  • Somewhere In Germany2012/04/21

    Show #184, Release date: 20. April 2012

It’s been a while since I've done something from the Division Bell Tour.  For this podcast, we go to the city of a thousand fires in Germany and take a ride in a Pink Floyd Limited Edition Golf by Volkswagen, who sponsored Pink Floyd's 1994 European Tour.   Live from Parkstadion, Gelsenkirchen, Germany, 23. August 1994.

Although doctored for supersound, I recommend open room/car listening over headphones for this one.  If you use headphones, be careful and play at a lower volume.  You may need to adjust the high or lows to your liking.  Please leave your comments and let me know what you think.

First, I very big happy birthday to Nick Mason, who celebrates his 68th today.  Happy Birthday Nick and many happy returns!

2012 marks Floydpodcast's 7th year!  What better way to start it all off than without Pink Floyd.  Thats right, I asked some of you on the Floydpodcast Facebook Page to suggest an idea and this was one of them.  I've been meaning to do this kind of a podcast for a long time and it turned out to be one of the more challanging ones I've put together.  For this, we take a look at work Floyd members have done for other musicians.  It's an interesting listen and I hope you enjoy.

  • "Divine Providence"2011/09/05

    Show #175, Release date: 4. September, 2011

I found an amazing recording out of Providence, Rhode Island from Roger's 2000, "In The Flesh" tour. The name of the bootleg is "Devine Providence" and its the source for this podcast.  The quality was excellent without tweaking but as usual, it's been doctored up for super sound, big time.  In addition to the EQ'ing and whatnot, I removed (as best I could) as much wooo'ing, whistling, and any other annoying crowd noise.  I explain more in the podcast but this could totally pass for an official recording. Hope you dig it.

    Show #173, Release date: 12. July, 2011

Again the tradiition continues but it ends with this last 'Wall' show for me (until Roger's return to North America).  It would also be Roger's last in the U.K. for this tour.  A few sources popped up and two of the best have been remastered and mixed together for you right here only on Floydpodcast.com.  Most of the work went into removing some annoying clapping, yelling and whistling.  Also a little bit of digital interference from a nearby cell phone leaked its way into the recording but that too was removed.  Whats left is an amazing sounding boot (better than Birmingham).  From The M.E.N., Manchester, UK, 28. June, 2011.  Enjoy.

    Show #172, Release date: 4. July, 2011

In keeping with the tradiition of featuring each Wall show I've been to, here is the latest (for now).  Going to this gig in the West Midlands region of the UK was completely unexpected.  ...from the plane to the train in London to the show at the NIA with backpack in hand.  I was fortunate to attend and now you too can bask it's sonic bliss.  Shortly after returning home I discovered two different recordings.  So I mixed the two together and wow... from The NIA, Birmingham, UK, 27. June, 2011.

I've been meaning to post this for a few days but there was tweaking that still needed to be done. I think it's ready now. Enjoy!

  • Birmingham & Manchester UK 20112011/06/20

Hello!  It's now just a week from today, I'll be in Birmingham followed by Manchester, UK for two more gripping Wall shows.  I never imagined I'd be back in the UK so soon.  I can't thank Barry BURBs enough for his assistance in getting me over.  Barry used to produce and present a weekly podcast called, "BURBs Pod" which featured British underground rock music.

This will be a quick one for me...  I fly into London on the 27th and back to Boston on the 29th.   It's unlikely I'll be recording these shows.  Hopefully someone will step up and bang out a top notch, quality recording.   Anyway... if you see a tall guy with long hair and a baseball on backwards, its me.  I hope to see you there!

    Show #170, Release date: 22. May, 2011

In keeping with the tradition of featuring a Wall gig for every city I've seen it in, as promised, here's the big show from London.  This was my ninth time seeing The Wall and by far the most special.  It was the night David Gilmour returned the favor to Roger.  As things would have it, Nick Mason was also there and joined in.  The surviving members of Pink Floyd, reunited on stage for the first time since Live8.  It was amazing!  Roger and the band sounded tight and the sound is incredable!  I had an excellent location to record from and I'm pleased to present it to you.

Live at the O2 Arena, London, U.K., 12. May 2011.  With Special guests... David Gilmour and Nick Mason!

