Issue 2 - Cotton Pickin' Skimmins
2012/05/01
Hey gang, welcome back to the second episode of our relaunch! Wheeeee!
We start off with our age-old tactic of insulting lots of famous comic book writers and artists - and then ask them to come on the show. It's got to work one of these days, right?!?!? We discuss some news, including two really stupid things that DC is doing: firing Chris Roberson, and putting out zero issues of their really really new comics. (See, we didn't even throw Before Watchmen in there, because WE ARE NICE PEOPLE)
We have some reviews, Cally does Cold Storage (with musical accompaniment - hooray!), Spence pulls out his sweaty, musty old sack for us all to enjoy, and Perfect Strangers is mentioned! Now we do the dance of joy!

Issue One - Dan Fraga Interview - TPB Relaunch! - ECCC Wrap-up!!!!
2012/04/20
Our longtime friend and all around good guy Dan Fraga drops by the basement again to talk about his role as director of the Ricky Gervais Show! Season three premieres Friday, April 20th on HBO. he lets us peak behind the curtain of the amazing show and delights with some very funny stories. The interview then gets more intimate with Dans feelings about his comic book career. We owe this dude way more than we can ever repay!
After our chat with the mega-awesome Dan Fraga, we get into our podcast relaunch! Whoo hoo, we're starting with #1 again! Next up, #600.1 (Marvel-style!)
Cally has a "pants Pinocchio" as we discuss the latest and greatest comic news, including Mark Waid's digital throwdown. After the news, we share our memories and reviews of our second trip to Emerald City Comic Con! We had a wonderful time, ate burritos, played some HeroClix, talked to some creators, and bought some comics. Spence reviews Joelle Jones' "Girl Who Owned A City" and Ed Brubaker's "A Complete Lowlife", and Ryan reviews "First Moon", "Between Gears", and new (to Ryan) James Baker mini-comics!
All this, plus Cally reads some Teen Titans, and the return (even though it's not official canon anymore because of our relaunch) of Spence's Musty Old Sack! Hooray!
Join us again, won't you?
We love you.

So you think you know all about that underground crime lab located beneath Wayne manor from which Batman bases his global war on crime? Think again! The Brothers Douglas have brought you another installment of "A Beginner's Guide to Comics," featuring the Batcave. Listen as we take you back to civil war era Batcave all the way through it's present incarnation. We talk about all of the items Batman has lifted off of crime scenes and brings into his Hall of Trophies. As a bonus, we even get to see a silly fat Alfred.
Please enjoy our discussion as we give you way more than you ever wanted to know about the Batcave. Thanks for listening. Please let us know if there are any other guides you want us to do at talesfromtheparentsbasement@gmail.com
Issue 89 - See You In Heaven, 2011!!!
2012/01/10
Issue 89 - See You In Heaven, 2011!!!
The entire gang - with the exceptions of Cally, Nate, and Jim - get together for a fond look back at the comics and great times of 2011. Tears are shed, laughter is shared, remembrances are remembered, cities are built (you'll get it later), and auld langs are syne'd. (It increases their value, by the way)
We discuss some news, including some really moving tributes by Spencer to some recently and dearly departed comic book creators (R.I.P.). Ryan then shares some news that will make his 2012 be the greatest year ever (until the world ends next December, of course). Mark, Spence, and Ryan all share their top 6-14 comics of the year, even though Spence has to dip out to get yelled at for a little bit. This fortunately allows Ryan and Mark to talk about their special bond - a bond so moving and intimate that no one else can understand! (especially Spence!!!)
Hope to see you all next year, everyone! (or this year because the show was out a little late... oops.
Musical Selection: " The Way We Were " by Barbara Streisand
Issue 88 - Yule's Fools
2011/12/17
Hey everybody, it's us again! Full of assorted nogs and holiday cheer, the TPB gang lights a yule log and spreads some seasonal joy (and maybe some DNA) by talking about the inevitable Watchmen prequel, Nicolas Cage making tons of $$$ selling his Action Comics #1 (which might spark Cally's new career as an auction buyer), and we also talk about how clones may or may not have souls.
Ryan fondly bids adieu to Batman: The Brave and The Bold cartoon which Spence - somehow (hint: illegally) - saw months and months ago. Marvel cancels a whole bunch of stuff and the Muppets Take The Megaplex. For the second episode in a row we talk about Condorman, do some trash talk of Bendis and Liefeld, and then talk about the "Death Wish" movies for some reason and how racist they were. This then prompts a racist joke from Ryan, instead of Cally. Please forgive him, everybody. (Tis' the Season, after all!)
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Issue 87 - Orphans Are Sad
2011/10/26
Hello, listeners! Nice to see you again. It's been a while since the TPB gang has graced your earholes with some audio delights, so let's party like it's 2003!!! Spence, Mark, Jim and Ryan take a little while to warm up to their old podcasting ways, so they talk about other podcasts they could start, reminisce about Condorman, and share some exciting (and some not-so-exciting) news from NYCC. (No offense meant to you, Mark Bagley!) After reviewing a whole slew of things - including books from old pals/TPB alums Mike Raicht, Kirk "Manly" Manley, and Jamie S. Rich - , the boys talk about comic book shows and movies that exist, and some that don't! The TPB gang also realizes a sad universal truth - most orphans are probably pretty depressed. Bummer.

Issue #86 - DC Comics Did Something Exciting!
2011/09/16
Hey everyone! Have you heard the crazy news? People are talking about DC Comics! No, not just Anne Hathaway's dumb costume or the crappy Wonder Woman TV show that never aired - but the actual comics themselves!!!! Not only that, they are selling a F-Load of issues! What is this, Elseworlds?!?!?!
Batman cries with joy as we talk about the DC madness that is sweeping this nation! We review all of the newly relaunched comics that came out (as of the taping), Ryan helpfully points at comic panels you can't see, and we give you the nitty-gritty on what's going on. We also wag our finger at greedy comic stores! Mark gets some Lemire love-time, and Spence gets to talk about Liefeld! That's a Win/Win, folks. All this, plus we give some shout-outs to a group of local hometown heroes! Don't worry anymore, Ryan and other drunks of Ogden, Utah - someone is here to help!
Reviews for this week: A lot of DC stuff.

Issue 85 - I Am The Amazing Issue 85!
2011/08/22
Welcome, friendly neighborhood Basementators! In this Spectacular episode we get down to business with lots of news for y'all! Wonder Woman de-pants, KA-BOOM deflates, the new Batman movie will not suck (despite the photographic proof it will), DC hires a couple of women, Hellboy has a rough day, and Cally once again proves he's a lunatic foaming-at-the-mouth RACIST. Plus, we get lots of phone beeps and Ryan goes off about Secret Avengers #15 for far too long. And hey - NATE'S BACK, and he says a few words!
We could have made a joke in here about "web-shooters" and "sticky fluid" all over the place - but we chose to refrain. Hey, look - personal growth!!!

A Beginner's Guide to Comics with TPB featuring Captain America - Ep. 1
2011/08/01
Here at Tales from the Parents' Basement, we are committed to giving you top notch education in addition to all the normal stuff we cram down your throats. Today, (mostly because we had issues getting the crew together) we bring you the first episode of our "A Beginner's Guide to Comics." This is a show where we pick out a character from comics and impart our vast knowledge to you, dear listener, about this character.
Because of all the recent release of Captain America: The First Avenger, there has been a renewed interest in Captain America. We thought what a perfect time to get a spike in downloads! So, our first installment of "A Beginner's Guide to Comics," will feature the Sentinel of Liberty himself.
"But wait!" You say, "I have been reading Cap all my life, I don't need a beginner's guide." Rest assured that there is something in here for everyone. We have dug to the utter depths of nerdom in order to bring you information that you may not have known.
Sit back, relax, and go buy those damn war bonds!!!!!
Issue 84 - We Live!
2011/07/26
Lightning streaks across the sky, temporarily lighting the graveyard for podcasts below. Tucked away in the back portion of the graveyard sits a lonely tombstone. No one has ever come to visit this poor podcast's grave. No one loved this wretched being while it was alive, and in death it somehow is loved even less.
Another flash of lightning again illuminates this final resting place for this despised creature. But what's this?..... did you see that?!?!.......... the ground........ it was moving! A pale, emaciated, and nerdy hand bursts forth from the grave clutching a back-issue of Sgt. Rock, a Jubilee HeroClix and.... VENGEANCE!
Flee in terror as the TPB gang rises from the grave to once again haunt and befoul your mind and earholes. We discuss the Captain America movie, Comic-Con, bash Matt Fraction for a while, and then talk about some stuff we've been reading.
Aaahhhhhhhh - it's good to be back.

Issue 83 - Better Never Than Late
2011/07/01
As always, we here at TPB like to challenge popular preconceived notions and social norms. Today we put the old saying of "Better late than never" to the test!
Everybody in the world has opinions on DC's upcoming company-wide relaunch. Now you can listen to ours! Will DC scrap their plans after they hear this, or proceed? I guess we'll find out!
Put on your thinking cap and concentrate to remember all the way back to early May of 2011. There was a day in which comic shops across the country gave you a whole bunch of free comics - remember that? Like an extended "Cold Storage" segment, we talk about those comics of yore! Ahhhh, the good old days....

