  • One Year2006/04/30

I decided that I would celebrate my first anniversary as a Podcaster by giving myself a week off - deserved or not. Nevertheless, I couldn't leave you without something. So, here is a quick thank you for being a part of a fantastic first year and for the contribution you have made to my show, along with my most recent promo.

I wish I could thank everyone who made a contribution to Electric Sky. I can't. I'm afraid that I would leave names out. One person that must be singled out is my wife, Andrea, whose support, ideas and criticism has made Electric Sky a better program, and more fun and rewarding for me to produce.

I delayed the release of this show until I could connect with Ian Copeland , who is the feature guest of this show. Thanks for your patience.

Ian happened into the role of booking agent in the 1970's, following two tours of duty in Vietnam. Among the many artists he booked tours for are The Police, Sting, Squeeze, Ultravox, Gang of Four, The Go-Go's and Joan Jett. He now runs The Backstage Cafe in Beverly Hills, California, after retiring from Frontier Booking International, a booking agency he set up. His book, Wild Thing , is a great read!

I'm still learning the ropes of putting a show together. My inexperience and lack of planning means that I end up putting my shows together until the wee hours of the morning. I hope to get better at this over time. Feedback is always appreciated.

I wasn't planning on putting another Podcast out so soon. However, the circumstances demanded it. In response to a request I made to interview CBC's All In A Day host, Brent Bambury , on interview techniques and show preparation for the Electric Sky, I was invited to be a guest on the show - to interview and be interviewed. This Podcast follows my final preparations to appear on the show, nerves and all, through a soundseeing tour.

Show 7, complete with some didge, is dedicated to the memory of a good friend, Rick, who drowned while fishing on May 21, 2000. I miss you!

I managed to pull this show off while battling a head cold, sneaking sips of tea as I went. What a relief, particularly since I had the opportunity to get some pointers from Tod Maffin for my Podcast - pointers that we can all learn from.

The story of Philip Toshio Sudo is an interesting and inspirational one. He introduced the music world to Zen in his book Zen Guitar , a CD by the same name, and three other Zen books. Phil passed away at the very young age of 42, leaving behind a wife, children, and unfinished work. Phil's wife, Tracy, put me in touch with a friend and collaborator who has completed Phil's vision of a follow-up to Zen Guitar. In this show, I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation I had with Tobias Hurwitz.
