James Bond does not quite trade in his Aston Martin for a sled and eight tiny reindeer, but he does show up at Christmas time with some presents for your stockings. Following a long tradition of unconventional Christmas Selection for the December MOTM, James Wilson of "Blogging By Cinema Light" suggested, and the community voted for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", the sixth 007 adventure. Matthew Simpson of the "Awesome Friday Podcast" joins the show to talk about the new Bond, George Lazenby, the best Bond girl Diana Rigg, and whether this really is a Christmas movie. We never need much encouragement here to talk about a Bond film, and the three people on the show have lots of opinions. James provided a game as well and our exit question concern the 007 franchise. You don't need all the time in the world, just about 90 minutes will get you in the 007 Christmas Spirit.

This week is a recommendation show, with a slight spin. We are looking for films to recommend for the upcoming holidays, but we want some less well known movies. So we will Skip "It's a Wonderful Life", " Christmas Vacation " , "A Christmas Story" and instead look for What can be discovered on Netflix, TCM, the Criterion Channel or Tubi? Maybe there is a great Treasure from the sixties that no one knows about, or a Hallmark movie that is actually worth ninety minutes of your time.

Twenty four years after being asked by Maximus "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?", we are asking the same question about the legacy sequel "Gladiator II". Director Ridley Scott returns to the floor of the Coliseum to once again entertain us with battles, violence, political intrigue and even some returning characters. Daniel Chadwick-Shubat of Get Reel Movies, Aaron Neuwirth from We Live Entertainment, and Nicole Ayers of the MadLabPost are here to let you know what they thought of this extravaganza of Roman mayhem and pseudo history. Russell Crowe is not back, but his persona hangs over this film in so many ways. Is Denzel Washington enough to make this movie satisfy the crowd? You will have to watch and listen to find out.

OK, we did not get to this on opening weekend, but there seems to be enough interest to sustain the theatrical run for a couple of weeks. 'For The Rest Of Your Lives, There Will Be Before You Listen And There Will Be After. Lambs, Verbally Acknowledge Please.' Heretic is the A24 Psychological Horror film starring Hugh Grant, cast against type as an intellectually curious potential convert to the Mormon faith. We have two sisters and two elders joining the show this week in the spirit of the Later Day Saints which comes in for examination.
Lisa Leaheey loves her horror movies, will she love this one? Nicole Ayers is not a horror fan, will she choose door number 2? James Wilson is also not a horror fan, but he may be susceptible to Mr. Reed's lecture. Howard Casner is a skeptic of everything, and we will find out if he is too jaded to enjoy the film. We do a little criticism of casting against type in other films and suggest some non-traditional casting of our own. So as Monty Hall might ask, which door do you choose?

By an overwhelming vote, Josie and the Pussycats was chosen as the MOTM for November. This widely misunderstood 2001 release has acquired a much stronger reputation over the pat two decades. The satirical edge of the movie and it's meta-approach was largely ignored in the marketing of the film on it's release. Our herd of LAMBs this week however have made note of it's wicked insight into pop culture and music and we have some pretty strong positive opinions to share. Todd Liebenow, Bubbawheat and the Vern join the show and "Pretend to be Nice". For us the three small words are "This Movie's Great".

It's spooky season on the Lambcast, Halloween is coming and horror films are everywhere. We got a request a few weeks ago for a show that focuses on earlier horror films so it seemed like the right time for another draft episode. This week we have some incredibly strange creatures who stopped living and became mixed up movie bloggers. There are a few reasons that we limited the entries to this time period. First, that was the suggestion from a listener that prompted the episode to begin with. A second reason is that I am looking for films that don’t always get covered during the season. Let's try to broaden our tastes. Another reason is that 1973 marked a transition in horror films with “The Exorcist” breaking out of the horror ghetto and becoming a mainstream success. And finally, this limitation means that I don’t have to engage one more time in an argument over whether or not “Jaws” is a Horror film. Aaron Neuwirth, Howard Casner, David Brook, Dave Anderson, and Todd Liebenow enjoy a "spirited" competition over their favorite older horror movies. Frankly, it is horrifying when the film you want is chosen right before your turn, listen to Howard scream repeatedly if you want proof.