2011/05/19
A cool breeze gently blows by. Fading sunlight beautifully transitions into twilight. Laughter is shared amongst dear friends. Far in the background, children play and enjoy their carefree youth. This is the best of times.
That's right folks.......... Cally is on vacation! It's just Mark, Jim, Spence and Ryan tonight!
We begin with some news - including Spence's stalking of a significant comic artists - and some discussion of the new Thor movie - eat your words, Ryan! Even though the gang loves the movie, they still talk about their nerdy issues with it. (That's the whole goddamn point of the internet and podcasts, isn't it?) Then Spence gives us a great review of the action-packed and sexy "The Ride" (volumes 1 and 2) by local writer Doug Wagner. We also then have a discussion of the preview of "My Maker & I" by our pal Owen Johnson from the fantastic gentlemen at Accent UK!
We then snuggle up to each other and spoon while talking about this week's review! We hope that you can feel our tenderness and love.

Episode 81 - Comic Book Movies with Jamie S. Rich
2011/05/06
Hello Basementeers!! Guess who dropped by the basement again?? Jamie S. Rich, and we are delighted! We even straightened the place up a bit. Jamie is a hell of a fun guy to talk to and knows a lot about comics and film. He has written some of our favorite books such as "You Have Killed Me," "Spell Checkers," and "12 Reasons why I Love Her." Although the primary reason he showed up this time is to discuss with us the topic of comic book movies which seem to be all the rage lately. He had the chance to get an early showing for the new Marvel film, "Thor," and he shares his opinions on it.
Check Jamie out at his blog http://confessions123.com
After, the guys get down to their usual nonsense. We embarrass Ryan by reading his letter which caused Superman to stop by our hometown of Ogden, UT. We also review two great books by Boom Studios: Peanuts - Happiness is a Warm Gun and Planet of the Apes #1.

Issue 80 - Final Future Fantasy Foundation (Sexy edition)
2011/04/02
The lights were dimmed, the candles lit, and the pants removed. Sounds like it's time for another sexy episode of TPB!
What do we have in our boudoir for you fine listeners?
We tenderly ease tons of news into your ears and brain. Geoff Johns is a swinger with more and more comics, Showtime gets some oral action with Chew, Marvel flashes their new creative teams for Punisher and Daredevil, and Rob Granito is a douchebag. Ryan professes his love for Amy Adams - and hate for Lois Lane - even while his microphone (a Garth Ennis fan) tries to commit suicide from boredom. Cally tells horrible jokes that need to be explained. Jim fields awesome questions for Cally from Twitter, and Mark uses his sexy voice.
All in all, it's a damn good time. And we hope that you had one too!

Episode Sixty-Nineteen! (79)
2011/03/22
Welcome to issue sixty-nineteen! All of our listeners in France will get it. For the rest of you, this is issue #79.
We're honored to have the ever-clever Claire Douglas start us off and join us for a little superhero talk. Then Cally ruins everything by swearing in front of her. The rest of the crew tackles Spence to try and maintain his rage, but to no avail. Spence shoots Cally in the face with a .45. This is America folks; that's how we roll. Mark sits back with a cigar and a sifter of scotch and laughs at the whole scene.
That's all fabricated, unfortunately. Cally is still alive and babbles through the rest of the episode. And Mark doesn't smoke.
Ryan bombards the crew with a bunch of news on everything, which forces us to mention Brendan Fraser, not once, but TWICE! Jim "toots his own dick" during his Emerald City Con report, and Ryan drops an atomic bomb on the crew with his announcement of discontinuing his Thor holds (great Odin's eye! Is he serious?!?).

Issue 78 - Pancake Time!!
2011/03/02
Hello again, Basementators! Nice to see you all again. You look great!
In order to accommodate Ryan stuffing his fat F'ing face with pancakes, the gang rushes through this episode in record time! But that doesn't stop us from Bring(ing) The Noise (and by "Noise", I mean "News") with lots of talk about the Fantastic Three, Batman and Superman movie casting info, Spider-Man movie stuff (including discussion of the pics of him being banged by some dude), Captain America movie news, 2010's best selling comics, Tony Moore's artwork being stolen, and much more!
Cally gets made fun of - especially by Ryan, who needs pancakes to be happy - and then proceeds to do a Cold Storage, with great musical accompaniment!

Issue 77 - Ben Templesmith Interview!!!
2011/01/29
Artist extraordinaire, writer, and all-around snappy dresser Ben Templesmith drops by The Basement to unleash his razor-sharp wit upon us! You know Ben from his work on 30 Days Of Night, Choker, Fell, Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, Criminal Macabre , and much much more. Mr. Templesmith is crazy-busy, but he graciously let us talk to him about his comics, Macs vs. PC's, thumbing his app/ass, Jim in a dress, vacationing in Barrow, free (?) sketches, and drawing balls. Enjoy his verbal decimation of us and our sad attempts at comebacks in this awesome interview!
If comic books bottom out and cease to exist, fear not about Ben Templesmith - he would make a killing as a stand-up comedian. Dude is truly funny as hell.
Check Ben out at:

and then go BUY HIS STUFF!
Thanks again, Ben - we really appreciate it!
After the interview, Jim and Ryan had to leave and we talk some comic news. We are joined by Nate of the late "Nate's Corner." Cally, as usual, makes an absolute fool of himself
Issue 76 - Weiner Tales! (Or Tales Of Our Parent's Burnt Weiners)
2011/01/07
Our brothers from the Burnt Weiners comic podcast had a dandy idea - "let's nerd up together and do a Best-Of-2010 episode!"
Mark, Cally, Ryan and Jim (for a little while, until he died) join up with the Weiner Boys, while the sadly absent Spence sat at home and coughed up blood. But don't worry Basementeers - even though there is other people, you get plenty of us! As always Cally makes lame jokes, you can't hear Ryan, Mark talks about Marvel mutie books, and there's plenty of dirty talk. So we hope that you enjoy our best-of 2010 lists!
The Weiners gang are awesome dudes, and we had a great time doing this with them (even though they are way funnier than us, damn their eyes...)! Plus, they edited this monster, so double-kudos on them!
Special thanks to Adam Warrock, who was kind enough to let us us some of his awesome tracks for the music on this show. You can find more information on Adam Warrock on www.adamwarrock.com and find his music on Itunes and Amazon.
Here's looking forward to 2011 with more comics - and hopefully - more episodes!
Please check out our Weiner friends at http://www.burntweiners.com/ for more dirty hilarity!
Issue 75 - Jocks vs. Hot Dicks
2010/11/19
Hey everyone! It's been a while since we had the whole gang back together, and so there is much rejoicing (but not from Spence) as we are joined again by Cally and Mark (Nate is still M.I.A., sadly...). We get right into it by talking about "hot dicks" much to the discomfort of Spence's wife. There is news aplenty as we discuss Fables 100, Amazon's Top 10 graphic novels, Cap vs. Spidey, live Batman action (with promised singing from Ryan), the Firebreather cartoon, and more. We have a heated discussion about sports vs. comics (or more appropriately, Cally vs. Jocks) that forever drove a wedge betwixt Cally and Jim, Twitter trash talk, and then discuss the Walking Dead TV show. Mark says "Y'all", Cally makes a three-way joke, Spence mispronounces words to comedic effect, and then we move on to regular reviews with a bonus Superman: Earth One review by Jim, and a Cold Storage (with piano accompaniment) from Cally!
Pardon the sincerity for a moment, but honestly, thank you for listening to us. We're just comic fans like you, and so it means a lot that you would choose to listen to us. We may not be the most professional unit around, but we'll always be fans, and that's why we will continue to do it - we love comics, plain and simple.

Issue 74 - Skottie Young Interview!!
2010/11/03
Ladies and Gentlemen! We are very pleased to welcome to the basement, the very talented Skottie Young, artist of Marvel's Oz adaptations. You may have also seen his amazing cover work he does for Marvel. He does a hell of a job, and we were literally gushing over him the whole time. Our Co-host Cally gets on the mic at one time, and Skottie puts him in his place which no other creator has done yet. We hope this marks the beginning of a tradition of Cally's favorite creators pointing out his idiocy.
Skottie was cool enough to walk us through his artistic process. He is very good about sharing his techniques. If you go check out his website at http://www.skottieyoung.com you can find many step by step looks into his artistic techniques.
Check him out there and you can also find him on Twitter at twitter.com/skottieyoung . He is a hell of a guy and very fun to talk to!
After that, Ryan joins us and we talk about comics. We review a new comic from AccentUK, "Fall of the Wolfmen." Seriously people, Listen to us! You cannot say we didn't tell you so. Do yourself a favor and go to their website and check them out and then get your hands on a copy of "Fall of the Wolfmen," ASAP! We also talk about "Warlord of Mars," "Locke and Key," and much more....
Issue 73 - Guy Davis Interview!!!
2010/10/20
That's right, it is issue 73, even though Cally calls it issue 72 on the show! We are extremely blessed to have on of the coooolest people on earth on the show this week - and he just so happens to be one hell of a comic artist! Guy Davis stops by the basement this time for a little chat. Guy has done work for Marvel, DC and other publishers but has seriously exploded at Dark Horse. He has been doing work for the Hellboy spin-off, B.P.R.D and has quickly made it his own with a unique visual style and a story telling ability that is perfect for this universe.
Guy tells us a little about how he got into comics to begin with, and then how he got hooked up with Mike Mignola to be an artist in the hellboy universe. We learn how he went from being the artist that was known for drawing hats really well to the guy who can draw monsters. Guy tells us about his process and techniques he uses to come up with the amazing stuff that we see on the page.
Mr. Davis also tells us about his ongoing creator owned project called the marquis. He started this all the way back in 1997 and has released several volumes with more to come. It is amazing! You should pick that up from dark horse comics yesterday!
You can find news, info and much more on Guy Davis at his website www.guydavisartworks.com
Thanks so much Guy!
After the show, Jim, Cally and Spencer continue on without some of the other regulars on the show and prove that they no longer need the others. We have all of our regular segments this time including "Cold Storage," and "Spence's Sack." This week we review Uncanny X-Force #1 and Batman: Hidden Treasures #1. Also, We don't want to spoil anything, but we stumled into comedy gold this issue. You don't want to miss the greatest thing that has ever happened to this show since its inception (other than our amazing creator interviews, of course). So keep listening after the interview!