Fresh on the heels of my trip to the U.K., heres the latest podcast.  This was sort of an experiment by doing a few breaks (voicing) on the road from various Floyd related locations in London and Cambridge.  There are a few kinks I'll need to work out if I decide to do another location podcast (my shyness being one of them) but all in all... it came out well.

I had an amazing time and especially enjoyed meeting so many long time listeners for the first time.  Oh and as usual now, highlight below if you want to see the playlist.  Enjoy and please mind the gap!

Hey there!  Well, it's less than a week away before I jet off to the U.K.  The next podcast is lined up and ready for commentary from London and Cambridge as I visit some notable Floyd sites.  It's going to be very cool indeed.  I also hope to have the mic rolling before and during and after The Wall shows at London's O2.

I'll be attending the following nights at the O2

    - 11. May 2011 (section B1)

    - 12. May 2011 (section B3) -> it's this one!

    - 14. May 2011 (section 112)

    - 15. May 2011 (section A1)

Good friend of the podcast, Simon Wimpenny keeps an excellent blog about his travels and meeting people while following Roger and the band across Europe.  His site provides the following link with details on where countless Floyd fans will be meeting up for pre show drinks and good times!  It's close to the venue and I Hope to see you there!!

  • "Let's all have a clap!"2010/12/02

    Show #163, Release date: 2. December, 2010

Okay, it's been a long time no hear... It's podcast time.  This was my seventh show and hopefully I'll get to see more but for now this will be the last of 'The Wall Concert Series'.  For this, its the 6th of November from New York's Madison Square Garden. It was my first time at MSG and I thought it was interesting (and annoying) how venue's concession people were hawking during the show.  You may notice a few "ice cold beers here" and the refreshing sound of one or two being cracked open. The Band sounded great and it comes across nicely on the recording, but it did need a little doctoring up.  Enjoy and thanks for being so patient.

  • "A Few Things"2010/10/14

    Show #162, Release date: 31. October, 2010

Happy Halloween!  Continuing on with 'The Wall Concert Series', from Hartford, CT., 15th October at the XL center.  Its a very compact venue with a concert seating capacity of 16,606.  The venue was formally known as The Hartford Civic Center and was the former home of The Hardford Whalers.  Pink Floyd played here back in 1987.

This was my 6th time seeing the show.  Not many recordings exist of this night and this is one of only two I know of.  I explain a few things about the recording and I also provide three easy steps for getting that perfect recording.

If you think you might be interested in recording concerts and for more information on equipment and what to do, please visit The Sound Professionals .

A big thank you to RogFan for the recording.

  • "The Wall - Live In Cleveland"2010/10/19

    Show #161, Release date: 19. October, 2010

Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH, 28. September 2010.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this is by far the best recording to date from this tour.  Bold statement?  Hear for yourself and please comment.  I can't stop listening to it.

A big thank you to Ravingandrooling for a tremendous capture of a show and for entrusting me with the original files.  With those files, I was able to lift the sound during the quieter moments, enhance the space,EQ, and apply few other tricks.  I use the car test.  If it sounds good in a car, it’s going to sound good through anything.  Tested and approved... doctored up for supersound!

    Dig it.

  • "Rogah!"2010/10/02

    Show #160, Release date: 2. October, 2010

Surprise, surprise, surprise!  TD Garden, Boston, MA., 30. September 2010.  This is the first night of a three night engagement with today off for the band and crew.  Roger's last show in Boston is tomorrow before heading off to NYC (Yankees still suck).  In case you are wondering about the title, it's "Roger" said yelled in a Boston accent

A big thank you to JB and Deb1 for getting this out so quickly.  Its an excellent recording but as always I doctored it up for supersound!

If you would like to read more about this and the other Boston shows as well as other past gigs on this tour, check out my friend's blog, "Where ya been, where ya going?" .  Its an excellent read and its updated constantly as he travels with the band.

  • "Chicago Hits The Wall"2010/10/01

    Show #159, Release date: 1. October, 2010

And so it continues.  Perhaps a concert series?  Tell me what you think.  Anyway, The first US date kicked off in Chicago's United Center, 20. September 2010.  I won't post the setlist, BUT Again... the setlist should come as no surprise.

This was a first time for many seeing this intense production.  It was my first time.  I have a "no pee during a show" policy but close to the end of the first set, nature called and I couldn't hold it anymore.  The cool thing was I felt like Pink during the bathroom scene in the film because of the concert noise in the background.  You gotta try it! Anyway, I had such a blast meeting up with everyone from AFG again and I even got to meet some great new people.  It was a very special time.