The October MOTM is a horror film, in recognition of Halloween and this year we have a truly frightening film, but still with a lot of humor. It comes from director Sam Rami, so that mixture will be no surprise to the deadites out there, but this film does not feature Bruce Campbell. Instead, we get Alison Lohman, being physically and mentally abused as a curse threatens to take her to hell via a violent lamia. Matthew Simpson of the Awesome Friday Podcast was the movie's champion, and he takes over the hosting duties. Damien Riley of "But I Digress" spends a lot of time admiring Miss Lohman in the film, and we talk about out favorite horror film directors as well. Plenty of spoilers, but with a film titled "Drag Me to Hell" you have a pretty good idea of what is coming.

The polarizing dram project from Francis Ford Coppola has arrived in cinemas and thew Lambcast i9s there to talk about it. This week's episode is filled with a range of opinions, some of the guests found the movie abysmal, while others heaped high praise on it's artistry. One of the group gets yelled at for praising the film while not giving it a recommendation. We had no shortage of options. Daniel Lackey, Howard Casner, James Wilson and Aaron Neuwirth share their ideas, opinions and feelings, and isn't that what we all come here for? It is certainly not to check out any boners.

The September Movie of the Month was chosen by James Wilson of "Blogging by Cinema Light". His choice of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" comes after three previous attempts with narrow losses. This week was no competition and James hosts the show. He is joined by Damien Riley of "Riley on Film" and also by Matthew Simpson from "The Awesome Friday Podcast". Mr. Smith is one of the ten nominees for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, from 1939, a year that is considered the greatest in American Film History. Two of the people on this week's episode are veterans of the film, but the other two saw it for the first time this week. Come listen to us talk about this Classic film and why it is timeless and essential.

This week on the show we summon the legacy sequel to the 1988 Tim Burton film, "Beetlejuice". Burton comes out of directing sabbatical to reteam with his muse Michael Keaton. They are joined by returning cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara for a journey to the next world. The film is already a big hit, but does it deserve to be? Emily Slade, Rachel Wagner and The Vern huddle up to discuss the merits and faults of "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice". WE also discuss some film makers with distinctive styles and pick out our favorite Tim Burton films.

This week is a do it yourself show. The five Lambs have assembled individual lists of movie related subjects and we share them in a Top Five Round Robin. Thomas Stoneham Judge is TIFF bound so his list features Audience favorites over the years. Howard Casner answers the question Tubi or not Tubi. Tony Coogan is not satisfied with a movie, he wants to see it on stage as well. Todd Liebenow is stuck in the 80s, but at least he has the Mall to hang out in. Finally, Richard is trying to score some tickets to the latest concert by a whole set of acts, but is having trouble finding their tour schedules.

It is the 50th Anniversary of "The Towering Inferno", and enough members of the community thought that was a justification to vote for it in this month's poll. It turns out, we did this as a MOTM back in 2016, and for the moment, that is a lost episode. This episode is not lost and Dave Anderson from "Free Kittens Movie Guide" hosts the discussion. James Wilson and Matthew Simpson join the cast for this explosive disaster film from 1974.

The Alien Franchise has been around for forty-five years now, and there have been ups and downs along the way. Fede Alverez, the director of the "Evil Dead" re-boot and "Don't Breathe" has been given the reins and our cast this week is ready to chime in on his work. We go spoiler free for the first half hour, but if you have seen the original film, there is nothing here that will surprise you. Heather Baxendale-Walsh, Lisa Leaheey and Damien Riley are all horror mavens, so Alvarez starts with a loaded deck, come find out how well we thought he played his hand.

