Our podcast this week explores the story of Cain and Abel from the Bible, found in Genesis 4. We look at how this tale, about two brothers and their offerings to God, reflects the importance of faith. We'll also discuss the destructive nature of bitterness, using both the story of Cain and current examples like the recent Anti-Israel college protests, to illustrate the thread of bitterness on individuals and society.

Genesis 5 meticulously documents the lineage from Adam to Noah, contrasting the extraordinary lifespans of hundreds of years with the ordinary act of generational succession. This genealogy introduces Enoch, a figure described as walking with God and possibly an author, while also prompting reflection on inherited blessings and curses. In Genesis 3, we encounter the story of humanity's first sin. This act of disobedience fractured our connection with God, impacting our spiritual, physical, social, and psychological well-being. Since then, we've been on a quest to mend these broken pieces, often seeking fulfillment in ways that ultimately leave us empty. In this discussion, we'll explore what happens when we pursue community without the foundation of faith, and how it can leave us longing for something more.

As we dive deeper into Genesis, we see a patter emerge that shows humanity's propensity for attempting to get back to the Garden of Eden, without the God of Eden. Many times this looks like reclaiming lost innocence, immortality and intimacy through worldly means. We discuss a few of these topics through the lens of modern technology and the challenges that come with it. We also include a quick update on current events in Israel.