Issue 72 - Cally Hates Robots (amongst other things)
2010/10/14
Mark, Cally and Ryan bash out a show without the stern and dictatorial guiding hand of Spence and professional PR skills of Jim. (Will it stand the test of time? Email us in about 10 years and let us know, okay? Kthnxbye! )
Tons of comic news this week including a new Wonder Woman tv show, Deathstroke/Col. Tigh on Smallville, Emma Stone (bless her cutie heart) in the new Spider-Man movie, the sure-to-be-awful Spider-Man musical (including a bad Bono joke from Ryan and an awesome Wolverine song from Mark), Comic Con staying in San Diego for now, and the upcoming Avengers cartoon.
We then review Z Girl & The 4 Tigers (please check out http://zgirlandthe4tigers.blogspot.com/ for more information!), and Ryan slips in a Star Trek: The Next Generation reference for all you Trekkers out there (but mostly for himself). Ryan then proves he doesn't know shit about geography and then makes a bad Cally-esque racist joke about Nigeria. Sorry Nigeria!
Cally then reviews some stuff he's been reading and talks about his hatred for STD-giving robots in his new segment "Cally's Science Segment!" (this will probably be the first and last of this segment). Mark then reviews the new Rawhide Kid mini-series and the gang have a little discussion about gays in comics.

Issue 71 - Harlem Taint Treaders!
2010/09/30
Cally is back!!!! After completely infecting the internet, and alienating some great creators forever, Cally is back with gang dishing the dirt about comics and insulting minority groups. We talk about Wildstorm closing (apparently because DC has to move to California, according to the aforementioned Cally), Captain America photos - now with Capri pants! - a Twitter mixup with us and Jeff Parker, Gabriel Hardman giving us free AWESOME sketches (oh yeah!!!), our old alumni Jake Black, how awesome Batman: Brave and the Bold is, DC animated movies, and - what's this?! - a very brief discussion about someone from the world of SPORTS!?!?!?!?! (We promise this will never happen again)
Cally and Spence throw "insolent twat" at each other, we talk about another comic podcast that gave us a kind review, Mark physically can't admit his love of fantasy, and we have the return of two beloved segments - Cold Storage and Spence's Sack! Plus, stay tuned for a great interview with an up-and-coming comic book writer and artist - and friend of the show - at the end of this episode!

Issue 70 - The Return Of Francis Manapul!!!
2010/09/21
What's this?!?! Artist extraordinaire and TV co-host Franics Manapul actually agreed to be on our show again?!?!? Indeed!
Taking time out of his crazy schedule, Francis is kind enough to grace The Basement once again. We get to talk to him about his comic work (of course) as well as his exciting new job co-hosting the exciting new SyFy network show "Beast Legends"! Juggling his work on The Flash and traveling around the world researching mythological (or are they?!?!) beasts has been exhausting, and Francis gives us the lowdown on how he managed that, how he got the TV gig, his beast sketches, doing scary/crazy stuff in the name of entertainment, fighting his co-host scientists for more awesomeness, and much much more!
Mr. Manapul is one of the nicest dudes we've had the pleasure to talk to, and it means a lot to us to have him on the show again. He's insanely talented, extremely nice, and has great hair. Please make sure to watch "Beast Legends" on the SyFy channel!

Thank you again, Francis Manapul! (and Ryan apologizes for his "Manapul-ly" joke!)
After the interview Jim, Spence and Ryan power-trio it out (Blue Cheer-style) and talk about all sorts of stuff! Lady Gaga and Lady Justin Beiber get pissed at Bluewater Comics, Ziggy Marley does a "Marijuanaman" comics (Jim is stoked), our pals at Accent UK go Brazilian, and more Banimon craziness! Plus, the gang talks about the recent hubbub about Alan Moore calling out other comic book writers. All this plus reviews!
Thanks for joining us again!

Issue 69 - Stuart Paul Interview!!!
2010/09/15
Wildstorm just put a cool and pretty interesting book called "Ides Of Blood". In the year 44 B.C., Caesar and his armies had conquered Transylvania and made vampires their slaves. Now, there seems to be an uprising amongst that slave class, as rich Romans are turning up dead! A vampire soldier has to investigate his own subjected people as he tries to find the killer.
In this interview, we talk with the creator and writer Stuart Paul! Stuart discusses his work in comics, his genesis for the idea that became "Ides Of Blood", screenwriting vs. comic writing, and much more!
Check out "Ides Of Blood" at your local comic book shop, and here:
http://www.dccomics.com/wildstorm/comics/?cm=15421
We thank Stuart for the chat! He was a true gentleman.

Issue 68 - J.H. Williams III Interview!!!!
2010/09/06
Holy smokes! How did we get this interview?!?!?! (We honestly have no idea...)
We can't believe our good fortune as modern master and (multiple) Eisner award winner J.H. Williams III joins us for a chat in The Basement! One of the greatest artists in the world, we talk to J.H. about his groundbreaking work in Promethea, Detective Comics, Desolation Jones, and more!
We discuss with him the awesome rumor about Hank Williams, J.H.'s break into the comic business (with some help from some fella named HOWARD CHAYKIN!), his process, choice of artistic styles for different moods/scenes, and about how DC should (hopefully) give him a little breathing room! We get the requisite Alan Moore question out of the way, and also talk about his upcoming work on Batwoman (in which he will be co-writer as well).
You've all seen his work on Detective Comics, so you now how incredible it is. So go buy Batwoman: Elegy , the hardcover collection of the Detective Comics run. The colors, the art - the presentation - is so much more incredible in this collection than it was when it was published. Can you fathom such a thing!?! It's true. Check it out.
We can't thank J.H. enough. We had some technical difficulties (imagine that), and we had to call him back and reschedule the interview for another time, and J.H. was cool as a cucumber about the whole thing. He didn't have to be, and we really appreciate it. What a pro, and what a talent. Thank you, J.H.!
And sorry folks, no regular episode after that! You'll have to tune in next time for our idiocy.

Issue 67 - Creepy Camping Spooktacular - The Sequel !
2010/08/26
Once again, the TPB gang is forced to leave the basement! Squinting at the sunlight, screaming in fear at flies and bugs, vainly trying to keep a fire going - it's back to the great outdoors! In our second annual camping episode we - minus the sadly absent Cally - broadcast from next to the fire as we talk about HORROR comics! As if being outdoors talking about scary stuff wasn't spooky enough, it was Friday the 13th when we recorded! We were even by a large-ish body of water - not quite Crystal Lake, but it was enough for us. (And mutant creatures were even reported to be in there by Spence's wife! Yiiiiiiikes!)
Once again Ryan waxes nostalgic for old comics, Spence provides fine historical background info, and Jim loves X-Files/ 30 Days Of Night! We talk about all the horror out there for you, the discerning reader/listener. Whatever kind of horror you are into, we talk about it!
Thanks for our fine pals at Darkhorse, we were able to review two new awesome titles - B.P.R.D. : Hell On Earth - New World #1 and Buzzard #3. (Cally, you missed out!) After that, Ryan (with some help from Spence) does a very rushed Cold Storage - with a few new intros! Then, something awful happens. It is a true horror story. Listen to see if the boys make it out alive.
We had a wonderful time, despite being outdoors. Sadly, we didn't get yelled at by Santa Claus this year, and there was no "Boner Anus" like last time - but we did at least have an offensive hot dog/marshmallow roaster! We hope you enjoy it, cuz we ain't leaving the house till next year!

Issue 66 - Martin Flink Interview!
2010/08/09
Wonderful writer/artist/gentleman Martin Flink drops by the basement for a quiet chat in this episode! (Good thing our basement is so close to Denmark....) We talked/gushed about Martin's new book "The Man Of Glass" - from our wonderful pals at Accent UK - a few issues back, and the gushing continues as we talk to Martin about "Man Of Glass" as well as his past work including Utopia, The Troll and much more! We also get soft and sentimental as we discuss children and how they affect you, and how this plays into "Man Of Glass". We are then treated to a small description of Martin's upcoming work "Lizard", which promises to be awesome.
We've said it before, and we'll say it again: Do yourself a favor and go to your local comic shop and demand that they order "The Man Of Glass". It's a simple story, but it is beautiful, heart-breaking, and it will haunt you - not in a bad, creepy way, but in a way soul-searching kind of way. You won't regret it.
Thanks Martin! We appreciate it!
After the interview, Cally, Ryan, and Spence power-trio it out, old-school style. First of all we talk about comic news...... depressing comic news. More Bendis rage from Ryan (Ryan, shut up already!), Red Hulk, Kevin Smith hate, Thunderstrike returns and more! The news picks up with some goodness about our pal/TPB alumni Francis Manapul! Hooray!
After that, we get a Comic-Con recap from Spence, our man-on-the-scene! He talks costumes, being crop-dusted by fat nerds, the Boom party, our boy Dan Fraga, and our other boy Brian Churilla! (Give him $5, you stupid nerds!) Spence met tons of folks, and then talks about a few! Ryan does a Cold Storage review of Oni Press's great book "Love Buzz" because he's a big fat softie, and then Spence does Nate's Corner! What the?!?!?!?! It's true! (Somebody has to do it.....) Luckily, the Nate's Corner segment gives us a chance to gush about Joelle Jones, which you know we love to do.
We hope you enjoy!

