Remixed Remodelled and Reinvented 9
2010/03/15
Info (Show/Hide)
This mix was completed in October 2009 and brings together several influences. These include Jake Kilby, Luke Leal and tracks I heard whilst playing midweek pool at an inner city pub.
Push Up/Word Up and Shine On are personal favourite tracks, though White Rabbit and Isomnia really bring the mix home. Silence gets another run on my mixes, though this variation highlights different aspects of the track.
Enjoy!

Wow, I love this mix. This isn't a comment on my djing, but more on the quality of the tracks I was working with. Britney gets a minor introduction, closely followed by a great version of Magic Carpet Ride by the Dub cats.
Typical of the mixes I do, it weaves in and out of great songs from era's past (some not too distant) that have been remixed, or played with by great producers and yours truly.
The stand outs from this mix include: She's a lady, Love is in the air and Flower duet (thank you for that one Warren Gluck - circa late 1990's).
Lay back, relax and soak it up.
Remixed Remodelled and Reinvented 1
2009/07/19
Info (Show/Hide)
The first in the RRR series, completed in early June 2007, however due to a couple of tracks I wasn't happy with, I remixed the same tracks in July 2009 to present it in its current form. To be fair on the original mix, I kept the tracks in the same order.
This slightly mix contains standout track after standout track. The intro from Ronald Reagan is a clever one liner, with numerous following tracks making a comment on the political flavour of the times. One of my all time favourites continues to be Rob Searle's mix of "The Power Of Love", though there is a plethora of songs to get you moving.
The tracks that got wiped in the 2009 update were:
Light Years - Kylie Minogue
So Fabulous So Fierce
Funkatarium - Jump
The current track listing stands as:
Intro - Ronald Reagan
The tide is high - Blondie (Sand dollar Mix)
American Pie - Madonna (Victor Calderone Dub mix)
Atomic - Blondie (Diddy's 12' Mix)
The power of love - Frankie goes to Hollywood (Rob Searle club mix)
Lady bump - Offer Nissim (Victor Calderone Club anthem mix)
Reach up - Perfecto allstars
What it feels like for a girl - Madonna (Paul Okenfeld remix)
Enola Gay - OMD (Dancefloor killa remix)
Just can't get enough - Depeche Mode (Tribal remix 2005)
Shout - Tears for fears (DJ Alex tribal Mix)
Voices / Cars - The Police vs Gay Numan (White label mix)
Satellite of love - Lou Reed vs Groovefinder
Rocket Man - Elton John (Junior Vasquez remix)
Sail Away - Enya (Tiesto In search of sunnrise mix)
I hope you enjoy the mix as much as I did (and still do).
Remixed Remodelled and Reinvented 5
2009/07/16
Info (Show/Hide)
The 5th in my RRR series and probably my best and all time favourite mix from this collection way back then. Some of my personal faves include Blondie, Beach Boys (what an awesome mix!) and even a bit of Billy Idol. Gabriel and Dresden's mix of "Don't leave home" is the best Dido mix I have heard and contains a wonderful build up. Subtitled "Bring on the drums", this episode has a considerable amount of bass loops to keep the feet moving, along with plenty of chorus's to sing or humm along with. The lead into "Heart of glass", followed by the epic beginning to "Where the streets have no name" continues to get me to crank the volume up when I give the mix a spin.
"She don't like that" should bring a memory back for those Sydney residents (Manly Ferry - Circular Quay) around 40+ years.
Enjoy and comment!

This is a podcast all about electronic music. Set roughly in the 120 -130bpm zone, with a few road trips outside of this, these mixes draw on songs of the past, integrated with the occasional sounds of now or thereabouts.
