The iLevel has a unique flexible neck which has a great range of flexibility and also a very strong tension clamp. - More Prototype iPhone Loss/Theft Drama2010/04/20
As I was editing the previous video on the controversy surrounding the new iPhone, I saw that Gizmodo had posted a story regarding how the iPhone was “lost”: http://gizmodo.com/5520438 .
Sponsor: Try GotoMeeting free for 30 days! For this special offer, visit www.gotomeeting.com/techpodcasts
Apparently a drunk Apple software engineer left it on a bar stool. The rest of the details between that event and Gizmodo obtaining it are still SUPER shady. I didn’t mention it in the video, but theawl has a good story summarizing how Gizmodo confessed the loss but not the part you can go to jail for: http://www.theawl.com/2010/04/gizmodo-semi-explains-the-iphone-but-not-about-title-18-sec-2314 This is getting ugly fast.

I share my thoughts on the story that Gizmodo broke on a “lost” iPhone prototype. The features of this iPhone sound pretty good, but I couldn’t help but be bothered about how everything went down. Gizmodo has a lot of explaining to do. In this video, I review the popular RPG Final Fantasy for iPhone.

This port of this old school title was brought to the iPhone a few months ago and I’ve been getting my fingers dirty playing it. The controls take a bit to get used to, but overall it’s pretty good. The graphics and sound are acceptable as well. There’s not much wrong with this port and if you love Final Fantasy, I think it’s worth the $8.99 price tag SquareEnix wants for it. Search for Final Fantasy in the iTunes App Store to purchase it.

The name of the app is called WootWatch and it’s primary purpose is to show you the latest item on woot.com. It’s great for those “woot-offs” where woot sells many discounted items per day. It shows a picture of the item and allows you to click to buy (redirects you to the website). It’s absolutely free, so I believe you should give it a try. Search for WootWatch on the iTunes App Store to purchase.

- Badwater Basin Hits Left 4 Dead 22010/04/13
In this video, I provide a quick playthrough of a new map for Left 4 Dead 2 (PC). This new map is actually not new to Team Fortress 2 players, but it is new to Left 4 Dead 2. It’s called “Badwater Basin” and it’s my favorite “payload” map in Team Fortress 2. The objective of this gametype in TF2 is to push the cart to the objective while the enemy tries to prevent it. In Left 4 Dead 2, the premise is very similar but it makes use of the “Scavenger” game type where you must fill the cart with gasoline to keep it moving. The zombies are doing their best to stop you from achieving your goal. This map is downloadable at: http://sites.google.com/site/jsparakov/level-design/badwater-basin and more information and support can be found on the steam forum thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1198241 Enjoy the video

- A Massive MAG (PS3) Walkthrough and Review2010/02/25
In this video, I provide a walkthrough and review of the multiplayer online game, MAG for Playstation 3.
Sponsor: Try GotoMeeting free for 30 days! For this special offer, visit www.gotomeeting.com/techpodcasts
MAG immediately stirred up controversy in the first person shooter realm when they claimed to support 256 online player matches. Sony and Zipper really pushed the marketing message over the past months and has set expectations that 256 players will be everywhere, all the time. It's easy to look at MAG and expect Sony and Zipper's promise to be apparent. When I stream MAG on http://live.bwana.tv, people often ask "Where are all the 256 players?". I try my best to explain the situation, but I really can't. That is primary motivation behind this video. I want to show you MAG. I want to show you why we love MAG and want to show you how 256 players is not the main thing that makes the game. I ask that you please watch the video in its entirety and have an open mind. It includes an introduction, walkthrough of the SVER interface, a domination match (256 players), and my final thoughts. It is truly massive (41 minutes) so you may have to consume it in chunks.

- A Bit About Network Latency: MW2 vs MAG2010/02/24
In this video, I share my thoughts on network latency also known as lag.
Sponsor: Try GotoMeeting free for 30 days! For this special offer, visit www.gotomeeting.com/techpodcasts
Specifically I’m going to focus on latency in first person shooter video games: MAG and Modern Warfare 2. The whole idea behind latency and lag is that you want to minimize it as much as possible. The more latency present, the more out of sync players will be with the action. First person shooters require precise timing and aiming so it can be very frustrating when you shoot at someone and they’re not actually there. Check out the video on more on this topic

- SquareEnix’s Response To Western Final Fantasy XIII Reviews2010/02/18
In this video, I give my thoughts on a touchy topic in the gaming world: game reviews.
Sponsor: Try GotoMeeting free for 30 days! For this special offer, visit www.gotomeeting.com/techpodcasts
The story about Final Fantasy XIII is not really my concern as much as the sad state of game reviews today. I agree with SquareEnix in that western point of views may differ from eastern ones, but you’re selling your game here so… it’s valid. However, the reviews that are published today are atrocious. I highly recommend you base your game purchases on much more than game reviews alone. You may be surprised how often you like games that have received poor reviews. Take care.