For this podcast, I took two recordings and blended them together.  One by Ravingandrooling which I doctored up and another by Tapehead2, from his 2nd version.  It sounds mindblowing!  You be The Judge.  Get it?  Enjoy!

  • "With Friends Surrounded"2010/09/20

    Show #158, Release date: 19. September, 2010

Yeah I know... the title is Gilmour/Floyd but its appropriate.  If you are/were unable to visit Chicago for Roger's performance of The Wall, then this is for you.  The AFG forum member events are a special thing and sharing the fun with as many people as possible is what it's all about. RonToon of Harvested Records assembled a great collection of Roger Waters' songs, a soundtrack if you will for a dinner gathering at Gino's East in downtown Chicago.  I asked Ron if it would be cool to post this as a podcast at the exact same time its played for everyone at the dinner. So in spirit, you too can be with us as well.  No playlist folks... for this, we wish you were here.

  • "The Wall 2010 Spoiler"2010/09/17

    Show #157, Release date: 17. September, 2010

And so it begins.  The first of many shows from perhaps one of Roger's most anticipated tours since leaving Pink Floyd nearly 30 years ago.  The Wall 2010!

If you rather not spoil it for yourself, then don't listen but resistance is futile.  The recording is decent but it badly needed some tweaking. It was far too bassy, so I fixed that up and doctored it for supersound.  Enjoy!

Air Canada Centre Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 15. September 2010.  I removed the set list but it should come as no surprise.

    Musicians:
    Drums: Graham Broad
Guitars: Dave Kilminster, G.E. Smith, Snowy White
    Bass: Roger Waters
    Keyboards: Jon Carin, Harry Waters
Lead Vocals: Robbie Wyckoff, Roger Waters
Backing Vocals: Jon Joyce, Mark Lennon, Pat Lennon, Kipp Lennon

Special Thanks to Many (nerdlogger) for the recording.

  • "Boston 1975 Matrix"2010/08/16

    Show #155, Release date: 16. August, 2010

This podcast is a huge improvement to Show #56 - It took forever to do this.  Honestly I'm glad its done but I'm so enjoying the rewards of having a killer sounding recording and now you can too. This one is made up of two sources painstakingly mixed together.  You really get a feel for the space.

The Boston Garden was a great place to see a concert.  It was built at the cost of 4 million dollars in 1928 by the same people who built New York's Madison Square Garden.  It was originally called  Boston's Madison Square Garden and eventually "Madison Square" was dropped from the name.  The Garden was demolished in 1997.

The Floyd live at The Garden, 18. June, 1975.  Most enjoyable are the performances of You Gotta Be Crazy, which is different from both the 74 and 77 Dogs versions.  The set also has great versions of Any Colour You Like and one of the last pre-87 performances of Echoes.

Before that, I have for you, audio of the video footage from the Hoping Foundation gig featuring David Gilmour and Roger Waters.  Please, if you can, give to the HOPING Foundation!

Kiddington Hall, Oxfordshire, UK, 10. July 2010.

    Show #154 Release date: 25. July, 2010

Actually I didn't frame Roger.  Good friend and long time Brain Damaged listener Barry BURBs hit me up with a smashing good mix framed in the proper light.

Since I'm deeply immersed in my latest matrix project and with Roger making all the buzz lately, this seems rather fitting.  I always love when listeners generate content so keep em coming!

At Barry's request and in keeping with his podcasting style there will be no playlist for his one.  It’s a fun listen!  Don't forget to please leave your comments!  Thank you and enjoy!

  • "A Clearer View"2010/05/09

    Show #151 Release date: 9. May, 2010

I had normally planned on presenting my matrix recording from Foxboro, May 1988 as like an anniversary thing.  Unfortunately I had to abort the project because the edited files became corrupt.  The ghost in the Machine got the best of it.

A while back someone handed a copy of a mystery 1987 Floyd gig in hopes that I could identify it and found that it was from Floyd's last night at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, 28th September.  This podcast features that recording which I also discovered happens to be taken right from master, all doctored up to sound a little better.