Six Lambs enter, One Lamb Leaves, at least if the community votes. This is a draft show with six slates of films, competing for your approval. Damien Riley, Aaron Neuwirth, Todd Liebenow, The Vern, Howard Casner and Richard Kirkham, struggle to choose from all the 1984 films available, to come up with a winning team. No doubt this will be one of the big films of the Summer for 2024. Whether or not it deserves to be is the subject of our conversation on the Lambcast this week. Jeffrey Lyles from Lyles Movie Files, Bubba Wheat from Flights, Tights and Movie Nights and Pop Art's Howard Casner, join the show to mouth off about the two mouthiest superheroes in comic book films. The show is PG-13 but the movie is definitely an R. The spoiler wall comes down early (about 15 minutes in) and then you will hear plot talk, cameo appearances, and assorted other secrets of this hybrid Disney/Fox MCU film.

Nostalgia for 1984 runs rampant in this week's episode as we check in on "The Last Starfighter". Matthew Simpson hosts the conversation as the champion of the film, but Richard and Todd Liebenow are right there with him as we trapse down memory lane. Tony Coogan provides a perspective on the film from a first time watcher just a few weeks ago. So join us as we tout 80s Digital effects, heartwarming story elements and the great contributions of two film veterans to a teen Sci-Fi film from one of the great years in movies.

It only feels right that the Lambcast guests this week are of an age that they actually remember the Moon landing in 1969. Everyone else will of course remember Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, two actors not born when the film they have made was set. A romantic comedy based on the loopy conspiracy theory that the Moon Landing was faked? Are we going to be pissed off, or charmed? You will have to listen to Howard Casner and James Wilson as they join Richard for this Trip to the Moon.

This week we try to catch up with some movies that we haven't been able to cover in the last two months. Jeffrey Lyles, Tony Coogan and the Vern join the show to share the ups and downs of recent cinema encounters. If you are looking for a "Hit Man" or want a date with "Maxxxine", this is the place to be this week. So have some "Robot Dreams" while you are working the "Night Shift", a "Young Woman and the Sea" could do worse than these "Kinds of Kindness, ask "Axel F".

The first of at least three and maybe four films covering the expansion of the U.S. into the west, is the subject of our show this week. Actor/Writer/Director Kevin Costner has an ambitious story to tell and a huge canvas to paint it on. It may be a financial gamble but the three people on this week's episode don't think it is anything less than an artistic triumph. If you have heard differently, you owe it to yourself to listen to this point of view, we were all enthusiastic.

This week we have three characters talking about three characters. Howard Casner and James Wilson mount up on their hogs to join Richard as we take a trek into the past with Jeff Nichol's "The Bikeriders". Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer and Austin Butler portray the three main characters in the story and we have some fun with their accents. The screenplay comes in for some tough scrutiny and the question comes up "Is there a story or is this an anthropology lesson?" We Finish off with a Viggo Mortenson Western, some TUBI talk, and a Maxxxine preview. Check your tank to make sure you have enough gas to get through the whole episode.

Lots of emotions on this show, most of which did not get a character in the movie. "Surprise" should have been here from the beginning, "Frustration" was shadowing Nicole as she got locked out of the film not once but twice. "Confusion showed up when Damien joined the show an hour in, and "Disappointment" hovered around Rachel and Richard, despite the fact they generally liked the movie. Join us for a very loosely structured discussion of "Inside Out 2". You might have a little "Anxiety" when you listen to some of the tangents we take, but you will be filled with "Joy" when you listen to the answers to the exit question of the week.

We are doing a deep dive on the films of 1998 this week, and we have some springboard champs to do a triple somersault for you. Brian Eggert, David Brook, Dave Anderson are with us live and Matthew Simpson and Aaron Neuwirth offer opinions from another dimension.

The "senior" staff at the Lambcast check out the new entry in the Mad Max Cycle (Motorcycle that is) of films. It takes two actresses to replace Charlize Theron, so the movie has some pretty distinct sections. We talk structure, action sequences and story and we get side tracked a couple of times on tech issues, but it's all very educational. The exit question of the week involves car stunts, maybe one you like was mentioned. Damien Riley, Daniel Lackey and James Wilson share their takes with Richard on George Miller, drug use for movie viewing and runtimes. This week at least the podcast is shorter than the movie.

