said on Tim Ferriss' show, "Zig is your grandfather, and my grandfather, he's Tony Robbins' grandfather - none of us would be here if it weren't for Zig."