    Show #150 Release date: 16. April, 2010

For this special edition of Brian Damage, accompanying us is RonToon of Harvested Records to discuss what Harvested does and to focus on their incredible sounding upgraded version of "BBC Archives 1967-1969".  The liner notes say "This release required a lot of work and took more than 6 months to complete. The purpose was to present each track in the best possible quality. The process was long because it was performed on a track by track basis. For each song, we had to compare many different sources in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each version and then decide which one(s) to work on. The mastering work was done very carefully, trying to repair every flaw that could be corrected... and there were a lot (tape warble, crackles, drop-outs, incorrect speed, etc)."   Enjoy!

The name of the podcast almost has nothing to do with the theme but it does describe the manner in which it progresses.  A few weeks ago I realized that I've never featured the KQED sessions in full, not even on the radio back in 2004.  Crazy I neglected this for so long and its long overdue.  For the rest of the podcast, I wasn't 100% sure what direction to take it.  Well, the other day, Craig Williams, who's responsible for the last podcast idea again suggested the following, "Years ago you did a podcast featuring a compilation of the Pink Floyd radio sessions, well how about doing one featuring their appearances on TV. As it focuses on the bands early years, it provides a nice contrast to recent podcasts"  He also suggested KQED.  What a coincidence and bingo.  We were watching TV... watching TV.  Please don't mind me flipping the channels.

I'm still working on the syncing project. So in the meantimem heres a quick podcast I whiped up thanks to Brain Damaged listener Jim Gilbert of Montgomery, Alabama who emailed "Why not the New Orleans Superdome show to feature in a podcast, to celebrate the Saints? (I'm actually a Pats fan, by the way.) It could work either way if they win, it's a Floydian lagniappe. If they lose, it's a consolation prize for all Saints/Floyd fans."  Excellent Idea!  Suggestions are always appreciated so keep sending them in.

  • An update...2010/01/31

Hello braindamaged listeners...  I figured I'd pop in and give a little update just in case you are wondering where/when the podcast is...  It's in the works and has been for a while...  I am considering posting something in the meantime but I'm so immersed in what I'm currently doing, its hard to think of something else.

Anyway...  During the Holiday break I was given a recording of a Floyd gig from the taper himself.  Funny thing too is I met the taper at the exact spot where it was recorded 22 years ago.  That's a hint by the way...   His recording is really good, with little crowd noise but had a lot of hiss.  Not long after, I found another recording of the same gig but the sound was much better but had crowd noise and two very wasted girls nearby.   After listening to each intently, I discovered that one recording picked up particular sounds that the other didn't and vice versa.  I know the venue very well (there's another hint)  and I can tell where each taper was located just from listening...but anyway, it got me thinking how it would sound if I put the two together.  So that’s what I've been working on.

I already remastered both but more so with the better sounding of the two and I'm using the lesser one as an ambient filler if you will.  The process of syncing the two recordings is very tedious due to the recordings being at different speeds and to top it off the speed shifts throughout the lesser recording making the process even more difficult.  The result however dramatically adds to the atmosphere.   I can't wait to finish it.

    Thanks for your patience!

  • "71 Montreux Master Reels"2010/01/11

    Show #146 Release date: 11. January, 2010

Welcome back!  During the holiday break Harvested Records gave a select few a sneak peak at an upcoming project with a set of master recordings from Floyd's 1971 Montreux gig.  These are the raw files as received and Harvested will be creating a definitive version in the near future.

The taper used 2 Sennheiser MD-421 and a Uher 4200 reel to reel recorder at 19ips. Concerning his rig at the time, he had the following to say about it...

"I had my UHER 'custom unbuilt' in multiple parts, so I could sneak it in more discretely. Then I built a whole 'neck-holder' (like the one Bob Dylan's used to hold the harp), a heavy construction sewed in a tough-tissued jacket (often way to hot to bear at concerts) and the two mics were placed niftily beside each ear hidden by my long hair..."

He also went on to say that he's never released this recording directly from the master tapes... that is until now.  The Pavillion, Montreux, Switzerland, 18. September 1971.

  • 'Wall of Floyd Weekend' at WAAF in Boston!2009/12/03

This is something I mentioned in the recent podcast below but thought I post it here too.  About a month ago the powers that be at my radio station, WAAF asked if I could help them with doing a Pink Floyd weekend focusing in on "The Wall".  Finally their resident Floyd DJ is called into action!  I was only asked to provide material but I wasn't involved in the actual programming... unfortunately.