This week the crew of the pirate ship "Lambcast" plunders the internet for movie content that is hard to find, off the beaten path, or just ignored by too many sailors. You will discover easy to locate movies where X clearly marks the spot, but there are also movies that you will need to walk off ten paces, face the sun, and dig in five directions to locate. Dave Anderson, Howard Casner, Nicole Ayers and The Vern, join this expedition to dig up pieces of eight that you might have missed. So come aboard and bring your cutlass. The alternative is walking the plank and being left out.

Summer Season starts early in the movie industry. This week the Lambcast takes a look at the studios first pitch, "The Fall Guy". Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are the stars of this romantic comedy that is disguised as an action mystery film. We have two opinions that are polar opposites and two in the middle that admire some aspects of the film, but find that it falls short on occasion. We talk about star chemistry, whether CGI undermines the stunts, needle drops and the humor. The spoiler wall is up until minute 44, so you are safe to proceed until then.

After a tight vote the rebooted "Planet of the Apes" Franchise was chosen for the April MOTM. Charlton Heston will not be making an appearance, at least not as a featured player in today's podcast. Roddy McDowell will not be trying on a leisure suit or leading a revolution of house pets in any of the films we talk about today. The star of these movies is clearly Andy Serkis, who plays the ape Caesar, in a motion capture performance in all three films: Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes. Matthew Simpson of the Awesome Friday Podcast is the host, he is joined by Nicole Ayers and Sean Homrig (for most of the show) as well as Richard. Get ready to go Ape for these movies.

The show goes on without the regular host, but with reliable guest host Howard Casner, herding the Lambs through a discussion of 1967, in films and the industry. Aaron Neuwirth, David Brook and Todd Liebenow share a lot of movies that came out in 1967, few of which would have been coming to your mind when you first heard the year to be covered. Drive-In fare, Spaghetti Westerns, and French films fill the episode. So maybe "The Graduate" didn't make anyone's list, there are still a couple you will recognize, and a bunch you will now want to see. Surprisingly, Richard gets some films on the list even with being absent.

This week on the LAMBcast, we take on that pebble in the shoe, the itch we can't reach, the sigh of frustration heard in line, the spoiler. You are being warned, this episode is out to deliberately spoil some films, complain about the spoiling of others and generally let film fans vent. We all love movies with a twist that works, and we share a few of those, so be careful. James Wilson from "Blogging by Cinema Light", Howard Casner from "Pop Art", and MovieRob, from his own site and podcasts join the show with thoughts about movie spoilers.

This week, the Lambcast tries trapping a new movie in our containment vault, the fifth film in the Ghostbusters Franchise (although some acknowledge only 4), "Frozen Empire". The new cast of Ghostbusters from "Afterlife" return to NYC and take up the family business. The Legacy Cast shows up in a variety of spots to check all the boxes, and having insured a PG-13 rating, we get a Supernatural Adventure film, which may be straying a bit from the roots of the franchise. Does it work, should you spend your money to see it, will you laugh? You will just have to listen to Matt Hudson, Lisa Leaheey and Todd Liebenow to find out.

Well it happened again, The Vern won the Movie of the Month Poll and we got a film that is likely to be divisive. Exactly the way Vern wants it. "The Neon Demon" is a 2016 film from "Drive" director Nicolas Winding Refn. It may be a cautionary tale about the fashion industry, it may be a horror film, or it may simply be repulsive. Matthew Simpson, James Wilson and The Vern have very different views of the film. Whether or not you want to hang a single frame from the film on your wall as art, will depend first on whether you can stomach some of the ideas and scenes in the movie. Beauty isn't everything. It's the only thing. Are you high?

