Douglas steps away from phpBB Weekly for the first time and lets David take the helm.
- phpBB Weekly #029: Guest Yuriy Rusko (Marshalrusty)2007/09/08
David and Douglas will be joined by special guest Yuriy Rusko (Marshalrusty), phpBB Support Team member and an administrator on the phpBBHelp Unofficial Support Forum, who joins us to talk about giving phpBB support, both before and after he joined the Support Team. He will also be answering questions from the live participants! We also will spend some time remembering the contributions of a couple of MOD and Support Team members who have stepped down to resume their personal lives. Be sure to join us for this interesting episode of phpBB Weekly!
- phpBB Weekly #0282007/09/01
We're back from a two week break with another live episode of phpBB Weekly! A fifth release candidate of phpBB3 has been pushed out, and Acyd Burn has mentioned that he hopes it will be the last RC before gold. Are we in the home stretch of conquering Olympus Mons, and how much longer to get there? Plus, the MOD Team asks for MOD Database Feedback--our local MOD team expert (David, obviously) will recap some of the suggestions and we'll probably throw some more their way. That, plus the MOD and Style of the Week, your calls and questions, and potentially much more!
- phpBB Weekly #0272007/08/11
phpBB3 introduces a brand new backbone for itself, called modules. Everything you see in the User, Moderator, and Administration Control Panels are a collection of modules, and if you plan to write or install MODs which affect any of these control panels, youâ??re going to have to be able to know how to add, edit, and write modules for phpBB3. Fear not! In this episode, David will be going through the ins and outs behind modules so that both phpBB administrators and MOD authors can learn how to use them. And, of course, the MOD and Style of the Week, and answers to your questions, live on the show!
- phpBB Weekly #026: Guest Micheal Cottingham (Techie-Micheal)2007/08/04
In this episode, we will be joined by Micheal Cottingham, the phpBB Support Team Leader! Micheal and David will have a conversation about phpBB3's security features and programming, and of course we'll ask Micheal some questions about the Support Team and phpBB in general. (Plus, Micheal has plans to stump Douglas with a question or two, but that's supposed to be a surprise...) And of course, call in live (or come in the chat room) and Micheal will be here to answer your questions as well! Be sure to join us for what is sure to be a lively episode of phpBB Weekly!

Following our relaxing break, phpBB Weekly is once again live on TalkShoe! We're all awaiting the announcement of whether or not phpBB wins SourceForge's Community Choice Award. The announcement will be made at their 7/26 party, and posted online on 7/30, and we'll be sure to report the results if we receive any news! However, we have an even bigger announcement: our own David Lewis is the newest member of the phpBB MOD Team! We'll be celebrating for David and talking a bit about what this will mean for our show (it WON'T mean insider team info). Furthermore, smithy_dll and the MOD Team have announced a new refresh of MODX (dubbed MODX1.0.1). Douglas goes over what's new and what you need to know. Then, David will talk about the process of adding/editing modules in phpBB3. It's an intimidating process, but it's going to become a necessary part of installing phpBB3 MODs. Join us for this packed return episode of phpBB Weekly!
- phpBB Weekly #0242007/07/17
This special non-live episode of phpBB Weekly was originally planned to be numbered as #023SE, but we had such a great discussion that it turned out to be a full show! This episode welcomes back David Lewis (Highway of Life), this time as our new co-host. We have a very extended discussion about the release of phpBB 3.0.RC3, David's appearance on an SEO and Internet Tips Talkcast here on TalkShoe (and his mention of phpBB Weekly), and about Douglas' trip this weekend to WordCamp, along with doing a loose comparison between phpBB and the WordPress blogging platform. Enjoy this special episode, and join us on July 28th as we return to our regular live episodes of phpBB Weekly!
- phpBB Weekly #0232007/07/07
In this episode, we will officially induct our new co-host, David Lewis (Highway of Life)! Fresh from the MOD Authors Convention with the latest info, Douglas and David will be talking about the new MODX Template from the phpBB MOD Team, including what it's about, how it works, and how to write a MODX-compatible MOD by hand or convert a Text Template MOD over to the new format. Have any questions about the new MODX format? This is the show to ask them, so feel free to call in!

Going further down the road to the Gold Master release, phpBB3 RC-2 was released this week with no less than 113 features, changes, and bugfixes in the changelog. We will be looking at and examining the new version, and covering the best way to update to RC-2 (since we haven't had an officially supported phpBB3 update before!). In addition, the MOD Authors Convention will be going on during the episode recording. We will be covering all of the highlights from the convention in #phpbb-mod, including live updates of the discussion on phpBB MODding Documentation taking place while the show is being recorded. Plus, we might even have a MOD Team member join us on the show! Join us to talk about RC-2, MODding, and any other things you want to discuss during this jam-packed episode of phpBB Weekly!
Today's show doesn't start until Noon Eastern, but we'll be opening up a pre-show an hour early today to cover the previous session of the MOD Authors Convention.
- phpBB Weekly #021: Guest David Lewis (Highway of Life)2007/06/23
phpBB.com member Highway of Life has been working with phpBB3 and its code for over two years, and is the author of a number of phpBB3 MODs currently in development. He will join us to talk about phpBB3 MODding and also tips on how to build a website around phpBB3, and will also answer many questions about phpBB3. In addition, Douglas will offer a preview of what to expect from the 6/30 MOD Authors Convention.
- phpBB Weekly #0202007/06/16
What are you always encouraged to do before installing a MOD, or a style, or updating phpBB, or even just using phpBB on a day-to-day basis? Back it up! Douglas covers the various procedures (and a couple of helpful tools) for effectively backing up your database and your files, whether you're using phpBB2, phpBB3, or any other web-based application. And, as always, Douglas will be answering questions and discussing phpBB with the live audience. Hope you can join in!
