Info (Show/Hide)This mix was inspired by Mike Kemetic and the owners of the Nile Ethiopian Restaurant on Laurel Street near Broad Street on VCUs campus. A beautiful restaurant / bar that not only brings you great Ethiopian food, but a cool atmosphere to relax and connect. It should definitely be on your list of places to rendezvous.
When I first met Natan, one of the owners of the Nile, he had a peculiar sound that he wanted to bring to his venue. At the Nile, he spoke of soulful house, rhythmic sounds and a place for people seeking inspiration, solace and a renewed expression enhanced by beautifully crafted music (reminiscent of NYC Body & Soul Parties).
Kemetic (http:\\audiomasstransit.podomatic.com) hit me up later with their vision of AfroBeta which included what you will hear in this mix that travels for from down tempo spaced out jazzy funky afrobeat to sultry deep spiritual house. AFROBETA --> Come check out Mike Kemetic and special guest DJs spinning the best of Afrobeat, Soul, Funk and house every First and Third Thursday of each month (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Afro-Beta/256802884056?ref=ts). I started this set at the Nile and I hope to spin again in this environment.
Enjoy the sounds friends. Remember We Are One!