Anyway, that weekend is now upon us and it's a "Walls Of Floyd Weekend" on WAAF.  We're celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Wall, by giving you 30 minute Pink Floyd blocks (get it?) every hour all this weekend!

I'll be on the air Saturday Night from 7pm to 12midnight EST (-5) here in the Eastern New England area on 107.3fm and 97.7fm WAAF.  If you are not local, you can still listen on line here! For when in your local time zone, click here!

It will be a little different from what you hear in my podcasts but it'll be almost as if Brain Damage was back on the radio again before it was a podcast.

If you are in the area, join me and WAAF as we kick off our Pink Floyd weekend with Pink Floyd tribute band, The Machine at Showcase Live on Friday night.  Doors at 6pm, show at 8pm.  Showcase Live is located at Patriot Place, next to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

That's not all!  After the show, we'll have a movie screening of "The Wall" in Showcase Cinema Delux right next door at Midnight.  I'll see you there!

  • "Cold Comfort For Change"2009/12/01

    Show #145 Release date: 01. December, 2009

Ivor Wynne Stadium, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, 28. June 1975. Here's a gig that been long overdue for a podcast..

This features the second to last performance of Echoes with Roger still in the band.  Their performance is excellent and the sound is amazing (after fixing it up of course).

It was the last show of the North American Tour so in a dramatic finale, Pink Floyd's crew decided to go out with a bang and used up their remaining pyrotechnics around the stadium scoreboard.  The explosion at the climax of the show was so intense it blew the scoreboard to pieces and shattered windows in neighboring houses.   All in the name of Floyd.

Please note this will be the last podast of 2009.  I wish you a safe and happy holiday season and a peaceful New Year!

  • Yet another setback...2009/09/09

My worst nightmare has come to fruition... A few days ago, one of my 4 year old, raid'ed internal harddrives decided it had enough.  In the process of fixing this (having to replace both drives), I accidentally deleted a partition in my external back up drive holding all my production programs, elements and even some music.  This caused a massive problem because when a partition is deleted, the machine won't see the drive and all its wonderful data.

I was able to recover most and I hope all the data which was very time consuming (14 hours) not to mention very stressing on my external drive.  The next step is to do a back up again but I have to get another drive (1tb) to do so (hopefully today).

So to make a long boring story short and boring... I'm hosed until further notice.  At the rate I'm going, it should not be long but there will be a lot of backing up, reinstalling, reconfiguring, testing and all that happy horse poop.

So, again... (this hasn't been my year) there will be no podcast this week and there is a 50/50 percent chance there will be one the following week.  This has turned out to be a costly and time consuming process so your patience is much appreciated.

    Best,
    Doc

  • "In The Video Zone"2009/08/01

    Show #138 Release date: 1. August, 2009

One hundred podcasts and 4 years ago this show entered the digital realm.  I had no clue what I was doing and I never imagined it would become so well received.  I can't thank you enough for your support.

For this special 100th edition, you'll get to enjoy Brain Damage this time in video.  Remember when MTV actually played music videos?  That's what this is like.

Before becoming a radio DJ, I worked in video production when BetaSP and 3/4" Umatic were kings.  A lot has changed since I left, so here I am again with no clue what I'm doing.

Quicktime is required to watch.  The file is large, at 654,135 KB which is 5 times the size of a normal podcast.  I'm in the process of trying to figure how to embed a video window here.  If you click on the file below it will launch Quicktime, but be patient.  Otherwise I recommend you right click and save as.

I have to thank my good friend Michelle for this would not of been possible without her.  Please enjoy (I hope this works on your end)!

  • "Pink Noise"2009/07/12

    Show #137 Release date: 12. July, 2009

    For
this installment, we go to Municipal Stadium, Cleveland, OH, 25. June
1977.  American shows in the summer of 1977 were particularly rowdy,
but this recording is probably most notable for the numerous cries of
“SIT DOWN!” throughout the show. Fortunately, the music on this release
comes out on top for the majority of the show.  The occasional
fireworks set off yet Roger manages to keep his cool during this
performance but by this time in tour he was already becoming agitated
by the carefree behaviour of these massive audiences.  Roger can be
heard shouting “46" during Pigs (3 Different Ones)
after the second verse, which is one of the identifiers for the
concerts on this tour, however he must have lost count because this was
    actually the 47th show.