Issue 65 - Hello Korea!!
2010/07/27
It's back to basics, basementators! No fancy, wonderful or insightful interviews this time - just our regular douchebaggery, tomfoolery, and jackassery! Enjoy!
Ryan starts things off with some apologies - always a good time! Then we talk about our loyal Korean fans (email us!), our iPhone app, get more Bendis bashing from Ryan, and then get down to some news: including Harvey Pekar (R.I.P.), Mark Waid hatin' on super-hero comics, and Hastings finally getting comic books - after about 20 years of having them already.....
The gang also gets into an interesting discussion about writers who just want to make "their mark" on the character instead of just serving the character and writing a good story - for crying out loud, stop it!
After our regular reviews, we are treated to a review by Spence of the gorgeous "Blacksad", and then he does a Cold Storage review that doesn't have any
rhyming?!?! What the? (You'll see what I'm talking about)
Thanks for joining us again! We really do appreciate it.

Issue 64 - John Siuntres Interview!!!
2010/07/08
John Siuntres is a legend. Godfather of comic podcasting, amazing interviewer - John is The Man . We are extremely proud to present to you our interview with Mr. Siuntres. In this great discussion, we get to talk to John about his radio days, sports, podcasting in general, Al Williamson, and a variety of other topics.
We usually are quite verbose in our descriptions of our interviews (look at any past interview on our site to see) - but we're just kind of speechless about this interview. Just listen to it for yourself and see why.
John has been an inspiration to us all since day one. He is truly the best in this business. Like Spence mentioned to us, it was like having our iPods talk back to us after all these years...it was really quite amazing.
It was a great honor to talk to John. He's the absolute best at what he does - and what he does is kick ass. Thank you so much, John.

After the wonderful interview, we try to keep the awesome ball rolling..... and fail miserably, of course. We talk about movies, some comics news including the Green Hornet, surprising comic sales numbers and The Phantom for Dynamite, and the Jonah Hex movie.
Spence single-handedly saves this portion of the show with an amazing review of the amazing Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli, Ryan does the Indie 500 segment about the good folks at Corrosive Comics, and then we move onto reviews!
We hope you enjoyed yourselves! We sure did.

Phil Hester is a REAAAAAAALLY busy guy. (Don't believe us? Check this out: http://www.comicbookdb.com/creator.php?ID=1614 ) That's why it was so awesome that he would take a few minutes and talk to us! The Eisner-nominated Mr. Hester is a very very talented man - he's not only a helluva writer but a tremendous artist as well! We chat with him about The Anchor (with our pal Churilla), Black Terror, his run on The Darkness, Gen13, Swamp Thing, Firebreather, his relationship with Kevin Smith, being a writer vs. being an artist, Green Arrow AND Green Hornet, and much more.
We get some info on his upcoming work, his dream job, Cartoon Network, and him dissing Cally with the most awesome book dedication EVER. As you will hear, Phil is an extremely nice guy and he loves his comics. Like we mentioned, he's an extremely busy and prolific guy - so do yourself a favor and go pick up some of his stuff! He rules.

After the wonderful interview, it all goes down the tubes - as usual. We talk about the new Blue Beetle live-action show, Al Williamson (R.I.P.), behind the scenes of the Thor movie, the Walking Dead tv show, the new Spider-Man video game, and more news. Best of all....... Spence impressions! Hooray! Then Spence talks about Batman #700, and him and Cally go back-and-forth with Mike Mignola love/hate. (Well, pretty much all love and some anger about his career decisions - that's a more accurate description, I guess)

Issue 62 - Fiona Staples Interview!!
2010/06/28
We are delighted to present to you our wonderful interview with the amazingly-talented Eisner-nominated artist extraordinaire, Fiona Staples! If you listened to our podcast at all during 2009 you heard us gushing about her beautiful art in Wildstorm's "North 40", and we get to talk to her about upcoming projects, artistic process, favorite drinks, influences, the delightful Aaron Williams, DV8, The Mystery Society, Northlanders, and much much more! Check it out!
We're all big fans of Fiona, and it was really cool to be able to talk to her. Even cooler, this is the second time we've talked to her! (The first one was lost due to technical issues. Woe is us.) We really appreciate her forgiving us and letting us do another interview. Please check out her amazing work at:

Issue 61 - Rick Remender Interview!!!
2010/06/13
Seriously?!?!?! Seriously.
We are extremely proud to present to you our interview with the one-and-only Rick Remender ! Holy smokes! Rick is an awesome writer (and artist!), and you know from his work on Fear Agent , The Last Days Of American Crime, Doctor Voodoo, The End League , The Punisher , and much much more! In one of our funniest interviews ever, Rick lays it down about his history with comics, an in-depth discussion about Fear Agent, his love of sci-fi, his work in the video game field, the straight edge movement, Gigantic, making the Punisher play with the rest of the Marvel U, some of his stuff being optioned for movies, and a hell of a lot more.
Not to "toot his dick" too much, but Rick was super-cool dude, and we really really appreciated the chance to talk to him. Cally has been harassing him for a long time, so we're very glad that he finally caved in. Check Rick out at:

We are very excited to present to you, dear listener, our interview with the wonderful Tom Fowler! If you will recall, a few episodes back we gushed about the zaniness and insanity of the awesome Mysterius The Unfathomable , put out by our friends at Wildstorm. Not only did Mr. Fowler magically illustrate the awesome madness in that book, but he's done lots of great work with Mad Magazine, Green Arrow, Batman, and much more! (We also get the lowdown on two characters that we will hopefully see in further installments of Mysterius - Baby Ponce De Leon and the CBGB's Troll! ) Tom also fills us in on some major influences, Geoffry Rush, and Spence gets some tasty information about his art style and tools of the trade!

We all then share our fondest memories of ECCC, which include the Accent UK fellas, Ed Brubaker, Erin Gray (rawr!), Spence drawing, Aaron Douglas from BSG!!! (who Ryan probably accidentally insulted), the Rat City Roller Girls, our man Brian Churilla, and many many more.
On top of all this, you even get a Spence's Sack segment! Wow. (We need to start charging for this podcast!)
Man, we all need naps after this. We hope you enjoy!
Issue 53 - Hobo Ghost Attack!
2010/03/23
Hey there! How you doing? Good, glad to hear it. Thanks for joining us again!
Witness with your ears as you hear the TPB gang spin wondrous tales of ..... reporting comic news! There is some talk about the upcoming Captain America movie - as well as a rumor of Thor in Iron Man 2?!?! Also, poor Peter Parker gets fired from the Daily Bugle (or is it Daily Planet? We can't seem to recall...)
Mark does a Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths dvd review, and then Jim and Ryan do a review of Mysterius The Unfathomable, from the kind folks at Wildstorm. Spence shows his softer side in an I Kill Giants review, and then it's on to more reviews, including a Cold Storage review! Holy crap, we all read lots of stuff!
Also, pay close attention - you may be able to experience an EVP phenomenon as we are attacked by some sort of hobo ghost! Exciting times in our TPB studio.

Issue 52 – Countdown To Our Final Crisis
2010/03/22
Welcome back to fabulous episode 52! This episode starts off with a whimper as podcast stenographer and historian Ryan makes a bush-league and unprofessional move! D’oh! Then be awed as Cally admits that Stuff Of Legend is indeed awesome! THIS IS THE TRUTH!
The gang beams with pride as someone from our town – a TPB fan, no doubt – makes headline news. Then join us for more comics fun as a pastor kills someone, Beanworld invades Myspace, and two comics sell for TONS of sweet, sweet $$$. We also discuss the big company shakeups over at DC, Cally talks some of his comics he’s been reading (B.P.R.D.), Spence does also (Hulk), and then we talk about our upcoming jaunt to Emerald City Comic Con. Look out Seattle nerds, your overlords are coming your way!
After our review segment – in which Cally rules on us, AGAIN – we move onto Cold Storage which leads into Spence’s Sack which leads into an interesting discussion about social responsibility in comics! What?!?!? Yes, you read that right. For reals.