Like it's predecessor, Dune Part 2 was delayed from it's original release date, but only seemed to gain in interest as it moved further away. It has arrived and Nicole Ayers, Matthew Simpson, Nick Rehak and Thomas Stoneham Judge are all anxious to share their thoughts. Find an appropriate theater, lookback on previous Dune projects, and get ready for some enthusiasm from this week's guests. Most of us are already hankering for another trip to Arrakis.

Martin Scorsese’s Dark Comedy from 1983 was selected by the community after a close contest with the Cohen Brothers movie on the list. We talk Blindspots, performances, social implications and DeNiro, a lot. Todd Liebenow, Matthew Simpson and Nick Rehak have lots to say about this Scorsese flop that as acquired a patina of respect over the years. We also play a fast game of Lambpardy and discuss DeNiro and Scorsese apart from one another.

Everyone was asked to bring 5 films to talk about today. How they chose them was completely up to the guest. Heather Baxendale Walsh dives into her Nostalgia Bucket, Will Slater goes for Neo Noir, Nicole Ayers likes Nostalgia in Genres, and David Brook has a rag tag collection of, well stuff. Richard uses his Laserdisc Collection once more to filter his choices. We only had two films overlap, and a quick substitution allowed a replacement, so there are 24 different movies on this weeks show. If you are a fan of animated movies, you will want to hear Will's choice on the exit question of the week.

Matthew Vaughn's newest spy franchise comes under scrutiny this week on the LAMBcast. Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Henry Cavill, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O'Hara, Bryan Cranston, and a host of others, what could go wrong? Surprisingly, quite a bit, although the film also had it's defenders on the show this week. Lisa Leaheey, Howard Casner, James Wilson and Amanda Kirkham take on espionage, plot twists, wonky CGI and assorted other issues in this week's episode.

The Popular Format is back for this week's episode as we welcome back, Will Slater, Nick Rehak, Nicole Ayers and Howard Casner to check in on what has been drawing their eyeballs recently. There are some obscure gems on the show but also well loved blockbusters and classics. We start off with a little Academy Award talk over perceived slights and then we finish up with an exit question, befitting the format of the show. How can you resist? Hello Everyone, and welcome to the dystopia that is Episode 719. I’m your Host Judge Kirkham. Every Month on the Lambcast, we have a movie put forward by a member and voted on in a poll, to be the MOTM. For January, that Movie is “Dredd”, the 2012 action dystopia featuring Karl Urban as the masked executioner of Justice. In addition to myself, we have three other Jurists on the show today, to dispense sentences on the perpetrators of this film. Listen and be Judged. Also, Sequels that we really wanted to see.

The frigid weather seems to have kept most of the sheep in their mangers this week, but Todd Liebenow came out to the pasture to play with us. So we end up with two guys over Fifty, talking about a movie that is targeted to Girls under 20. Not to worry, also opening this week was a film targeting Guys and probably even older audiences, so it all balances out. "Mean Girls 2024" gets its musical bona fides checked and Jason Statham continues to cut through bad guys like John Wick looking for a new dog. A brief show this week, but fun to listen to.

Between the guests on the show this week, there were 37 different films that made our Top Ten Lists. The number goes up even higher when you add in the lists submitted to the show by those that could not be with us live. There is a wide range of opinions on some of the films, in fact if we were doing a 10 worst list, some films from this show would overlap. The Lambs are nothing if not diverse when it comes to their opinions. The show this week is epic, with guests Tony Coogan, Latoya Austin, Howard Casner and Rishabh Vashishtha joining Richard for the discussion. We had lots to talk about and we talked a lot.

A bucketload of films get dumped on the silver screen in December, and we never have time to cover all of them, but we do want to try. This week, seven Lambs share the last minute gifts (and lumps of coal) that they caught up with at the close of 2023. A couple of streaming films sneak in, there is plenty of Oscar Bait, and there are several pleasant surprises. We also talk briefly about the films of the year that disappointed us. It's a loose format this week, but you will find plenty to enjoy.