The podcast kicks off with Jeff Beck live, last week at the Royal Albert Hall with David Gilmour as surprise guest, performing Jerusalem.

    Set One:
    01. Sheep
    02. Pigs On The Wing (Part 1)
    03. Dogs
    04. Pigs On The Wing (Part 2)

  • "Wish They Were Here..."2009/06/30

    Show #136 Release date: 30. June, 2009

Thank you so much for all the kind words.  My hearing is about 80% better.  It’s nice to hear somewhat in stereo again.  Now, while I’m still on the mend, here’s a neat little surprise I have for you.  I’m amazed that as soon as I step down for a brief moment, someone is ready to step up.  Brain Damaged listener, Luke of Cardiff, Wales put together something nifty I think you might like.

    Luke writes…
“I'm just finishing up a Pink Floyd mix I guess you'd call it...it's like an album length mix of songs, sounds, and other Floyd related stuff.  It's called Wish They Were Here: An Assorted Piece For Pink Floyd Lunatics . Don't know whether you'd be interested in hearing it?  I've looked through the archive and don't think you ever feature mixes or anything like that sent in or anything, but maybe it would be possible to give it a shoutout if people want to listen? I mainly made it for myself but would be cool if some other fans could enjoy it too”.

Luke goes on to say, “It's just over 60 minutes, and has a few vague themes to it. Syd, being one of them. It's not even particularly a mix featuring all my favourite songs so much as songs that I really like that seemed to fit to make an interesting hour. Hope you have the time to check it out man, and maybe even mention it on your show if you like it”.

Luke, you did a nice job, so many thanks for this!  I’m sure it will be enjoyed by thousands and fetch many comments.

  • There will be a slight delay...2009/06/25

    Hey brain damaged listener!

I want to let you know that the next podcast will be posted on or around the 11th or 12th of July.  There are a few reasons for this...

    1.  I have no hearing in my left ear.  It sucks big time.  I had a terrible head cold last week and it decided to settle in my left ear.  Since I cannot properly hear, I'm unable to properly doctor up the next podcast.  I've sought medical advice and I'm told it will clear up within another week.  I hope.  If not, then I'll have to make a visit to Massachusetts General Hospital's Ear, Nose and Throat Infirmary.  FUN!

    2.  I'd normally just post a new podcast the following week but that lands on the 4th of July.  I've made plans to spend time with family and friends for the holiday.

    3.  My computer (a.k.a. the production studio) needs to be seriously reformatted so I can continue to bring you these bundles of Pink Floyd goodness.

So there you have it... Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.  As always, your support means the world to me.  Hopefully I'll have everything all set by then.

    Cheers n' Beers!!

    Show #132 Release date: 10. May, 2009

This is a little experiment I've been thinking about for a long time. I just got back from a week on the west coast and the amount of time left to get a new podcast done properly is running short.  I figured this is might be the perfect opportunity to reintroduce some archived and forgotten about episodes.

This previous podcast, originally BD42 "Floyd's Worst Moments", featured some of Floyd's not so good moments on stage dealing with technical glitches, power outages, Mother nature and Roger's short temper to name a few.  ...rather fitting after the last podcast.

So, is reintroducing older podcasts an idea worth perusing every once in a while?  Please leave your comments and ideas.

Apologies for the delay on this.  The production process was plagued with technical difficulties.  Plus there was massive amounts of tweaking I had to do several times after not being satisfied with each end result.  It's not the worst but its not the best but it is an interesting gig.  I also had problems with the upload.  Maybe Floyd's luck, or rather lack of with technical issues was contagious.

For this podcast we go to an often forgotten land.  It was Floyd's first and last visit to this country in the Fennoscandian region of northern Europe.  Suurhalli, Lahti, Finland, 10. June 1989.  Enjoy!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better... This is an upgrade to the previous 9. May, 1977 podcast "Look Mommy, there's an aeropig up in the sky" (Show #70 Release date: 13. October, 2006).  As it turns out, it was recorded by Reinhart Holhwein.  Not Bill Graham Productions as previously thought.

Reinhart's recording landed in the lap of a master of mastering, Derek McCabe of 'Mouth of the beast ', a group of people who master live recordings, mostly Grateful Dead stuff.  The clarity is much better.