Issue 51 – Nektarios Chrissos and George Martzoukos Interview!
2010/03/05
Welcome back everybody! Oh boy, are you in for a treat! We start things off with a bang with a racist Asian joke, and then things get worse from there.
The gang talks about the Planet Hulk dvd and then some more Marvel news when we discuss the upcoming Heroic Age. Please note how excited and stoked Ryan is for this…… this is the exact moment someone needs to point out to him in the future when he is completely underwhelmed and disappointed in that event.
What’s this?!?!?! Yes folks, it’s a Luke McBain/Trace Adkins review! Sean Phillips – artist extraordinaire – is lovingly discussed, and then…….it happens. Horrible domestic abuse….. on our show! Spence FINALLY lashes out at Cally!
After the cops leave, we have the opportunity to talk to Nektarios Chrissos and George Martzoukos! These great gentlemen are all the way from Greece and have just published the very interesting comic APOSPEROS: MERCHANT OF SOULS, from Visionary Comics! Aposperos is a Soul-Merchant, when someone sells their soul to the Devil, Aposperos collects the debt. But when he is confronted by a selfless sacrifice, his conscience awakens and sets him on a journey that will turn him against his old masters and reveal the horrible truth behind the soul-trade. A sophisticated thriller with secret societies, mysteries and intrigue! Listen as they describe their process and how this fine book came to fruition.
We talk to them about the comic, the European comic market vs. the American one, their influences, their artistic process, their accents, and much more!
Nektarios and George were extremely kind and gracious, and they were great to talk to. Please check out their book at

Issue 50 - TPB's Greatest Hits
2010/03/05
It is our birthday, but we are giving out the gifts. Here, packaged in this nice little mp3 file are truckloads of entertainment. We have put together a sampling of our funniest, most embarrassing and quite frankly, most offensive moments since the beginning of the show. We hope you enjoy it! We had a ton of fun doing it! It has been a great 50 Issues, and if we continue to have something to say...here's to 50 more! Thanks for sticking with us!
In this episode....
No interviews
No News
No Reviews
Lots of idiocracy
Issue 49 - Well, maybe more like 48 and a half....
2010/02/22
In what might be the shortest episode in our history (due to the majority of the episode being lost due to technical difficulties), the gang gets together to review one of comicdom's most respected and highly sought after books. Before that, we talk about Daniel Johnston, peeing superheroes, and Gumby (R.I.P.) Cally subjects us to a horrible 2Pac impression, and then we get down to business with some Nemesis talk. There is also some Green Lantern chat, and then some more glowing love for Hunter and Darwyn Cooke - with a little slander about Ryan thrown in as well! Some comics are hated upon, and then glowing praise is lavished upon Sloth #4 in our review segment! There's a little talk about Invincible, and then more cool discussion about some of the incredible work of our pals Dave West and Brian Churilla. Enjoy please! Review for this week: Sloth #4
Issue 48 - Deering This Episode…
2010/01/27
… the gang goes almost racist as we talk about movie casting and fast food! We also move onto other non-racist news topics like Spider-Man, the Walking Dead tv show, Deadpool/Blackest Night stuff, and 2009 top publishers. Will we be on the list for 2010? I guess you’ll have to wait and see!
Spence and Ryan also talk about the Blackest Night Weird Western Tales tie-in, and have a slight disagreement. One thing that everybody agreed on are the reviews! Love is all around as we talk about two new titles. (Plus, we all love the $1 for #1 issues thing that Vertigo is doing, and you guys, of course!) We also discuss all the people we’re going to bully and sleep with at Emerald Con in March. Good times!
There’s no Cold Storage or Spence’s Sack as the gang is too damn busy! Making a comic is tough business, you guys!

Welcome to our Christmas-sode! This week we discuss our Christmas
wish-lists and partake in some holiday cheer. This week only four of our crew
are here to join in the festivities. You’ll have to listen to find out who is
missing…I’ll give you a hint though, He was kicked off the podcast last episode
for bad behavior. (You didn’t think we
were serious did you ?)
Join us as Cally offends every religion in the world! But
wait, there’s more! Cally also goes off on the homeless!! It’s just what you
have come to expect from Tales from the Parents Basement, and then some.
Then it’s business as usual. We announce a prize that will
be given away at this year’s Emerald City Comicon and we talk about some comics
news and we do our new segment, Spence’s Sack!

Issue 46 - The Eggs-it of Ryan!
2010/01/04
Sorry for the tardiness of this episode everybody! Holidays and all that.
Speaking of holidays, the gang talks about our 8th Annual Christmas party and all the great fun that we had. You missed out! (Maybe you'll be invited next time...)
Jim lavishes love on Brian Churilla's The Engineer, we talk Image United, and things go crazy as Spence (not Ryan) does a controversial Disappointment of the Week! Ryan talks about some Conan trivia, and then demands an apology from Spence about Lone Wolf and Cub - right before being fired forever for expressing a very unpopular opinion during the review segment! Will he ever be welcomed back? Stay tuned!
All this plus mini-review of 12 Reasons Why I Love Her, a Cold Storage by Cally, and a Lukewarm Storage by Jim!

Issue 45 - Dave West Interview!!
2009/12/10
Dave West is an amazing writer, artist, and co-founder of the comic
company Accent UK! He's also wrote our favorite comic of the year -
Whatever Happened to the World's Fastest Man! And besides all that, he
is our show's BFF. Dave has been nothing but kind and gracious to us
since day one, and so we are extremely delighted to be able to
interview him!
We talk about how Dave got involved in comics and started Accent UK,
Eleanor Rigby, wives that don't like comics, our anthology that we're
working on (that Dave is really helping us out with), his art, comic
availability in the UK, conventions, and more! We also reveal how Dave
has been helping us on our comic!!!
We love Dave, and we TRIED not to kiss his ass too much during this
interview. But honestly - the guy is extremely talented and bloody
brilliant.
Keep track of him here!
http://www.accentukcomics.com/
Dave rules, and we'll never be able to pay him back for all his
kindness. How can YOU help him? Please go to your local comic book
store and ask them to order "Whatever Happened To The World's Fastest
Man?" WE GUARANTEE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
After the interview, we are joined by uber-relgious Mark, and we all
talk about the Boom Studios vs. Diamond distribution controversy, and
then share our Top 3.... which turns us into simpering softies and
makes us talk about comics that made us cry. Then things get dark, as
Spence talks about abusive fathers, and we all talk about "prison
prom", Beantown, and Spence and Ryan argue about the art in Lone Wolf
And Cub! Dark times... but then we get treats! Spence's cool wife Heidi
and awesome daughter brought us delicious deserts! Hooray!
All this great stuff, plus a Spence's Sack and a Cold Storage review!
We hope you enjoy this issue as much as we enjoyed the good eats.

Issue 44 - Brian Churilla Interview!!
2009/12/01
Check this out: Brian Churilla - hot off the success of his awesome book The Anchor - drops by The Basement for an interview! Sweet! The Anchor is one of our favorite new books, but Brian has done outstanding work in many other comics including We Kill Monsters, The Engineer, and more! We talk to Brian about his books, and also about his start in comics, loving Phil Hester, monsters, the mystery of D.B. Cooper, and of course talk about some sweet sweet metal! (much to the chagrin of Spence)
Brian was super-duper cool, and we were very pleased that we got to talk to him! Thanks, Brian!
Brian rules hard, and you can check out his work here:
http://www.brianchurilla.com/
After the interview, the gang attempts to undo the negativity we put out in the last episode by naming our favorite creators who are both writers and artists! It's all rainbows and sunshine... until Ryan starts talking about the newest Conan issue. What the?!?! Insanity reigns as the new FrankenCastle story is discussed, and nostalgia is evoked in the new segment Spence's Sack! (Please note: this segment may be renamed in the future to make it sound dirtier)

Issue 43 - That's not my dog, that's my dad!
2009/11/25
Even though it's the holiday season, goodwill towards all men DOESN'T exist here at The Basement as the gang dishes out the negativity!
Fun abounds as Jim is given a doctorate and transformed into Doc Zane...right before he's fired by Cally. We also discuss Cally's amazing life and fame (including appearances on 20/20 and Maury Povich) - and then he drives home the point of why he's still un-famous these days as he tells the worst joke ever. We also have a discussion on real events and pop-culture in comics - which allows Ryan to dish out more hate for The Ultimates.
Then things get awesome! Join us for the most hotly-debated Top 3 list ever! Why is it hotly-debated? Because we didn't know which one we were doing! After the confusion is cleared, the hatred and negativity flows like a river of bile.
All this plus reviews (which bring some love into the proceedings) and Joey impressions!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Issue 42 - Royal McGraw Interview!!!
2009/11/17
No, seriously! For reals!
For 25 episodes, we have been making fun of this wonderful man's name (due to a review of his work in Issue 17), but Royal was kind enough to forgive us and let us interview him! Fresh off his recently published work in Batman Confidential #36, we talk to Mr. McGraw about his past Batman work, his award winning (literally) screenplays, his work in the video game business, his graphic design background, and his appearance in a R.E.M. video! We also get the lowdown on his upcoming projects, and in a Karmic beatdown for making fun of his name for so long, the gang at TPB Inc. is taken to school by Royal as our trivia of DC characters (and credibility in general) is flushed down the toilet! D'oh! (We'll study and be better next time, Royal - we promise!)
Royal is a great writer, and a hell of a nice guy! Thank you so much, sir!
Deeply shamed by our lack of knowledge, the gang bravely tries to carry on after the interview. We talk about some comic news, including making fun of Joss Whedon and talking about the 5 creepiest sex scenes in comics!
We discuss another Top 3 list, review some comics (with everyone vs. Spence on one of them), and a Cold Storage review where Ryan comes across as more of a pervert than usual. Great stuff!

Issue 41 - Ginger Balls
2009/11/10
Join Mark, Spence, Nate and Ryan as they bravely trudge onwards without their comrades-in-arms Cally and Jim. Want some news? You got it! The gang talks about the Scream Awards, and then has a discussion about how pop culture in general views comics, and how that may be different from the "insiders" and old comic pros.... like us.
And hey, look at this! Another top 3 list rears its head, and Ryan makes a really offensive joke to fill in for the absent Cally. We also discuss WatchMAN, ginger balls, and we make the phrase "Mexican Halloween" join the double entendre ranks with the now legendary "Royal McGraw"! Good times = ACCOMPLISHED.

Hey there, folks! Lend us your ears as we gather in The Basement and tell tall tales of glory... and comics!
Gasp as we talk about some news! Be amazed as Spence gives us a review of the book The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and Cally gives us a review of the extremely popular and best-selling Joker OGN! Marvel as Ryan completely ignores everything that Cally says! Guffaw as Jim and Ryan review Anchor from Boom! Studios and Path from Com.X comics! Laugh and cry as the gang reviews North 40 #4! Be brainwashed as Nate reviews Batman: The Cult in his very own corner - Nate's Corner! Go down memory lane with Spence as he takes on Cold Storage!