    Show #128 - Release date: 15. March 2009

Here's an excellent soundboard recording from the Orange Bowl in Miami, 1. November, 1987.  It was a very rainy evening.  So much so that it kept the Pig from making an appearance.  As the show progressed, so did the rain.  Listen closely for the delicate sound of thunder off in the distance while Gilmour comments on the weather.

This recording had several glitches repaired before it landed in my lap but I noticed a few others that got over looked.  I repaired those, lifted the sound and gave it a wider presence, EQ and all that jazz.  Enjoy!

    Show #127 - Release date: 28. February 2009

This podcast was taken from a bootleg called "The Good & The Bad."  I left out the bad and give you the good but still lots of tweaking was necessary for this one.

Originally Floyd was scheduled for the 21st but a second show was added at the last minute.  Both shows were recorded by EMI and later had pressed white-label acetates, which included an interview with David in French.  Not much came from these recordings but it's likely they would of been used for promotional purposes and not for commercial release.

The first podcast for 2009 comes from a suggestion of another Brain Damaged listener who thought it would be cool to have Floyd songs that appeal to children.  I think quite a bit of Floyd is suitable for children. They might not like it, but it won't hurt'em.  They may even love Pink Floyd.

This podcast is for the little one in your life.  Most of what's featured is early for it seems to have a more playful tone.  Part of the show consists of one long set with some cool sound effects thrown in.  This was a challenging theme and I hope I pulled it off.

    1. Here I Go [David Gilmour, BBC"s Radcliffe and Maconie Programme, 9. December 2008]
    2. Embryo [BBC's Top Gear, Paris Cinema, London, England, 16. July, 1970]
    3. Night of a Thousand Furry Toys - Broken China
    4. See Emily Play - "Arnold Lane” B-Side, Acetate #2

    Show #123 - Release date: 7. December 2008

The Division Bell Czech Republic Tour was an official leg during Floyd's European tour.  The band even had special, lavish tour programs made.  Unfortunately those programs never
arrived in time so many were destroyed.  This is a fairly decent recording of Floyd's first and only Czech concert appearance, 7. September 1994, Strahovsky Stadion, Prague, Czechoslovakia.

This will be the last podcast for 2008.  Thank you for all the kind words and for your continued support.  Best wishes to you for a happy holiday and a peaceful new year!

    Show #122 - Release date: 14. November, 2008

Halloween has always been a flagship holiday in the jam band
community, second only to New Year's Eve. And with a band like Gov't Mule ,
expecting something special is more than fair. Phish are attributed with
getting the Halloween spirit going in the jam world with a performance of The
Beatles' The White Album in its entirety on 10.31.94. Years later, we've seen
costumes and covers of all colors and genres. But, on Halloween 2008, Mule
outdid themselves with a second set packed full of Pink Floyd tunes from
    throughout the psychedelic pioneers' career.*

  • Floyd founder Wright dies at 652008/09/15

I'm speechless, in shock and very saddened... I can't remember the last time I was this teary eyed.

"Pink Floyd keyboard player and founder member Richard Wright has died aged 65 from cancer.

Wright appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the
Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger
    Waters and Nick Mason.

David Gilmour joined the band at the start of 1968 while Barrett left the group shortly afterwards.

Wright penned songs on classic albums including The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.

Wright's spokesman said: "The family of Richard
Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness that
Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer.

"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

I almost decided to call the show "Denver matrix”.  Instead this podcast gets its title from the forum on Col Turner's website pinkfloydz.com .

A very large group of great people from the forum came out to Denver to meet up and enjoy Roger Waters at the Pepsi Center.  I was very fortunate to be amongst them.  It was a time to be had.

Finally, a Denver recording has become available.    Not one, but two different sources popped up, so I decided to kick it up a notch and make a matrix of the two.  The result is impressive.  I've been eagerly waiting to share this moment with you.  Enjoy!

  • "Against The Grain"2008/05/31

    Show #112 Release
    date: 30. May, 2008

If any of you fellow Floydians or Floydettes dig Trance, Techno,
Ambient House music then this podcast is right up your alley.  If you don’t like that kind of stuff, an open
    mind is required.