Issue 39 - Aaron Williams Interview!
2009/10/30
Join us as we interview the wonderful Aaron Williams, writer of one of
this podcast's favorite comics - North 40 for Wildstorm comics! The
extremely humorous and affable Aaron Williams got his start making
comics for fantasy and RPG magazines, and from there his work has grown
to include the comical tribulations of Nodwick, the fun superhero
school of PS238, and much more! We get the lowdown from Aaron about the
awesome Superman story he'd like to write, and even a little
information about his future project with Wildstorm! Embarrassing fan
encounters at conventions, mocking movies, corpse-eating robots, duct
tape....... this interview has it all!
Aaron is a delightful gentleman, and you can follow him here:
www.nodwick.com
Pick up North 40 and Aaron's other stuff - it rules! Thanks, Aaron!
After
the great Mr. Williams interview, things unfortunately go straight to
hell as Mark, Cally and Ryan are joined by Spence and Nate who were
just - in their own words - "BF'ing" each other. Cally talks about his
bleeding nipples, and even tries to talk with a French accent, which
leads to Cally and Spence having a contest to see who can do the worst impressions of all time . Who's the winner, you ask? Certainly not you, the listener!
But we also talk about some comic news, RIBE Liefeld, Hellboy,
Ryan's "Disappointment of the Week!", more of Cally ranting about The
Watchmen and douches, and many other things. We even get around to
reviewing comics! Spence review's Darwyn Cooke's Parker, Cally takes on
the House of Mystery Halloween special, and Ryan does a Cold Storage
review.

Cold Storage Review: The Mighty Avengers, issues #1 - 6
Musical Selection: Carl Sagan - Glorious Dawn
Issue 38 - Mike Allred Interview!
2009/10/20
In
this very special episode, we are joined by none other than Mike "Doc"
Allred, artist and writer extraordinaire. You know Mike (and his
wonderful wife Laura, who beautifully colors most of his work) through
his ground-breaking work on Madman, X-Force and X-Static, Red Rocket 7,
The Golden Plates, Metamorpho (with Neil Gaiman, for DC's Wednesday's
Comics) and much more! Mike is a distinctive and original voice in
comics, and he has not only enjoyed great success in indie/creator
owned comics, but major company success as well!
Mike is kind enough to share with us his beginnings in the comics
field and how the death of Gwen Stacy, and discovering rock and roll
and chicks, almost turned him off comics forever! Fortunately for us,
Mike was again exposed to comics later on and rediscovered his love for
them! Mike also shares how rock and roll exists in comics, and how the
two are completely intertwined for him.
Cally shares an embarrassing encounter he had with Mike at a comic
convention, plus we get the lowdown on some of his equipment, how he
thinks it's awesome to work with his wife, and Mike talks about his
personal project of the Book Of Mormon comic adaptation The Golden
Plates. All this, plus a major ass-kissing by Cally! Good stuff.
You can check out Mike and Laura at
http://www.aaapop.com/main.php
and
http://comicbookdb.com/creator.php?ID=708
Thank you so much Mike! It was a great pleasure and honor to talk
to you - and you made Cally's life 100,000,000,000 times better!
After the interview, we are joined by Jim/BZ4L (who gives us a Cold Storage review) and - holy cow! - we talk about some comic news!!! Everybody talks about the comics they've been reading, plus the long-awaited return of SPENCE VS. CALLY!!!!
Don't bother listening to this episode with socks on, because they'll just get knocked off anyways!

Issue 37 - Cally is RIGHT!
2009/10/13
What the
what?!?!?! In an informational beat-down worthy of Albert Einstein or
Alex Trebek, Cally proves us all wrong with his knowledge that they are
INDEED making a Trace Adkins comic book! Who's Trace Adkins, you say?
You don't need to know. But Cally DOES know, and he also knows that
Trace wants them to "make his pubic hair bushier"!
Besides that, the Basement gang chats about public domain rights,
Spider-Man rape, an awesome Two-Face Harley (of a crappy version of
Two-Face, unfortunately) and the ultimate fate of Sodam Yat. Who the
heck is Dial H For Hero? Do him and this Trace Adkins person hang out
or something? Listen to our reviews and find out!

Issue 36 - Learning is for Chumps!
2009/10/08
Hey everybody! In the words of Spence - Come this way to comic book fun!
There's
a whole lot of news going on, and we actually talk about some - after
Cally talks about Kenny G vs. Warren G. Join us as we talk about DC
Comics becoming DC Entertainment (big whoop), Wonder Woman postcards,
Wonder Woman love/hate with Ben Caldwell, Walking Dead on AMC, and more!
The Top 3 list makes a half-assed return, we manage to make fun of
bisexuals (so add them to our list of people we've offended), and we
coin yet another gross sexual phrase - all hail FELLATIO FISH! Plus, we
have a Nate's Corner review of Supermarket (the IDW book by Brian
Wood), a slightly disturbing and sexy Cold Storage review by Spence, and the first official (the other was
unrecorded) appearance of the phrase "Boner-Anus!"

Issue 35 - Norm Breyfogle Interview!
2009/09/21
In this special episode we're delighted to bring you an interview with
a hero of ours, Norm Breyfogle! Norm is probably best known for his
groundbreaking and influential run on Detective Comics and Batman (from
the late 80's to early 90's), and helped create such iconic characters
as The Ventriloquist / Scarface, Anarky, and Victor Zsasz. But Norm has
had a long and interesting career, and we at The Basement were very
excited to hear about what he has been up to lately. From a fallout
with DC Comics, to technical manuals, work with Malibu comics, his new
work with Archie Comics, and becoming a writer, Norm was gracious and
open enough to discuss everything we threw at him.
You can keep up with Mr. Breyfogle at:
http://www.normbreyfogle.com/
And check out his impressive comic resume here:
http://www.comicbookdb.com/creator.php?ID=739
It was a true pleasure to talk to one of our favorite creators!
After
the interview, things unfortunately return to normal with the Basement
gang. Adorned in Black Lantern rings that Cally lovingly gave us, we of
course talk about the huge news (that's right - a News segment again!)
of Disney buying Marvel, what this could mean for both companies (and
BOOM studios), and the pros and cons involved. Ryan goes off his meds
for a few minutes for a rant about advertising, but is thankfully
tranquilized by one of the stunned onlookers. (Don't worry folks - Ryan
was later released back into his natural habitat)
As if that wasn't enough, our special guest Kenneth - aka The
Comics Dilettante - does a review of the new comic "Kill Audio", plus
we have more jokes about handicap abuse, a talk about the new "Batman:
Arkham Asylum" game, and a fun Top 3 List!

Issue 34 - TPB Unplugged
2009/09/10
Hey!
How's it going?
Want to hang out with Spence,
Mark, Jim and Ryan? Pull up chair, make yourself a drink, kick those
shoes off and put your feel up (you've had a hard day) and join the
boys as we just hang out in this very informal episode.
Witness Spence's and Jim's more sensitive and fatherly
sides as they discuss children's cartoons and comics. We all chip in
about superhero movies, whether good or bad! (mostly bad - but we still
love them) And then - what's this?!?!?! - we even talk a little bit
about comic news!!!! Holy crap! And then - oh my goodness, what's
this?!?!?!?! - it's the return of the TOP 3 LIST!!! Your life is once
again worthwhile as we bring back our long-dormant Top 3 List section.
This time we talk about our favorite artists and writers, so snuggle in and
prepared to be bored as we - mostly Ryan - talk way too long. But it's
informative!!! (Next issue's Top 3 will be rad, though)
Thanks for joining us!

Issue 33 - Francis Manapul Interview!
2009/08/26
Please join us in this special episode as we interview the up-and-coming artist Francis Manapul! Fresh off of his successful new DC Comics release of Adventure Comics #1 with Geoff Johns, the delightful Francis is gracious enough to talk to us about how he got his start in the comics business, his work on Superman/Batman, The Necromancer, prank hidden genitals from coworkers, future aspirations, bad-ass covers to Red Robin, Toronto baseball, the beloved Dan Fraga, and much more!
You can check out Francis Manapul's work here:
http://www.francismanapul.com/
http://manapul.deviantart.com/
http://manapul.blogspot.com/
Go to the comic book store and buy some of his stuff! You won't be disappointed.
Unfortunately, after the wonderful interview with Mr. Manapul, things go south rather quickly as we at Tales From The Parents Basement hit a new low. After hearing Cally's awesome stories about fighting people, things degenerate into slander of a wonderful dead performer, as well as how we would attack or beat crippled people more efficiently than the thugs in Batgirl #1.
May God have mercy on our souls.
Plus, a Nate's Corner review of The Other Side, and Spence's feelings get hurt again - but this time, by Ryan, not Cally! Hooray for hurt feelings!

2009/08/26
In this terrific and amazing episode, the gang talks about the horrible new G.I. Joe movie, blinking nipples, and a whole bunch of comics! We review two awesome comics this week that are both premiering (Adventure Comics #1 and Marvels Project #1) - should you run out and buy them? Listen and find out!
All this plus the wonderful Nate from Nate's Corner does a review of that one guy from My Chemical Romance's comic Umbrella Academy, and Spence does a Cold Storage review of an old Marvel western, The Rawhide Kid!
Plus, another call from fan-favorite and Image Comic BFF Joey!!!!
All this wonderful enjoyment........ and it's still FREE!!! How do we do it?

Issue 31 - Interview with Dan Fraga
2009/08/08
We are delighted to present to you our interview with the one-and-only Dan The Man, Mr. Fragga-Boom himself, Dan Fraga! Dan is the best sport in the world, and was kind enough to email us after our bashing (but mostly Spence's bashing- haha) of one of his books in a past episode. We were truly delighted to chat with him, as he shared awesome stories of his start in the comics business, his artistic influences, and what lying and thieving bastards (our words, not his) certain fellow comic book people can be! Dan's career has taken him into many exciting new areas of entertainment, including music, music videos, and movies. But Dan also informs us that he is returning to comics soon, and gives us some details about his upcoming projects: 45, Switch, and The Grave!
But there's more! Dan himself does the Cold Storage review! Pulling an old favorite from his comic vaults, Dan makes us all jealous (and then run to Ebay to buy it for ourselves) with his review of the amazingly-drawn (and influential) Doctor Strange #55.
Seriously - from the bottom of our hearts, we mean this - Dan couldn't have been any nicer. He was an amazing sport about everything, and we think he's one of the coolest mothertruckers around. Thanks a lot, Dan!
After our interview, we get a special Comic Con report from our Convention Correspondent, Spence - who generously brought us all gifts! We all loved them very much..... except Mark, who didn't get anything. Plus Cally tells more lame jokes, Ryan gets all PMS-ey about his comics this week, Jim and Spence talk about the new Green Lantern animated movie, and Accent UK gets more love. Join us for these treats, plus our normal reviews! Wonderful!

Issue 30 - The Abspence
2009/08/08
Our co-founder and CEO Spence was on assignment this week, spending quality time with his family...... and then ditching them to go to Comic Con for a day! (We'll get his full report next time - so as our brother Snoop would say "so just chill, till the next episode!")
Free from the imposing masterful shadow normally cast by Spencer, Mark and Nate talk more than they ever have! With Cally and Ryan there as well, the gang valiantly attempts to record the best podcast ever. (Did they succeed? YOU be the judge!) Lots of penis jokes from Cally, more gushing of love for our pals at Accent UK from Ryan - and later from Nate, but with a more even-handed review during Nate's Corner of their new anthology "Western" - and one of the best, most heart-warming (and incredibly stupid) Cold Storage Reviews ever! Love of Eric Powell abound, Marvel once again confounds and displeases Ryan, and the merits of Major vs. Indie comic companies are once again debated. Who'll win? Tune in and find out!

Issue 29 - CREEPY Camping Spooktacular!
2009/07/29
In this very special episode, we all left our parents basements to go somewhere we've never been.......... OUTDOORS! We all joined together (except the sadly absent Jim) and decided to go camping. To make it even more scary, we decided to sit around the campfire and review scary comics! Join us - and many awesome special guests - as we wax nostalgic about horror comics, talk about the dark side of Geoff Johns, and roast marshmallows! Cally steps up his quest to be offensive to everyone with his most racist joke ever (which may or may not be in this podcast)!
Please note: Cally's opinions and jokes in no way represent Tales From The Parents Basement, the other contributors of the show, or that of any of Tales From The Parents Basement's subsidiary companies.
We also profess our undying love for Wednesday's Comics, Accent UK, and Dan Fraga. After the podcast, as the cold mountain air enveloped us, cries of "Boner Anus!" and "10 Sack" filled the air - and eventually we were yelled at by Santa Claus. (Long story) More scary stories were told, and things were burned in a vain attempt to keep warm. As the we gradually drifted to our tents, our yelling and laughing was eventually replaced by the loud snoring of one of our special guests - who shall remain nameless. In the morning, we ate awesome pancakes made by our very own Nate! It was a tremendous evening, and we hope to do it again.

Issue 28 - An Interview with....... Us.
2009/07/09
- Sorry for the audio problems, folks! We apologize. It will get better, we promise! -
We kick it old-school in this episode - no fancy interviews with
fabulous comic creators, just us sitting around and talking comics. And
telling bad jokes. Come join us, won't you?
In this episode, we
semi-time travel back to the 90's as we talk about the newest issue of
Spawn, Ryan makes a startling declaration against one of his comic book
loves, Cally makes more awful/awesome jokes, Cally and Spence bicker,
and Cannibal Corpse is mentioned! (This makes Ryan very happy) Also,
there is a live Nate's Corner review of A History Of Violence, and an
actual Cold Storage review! Hooray! If this episode doesn't have you
yelling JUSTICE!!!! at the top of your lungs, then you have no soul
(like Cally). Enjoy!
Reviews for this week: Justice League - Cry for Justice #1 and Spawn #193
Cold Storage Review: Tales of Haunted House #16
Musical Selection: Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse
Issue 27 - Nei Ruffino Interview
2009/07/04
On this very special episode, we interview the talented colorist (and
artist) extraordinaire, Nei Ruffino! You've seen her work on many
comics, including Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Supergirl,
Superman/Batman, a whole bunch of awesome Zenescope stuff, and much
much more! We talk about her past in tattooing, her upcoming project
with horror maestros Stephen King and Peter Straub, and how colorists
are viewed from inside and outside the comic industry. Plus, we even
talk about shoes and My Little Pony for all you gals out there (and
Ryan).
Please check out her work at http://www.neiruffino.com/
Buy her stuff!
We
then do our normal reviews, a live Nate's Corner, and Cally cracks a
joke so awful it will surely damn us all to Hell. (But especially him!)
All that, plus Spence and Cally argue like an old married couple again,
and we get another call from the Comixxx Virgin!
Reviews for this week: Iron Fist #27, and Detective Comics #854
Musical Selection: Thriller by Michael Jackson (R.I.P.)
Issue 26 - Jake Black Interview
2009/06/20
We often joke about getting exclusives here on TPB, but this time we're serious - we have BREAKING NEWS that you can only find here on TPB!
On this episode we have our very first interview ever with the great
Jake Black. We talk to him about his new comic Ender's Game: Recruiting
Valentine (out now from Marvel - go pick it up!) and some of his other
work. Jake drops a news bombshell for us, telling us that...
KEVIN EASTMAN AND PETER LAIRD ARE REUNITING to design a print that will be sold to help Jake out with his medical bills!
You heard it here first, folks - this is a BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVE!!!
This is the turtle's creators' first work together in around 15 years
or so, and this is the only collaboration they will be doing to
celebrate the TMNT 25th anniversary. There will also be another poster
done by a few of the Turtles artists of the past whose proceeds also go
to help Jake!
We
also talk to Jake about his other work with the author Orson Scott
Card, including his adaptation of Wyrms, and the colossal Ender's Game
Encyclopedia (coming out in November). Jake goes into his past (and
future) work with Smallville, the aforementioned Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles, the Twilight trading cards, DC figures for Eaglemoss
(unfortunately not easily available here in the States - they're
awesome) and much more!
Jake
has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and like we
mentioned, the fine folks at Mirage Publishing will be helping Jake out
with original TMNT prints - including an original and new EASTMAN AND
LAIRD TMNT COLLABORATION! These will be available soon, and you can
help out and keep track of Jake and his current projects through his
website, which is
www.jakeblack.com
His
Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace links are all on there as well. Jake is
a great guy and very cool fellow, so please help out! We hope you enjoy
the interview - and hopefully we'll be able to see his Heroes In A Half
Cell story!!!
We then do a semi-surprising review of the new Captain America issue,
have a live Nate's Corner in which a lot of love is tossed around, and
we share our embarrassing and insulting meetings with comic creators
that we love and admire.
Enjoy!
Review for this week: Captain America #600
Musical Selection: Orson Scott Card by Bloodhag (Go to the forum to find out the lyrics!)
Issue 25 - Rockin' Robin(s)
2009/06/20
In this Batman-centric episode, the gang spends quite a bit of time
discussing the current events with the Caped Crusader, as well as the
merits of the X-Men - which gives Spence a chance to once again
proclaim his love for Gambit. Plus, Ryan gets all emo talking about the
newest Batman issue, we all talk about Resurrection (and compare it to
The Walking Dead), plus some excellent listener emails and calls! Cally
also schools us with the shortest ever Cold Storage yet!
Speaking
of calls, you won't believe who gives us a call us this week - one
comic legend calls us FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE and one comic legend (very
near the grave) does also! If these calls aren't Tales From The Parents
Basement exclusives...... well, I'd be shocked. Come be shocked as well
- download this, post-haste!!!

Issue 24 - The Real Nate's Corner
2009/06/15
In this show we record live from the 1st annual TPB-BBQ in the basement of our very own Nate of Nate's Corner fame. It was a fun time for all except for some of our own who couldn't make it. Thanks Nichole!
We are joined by a few of our fans though who add some great commentary...PLUS, we had a real live girl in studio! Needless to say, we had a hard time concentrating.

Issue 23 - Superman's Big Red Twinkie
2009/06/01
Cally is unfortunately absent from this podcast - stuck on another
crummy vacation with his family! To fill in his mighty absence we are
once again joined by the illustrious and infamous guests Jim and Nate,
and we cover for his normal perversions by lots of jokes about German
porn and other gentle-talia jokes. Join us as we also discuss the shaft
that companies have given comic creators over the years, Jim goes
scholastic on ya'lls asses with a discussion of Chinese literature and
comics form, and Nate gives a positively scathing review of "Wanted"!
Plus, we have 3 (and a half) calls from our beloved Cally, the
dapper Comic's Gentleman, and the creepiest call we've ever gotten (and
that's saying a lot, folks!) from the new and mysterious he/she Joey!
(we think it was "Joey")
All that, plus the normal news and reviews - and more free offers
than you can shake a stick at! Come on everybody, take us up on it and
get some free (and potentially tasty) swag!!!