Remember Golgo Hakase?   He did a nice job with his Far East podcast… episode
    109.  Check it out if you haven’t.  He sent something else along.  Golgo says “Doc, hope this doesn't get you
hot.   I know Floyd fans are pretty
divided on the Trance Remix thing. I've
been playing around with them for a while now and I've come up with an extended
80 minute jam of what I think are the best of the remixes.   I compiled one track from almost every Floyd
album that's been remixed and a few extras to boot”

  • "Torn Into Bacon"2008/05/18

    Show #111 Release
    date: 17. May, 2008

Finally an end to 20 years of waiting for this rare concert recording to
appear.  For this podcast we go back to May 6 1988, Sullivan Stadium, Foxboro , Massachusetts .

It's the standard set list but the band sounds tight and gives the crowd a
great performance. The pig met an unfortunate end when it was grabbed by the
audience and torn to shreds. Fortunately, the band kept a spare inflatable on
    hand.

Nick thinks we (because I was there) were "an
overly-enthusiastic or fanatically vegan audience."  David asked the
crowd, "Did you enjoy your way with our pig?" He then adds, "I
don’t know what the fuck happened to it… seems like a lack of discipline will
get you torn into bacon around here."

    Doctored for supersound, enjoy!

  • "Brain Damage IN Denver"2008/05/02

    Show #110 Release date: 1. May, 2008

After a two hour delay leaving Denver due to snow, I finally made it back to Boston.

Before I get into what this podcast is, I've got to say, the Denver meet up was tremendous!  Its was an amazing, kick-ass time, I'll never forget.  I met a lot of great people and hopefully made some new friends.

Roger and the band sounded the best I've heard from the Dark Side tour(s).  There's a good chance you'll get to see it on DVD in the future. (and hopefully a near future podcast)

For those of you who didn't go, we wished you were there. Before the show (and after) we all met at a cool bar across the street from the Pepsi Center, called Brooklyn's .  This special version of Brain Damage was created for in-house play for AFG members at the bar before the show.  It was difficult to hear inside but outside, it was cranked very loud and it was very cool.

This podcast features the interests and work of Nick Mason. Most
people wouldn’t know it but Nick Mason contributed more than just his
drumming.  He’s done some of Floyd’s stage
design and graphics.  He’s even done some
vocals on occasion.  As for his
interests, Nick is a pilot instructor and race car driver.  His love for cars even allowed him the chance
to design VW’s limited edition Pink Floyd cars in 1994.  Rev up those engines… finally, its Nick’s

    Show #105 Release
    date: 22. February, 2008

On the 23rd of May 1968, Pink Floyd performed
three shows in one evening.  One gig was
    just outside Amsterdam
but the other two were at Paradiso.

The venue was once an old church and has high ceilings and a
    balcony overlooking the stage area.
Imagine how cool it must have been watching Floyd perform A Saucerful of Secrets with three large
illuminated stained glass windows above the stage.

These two gigs took place within the first six months of
Paradiso’s opening as a publicly-subsidized youth entertainment center.  It was also one of the first locations in
which the use and sale of soft drugs was tolerated, so space out and enjoy.

    Show #103 Release date: 25. January, 2008

The Complexity of staging The Wall live meant that Pink Floyd could not take it on the road, as they had done with live performances of their previous albums.  Instead, The Wall had to be set up days in advance at a select arena, performed for a series of shows, and then dismantled over the course of a couple of days.  As a result, The Wall was performed in only two venues in the United States, and two more in

Europe, for a total of just 31 shows.*  This show is the third of six at Earls Court, 6th August, 1980.

Okay… this is the third time posting this.   The first time I left out the last break.  This time I somehow accidentally deleted the

deleted as well.  I’m wicked sorry about
that.  Please, feel free to repost.

At the suggestion of a fellow Brain Damaged listener, Fede from
Argentina , here's a fantasy live set of Wish You Were

    Show #98 - Release date: 9. November, 2007

Originally featured on Brain Damage Show #32, Air date: 1.

September 1994.  Torino was former host city of the 2006 Winter Games, It's located in the shadows of the Italian Alps close to the French and Swiss
    Borders.

Taken from the soundboard, this recording could render your copy of PULSE
useless had Floyd played all of Dark Side of The Moon on this one, but alas, they
don't.  So, you better keep your copy of PULSE around for good
    measure.

This is the only soundboard recording floating around from
Floyd’s 94 Division Bell tour.  The audience
as well as the band were having fun and David even gets to practice his Italian a
    little bit with
    the crowd.  During Money,
David slips up on the lyrics and starts laughing.  Later, the girls on
back up vocals start having their own fun when they unexpectedly started jamming
    on kazoos.