2009/05/25
It's a full cast tonight, as the regular gang is joined by very special
(and much beloved) guests Nate and Jim/BZ4L! Join us as we proudly
review Boom! comics (thanks Boom!) as official members of the free
press! Plus a music clarification, Ryan makes some more racist and
sexist jokes, Spence disses Ethan Van Sciver again, more Liefeld jokes
are told, plus a Dan Fraga vs. Jim Lee throwdown (in the Cold Storage
review) that you won't
believe! (Let's just say that hopefully there will not be legal action
involved - fingers crossed!)
The gang disagrees on one review,
and joins together to shower praises on another. There's a live Nate's
Corner, lots of feud talk, and another amazing call from the Comixxx
Virgin/Cucaracha! (Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of
his life) Plus, mini reviews of Unwritten, JSA, The Goon, Skaar, and
more!
All that, plus dick jokes. Holy crap, what more could you possibly want from a free podcast?!?!

2009/05/21
In this very special issue, we review a national comic drawn by a
hometown artist, Tyler Kirkham! (Hey Tyler, want to come be on our
show?) Also, join the gang (plus live-and-in-studio Nate!) as we
discuss writers getting busted, comics on your phone, the finer points
of Ethan Van Sciver's illustrations, and an email we received from the
one-and-only ROYAL MCGRAW!!!!
All that, plus Mark shows us Marvel's inadvertant racism in his
Cold Storage review, and the Comixxx Virgin gets a surprising roommate!

2009/05/09
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, TPB lives again! After a couple of weeks of recording episodes that
subsequently died in audio-problems Hell, we're back with a vengeance in our LONGEST EPISODE EVER! Join the gang as
we discuss the new Trek and Wolverine movies, talk about Free Comic Book Day, T&A in comics, and have a very lengthy
discussion about indie comics. Plus, Ryan gets all wussy in front of everyone in the Top 3 list, and Spence makes an
awesome Pinocchio analogy (that Cally of course turns into a long nose/penis/career in porn joke). All that plus a Nate's
Corner and a Cold Storage review!
We hope it was worth the wait!
Reviews for this week: Human Torch Comics #1 (70th Anniversary Special) and Power Girl #1
Cold Storage Review: Superman - Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow?
Musical Selection: Billy Joel - "She's Always a Woman" (for Power Girl)
Issue 19 - The Podcast That Should Not Be!
2009/04/24
In this issue we
try to save time (by ditching our regular Top 3 Lists and Cold Storage
Reviews) because Spencer is moving again (to be surrounded by his own
kind) and needed some extra packing time..... but then we screw up that
plan by BS-ing the time away! Sorry Spence!
Please join us we review some brutal comics, Cally tells a brutal
Christopher Reeve joke, we express our love for pulp literature and
characters, and recommend AN ACTUAL BOOK over a comic! What the
what?!?!? Plus we lovingly feature News In A Minute, Nate's Corner, and
receive an amazing and insightful phone call from our pal Slim Jim/aka
BZ4L. And we even manage to drop a little Freud on y'alls asses in the
process!
Reviews for this week: Sub-Mariner Comics #1 (70th Anniversary Special) and The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft #1
Issue 18 - April's Fools
2009/04/13
In Issue 18, we find ourselves in a bit of a groundhog's day scenario. We are redoing a failed episode that sounded too bad
to publish. That's okay, because the crew brings the heat this episode.
We
talk a little phantom, Captain America and have a wonderful Nate's
Corner segment this week featuring Locke and Key, from IDW. We get some
awesome phone calls leading us to a discussion on women in comics.
X-men go dark...big surprise, but we are a little stunned about Dark Power Pack!
Reviews for this week: Flash - Rebirth #1, Irredeemable #1 and Warlord #1
Cold Storage Review: Incredible Hulk #406
Issue 17 - The Royal McGraw!
2009/03/30
We have some sound problems in this Issue
beware, but do not let that stop you from listening because it is a
great episode. we are joined again by our friend of the show, Jim who
drops some science on us. We have a legitimate Nate's corner again this
week talking about the comic, Concrete. We offer a contest for each
download we get, so listen closely for that.
We
discuss an upcoming movie, "The Phantom," and talk about Ed Brubaker
leaving Daredevil. Ryan reveals his bumbling fan experience with
Brubaker at a con. Somehow, the word gentle-talia makes it into the
show again and we have made it ours.
The
national guard has a new ad campaign to entice comic nerds to join up
and no doubt, become targets to distract the enemy while they send in
the big guys.
Reviews for this week: Captain America #48 and Battle for the Cowl: Commissioner Gordon #1
Cold Storage Review: All-Star Squadron #25
TPB Issue 16 - Cryin' for Ryan
2009/03/26
In issue 16, We kick it old school. We are without Ryan for the first time since he joined out little show. We are joined by Nate for another live segment of Nate's Corner where he reviews and discusses 'Batman: The Killing Joke'. We are blessed by Nate's laziness to pre-record his segment!
Against our better judgment, we review an X-Book and discuss muties. Do you know who the first mutant ever is? Listen to find out. Also Howie Mandel voices Nate's favorite mutant. Also, fans of our caller, 'The Comixxx Virgin,' will not be disappointed with this weeks offering.
Reviews for this week: Uncanny X-Men #507 and Ender's Game: Battle School #4 of 5
Cold Storage Review: Marvel Team-Up #102
Issue 15 – Cookies and Boobs
2009/03/13
In Issue 15 we are joined by Mark again, as well as Nate (who gives another live review, this time of BKV’s Pride of Baghdad) for a whole bunch of Watchmen discussions and assorted tomfoolery. Join us as we all really hate on one comic review and are split about the lameness/awesomeness of another. Plus, Ryan is shocked and touched deeply as Mark and Spence make a startling and astounding admission (which also threatens his very existence on the podcast).
Also, please enjoy new calls from the Comic Book Virgin (HOORAY!) as well as a threatening phone call to Cally from one of the thugs on Spence’s other inferior podcast (BOOO!), and of course reviews, Top 3 Lists, some boob talk, and etc…
Programming note: This podcast will also go down in history as the greatest podcast recording session ever because Spence’s awesome wife Heidi baked some excellent cookies for us during the recording. Boo-yah!
Reviews for this week: Battle For The Cowl #1 and Ghost Rider #33
Cold Storage Review: Howard the Duck #1
TPB Issue 14 - Bakers Dozen plus 1
2009/03/09

guests – our very own Nate from Nate’s Corner (who gives a live review
this week!), Cally’s cool little bro Alex, and fan favorite BILLY ZANE!
(4 Life, aka Slim Jim), who gives us a rundown on the state and events
of the current Green Lantern comics. Ryan and BILLY ZANE! (4 Life, aka
Slim Jim) also review the animated Hulk Vs. Wolverine and Thor dvd that
came out last month.

In Issue 12, love is in the air! Join us as we discuss
comic's best relationships and romances, our love for our local comic shop, Youngblood,
and our undying love for our reviewed comics! (The only thing that doesn't get
loved is Y - The Last Man, by Spence) Also enjoy the obligatory mentions of Rob
Liefeld, Nicolas Cage, and gay sex. Plus, News In A Minute and Nate's Corner!
This podcast is the best Valentine's Day gift you could ever possibly give your
ears.
Reviews for the week: Batman #686 and Thor #600
Cold Storage review: Young Romance #40
Issue 11 - Underage VS. Underrated!
2009/02/06
In Issue 11, the team mistakenly discusses young superheroes (long story) and the rising costs of comics, which prompts Ryan to make a tough promise..... that everyone knows he will fail at. Rob Liefeld is also mocked, Nicolas Cage is not (what the?!?!), and "gentle-talia" are mentioned. We also introduce our new "Top 3" segment alongside the fan-favorites "News In A Minute" and "Nate's Corner" segments.
Reviews for the week: Kull #4 and Secret Warriors #1.
Cold Storage review: Uncanny X-Men #207
Issue 10 - The Happening!
2009/01/30
In Issue 10 , Spence's computer strikes back for some kind words about Nicolas Cage, and the original podcast - widely considered by those present to be the single greatest podcast of all time, a work of art so staggering it makes the Sistine Chapel look like it was painted with hobo poo - is promptly erased and deleted by the computer.
On take two, we angrily burn through the podcast in record time, as well as introduce two new segments.
Reviews for the week: Marvels - Eye Of The Camera #3, and The Umbrella Academy - Dallas #3.

Issue 8 - Fun with Jick and Dane
2009/01/19

We also go over the top 10 collected editions and graphic novels as well as the top 10 single issues of 2008.
Reviews for the week: Action Comics #873, BPRD - Black Goddess #1 and Solomon Kane #4.

2009/01/03
We go over some of the exciting comics coming to hit your newsstands in the coming year.

Reviews for the week: Incognito #1, Kick-Ass #5 and BeanWorld Holiday Special. Also, if you want to download this podcast, you can right-click the link above and "save link as."

Reviews this week: Wonderful Wizard of Oz #1, Invincible #56, and Batman Confidential #24. ***Editor's note: Spencer mistakenly says that Wizard of OZ should be played with Pink Floyd's "The Wall," when he clearly meant to say "Dark Side of the Moon," He plays the right album, just didn't say the right name***