The community selected this film from all the December releases, to be the new film that we cover for the month. Tony Coogan and Jay Cluitt return from 200 episodes ago, when we talked about the original "Chicken Run", but we are also joined by Rachel Wagner, back for a third week in a row and James Wilson, who is filling out the show completely. This is the sequel we have waited 23 years to hatch, was it worth all that time on the nest? Our guests will let you know what they think, as we dive into "Dawn of the Nugget" and some other stop motion films as well.

High School Pressures, The Christmas Pageant, Repressive Teachers, Unrequited Love, Dancing, Singing, Christmas and Zombies, "Anna and the Apocalypse" has it all. This week, we have your Christmas Movie of the Month and you are going to love it as much as we did. Howard Casner Championed the film and he hosts a discussion of Zombie etiquette and choreography. Rachel Wagner and the Vern join in to talk about this 2018 release that deserves a cult status that it has yet to achieve.

The November Movie of the Month is the 2002 Sci-Fi Action film from Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise. Pre-Crime is the topic and the questions are plentiful. Bubbawheat was the champion of the film and he leads us through a discussion of the U.S. Constitution, Determinism, Free will and eye surgery. The films innovations and prescient technology is acknowledged but so are the plot holes and tech that the film makers got wrong. This week we get back to talking about new movies, and it is the time of the year that the cream begins to rise to the top. Director Alexander Payne is a two time Academy Award winning screenwriter, and a three time directing nominee, so when he shows up with a new film, it seems likely to be talked about in the awards season. "The Holdovers" features a cranky history teacher at a remote prep school who is forced to remain on campus over the holidays with a troubled student who has no place to go. Nicole Ayers, Howard Casner and Rachel Wagner serve detention with Richard this week.

"What's your favorite scary movie?", As we gather at this seance to summon the films we most want to talk about, we will metaphorically join hands, close our eyes and open ourselves to the voices from the other side. Sitting at the table with their fingers on the planchette, waiting to ask their questions of the dead, and argue with the living are several LAMbs who have dug out some horror movies for you to explore. Everyone had to find films for five different subgenres, a couple of which were challenging to this week's guests. "It's Halloween. I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare."

Mysterious disappearances of Lambs from the Podcast, draw eerily strange comparisons to the story told in the latest work from Director Martin Scorsese. The surviving Lambs may draw suspicions as you hear their thoughts on the highly anticipated movie. Is Leo getting too old for some parts? Can DeNiro pass for 45? Where did all these incredible faces come from, both native American and white? Some of these questions get an answer, some will linger in your mind for days. Despite Recounts and pleas to investigate voting irregularities, Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein is indeed the MOTM for our October Horror Film. This surprise winner was championed by James Wilson of Blogging by Cinema Light and he hosts the discussion of this Comedy/Horror classic from 1948. You get three Monsters, two comedians and five Lambs talking about Universal Monsters, Vaudeville, Boris Karloff and a bunch of fun stuff you have to listen to to find out. We have a short game and a list of Horror Comedies to finish off the show. So this year, less dismemberment and more Laughs. Happy Halloween.

So in revisiting 2013, some of us might have had a theme, some may just have picked randomly but in sharing our lists there is a pattern. Round Robin with the Pineapple Kiosk Rule in place. David Brook, Todd Liebenow, and Howard Casner join the show and they have that 20/20 vision that hindsight usually provides. If ten years ago is just your ticket, you might be surprised at the films this weeks guests came up with. Also, the Exit Question this week provokes a few rants.

This week you don’t have to get out of your Lazy Boy, or buy a ticket to a movie. You can also skip digging out your physical media, you don’t need to dust off a VCR, or heat up a DVD player or Blu Ray, all you need to be a part of this show is an Internet Connection and a Streaming Service, you may not even need a paid subscription. That’s because on this week's show we are focusing entirely on films made for Streaming Services. Nicole Ayers, James Wilson and Tony Cogan join the Lambcast to talk about Streaming movies that are worth your time (and some that are not).

For as long as there has been a Lambcast, there have been games played on the show. Sometimes the game is skipped because of time or some other reason, but that will not be the case on this week's show. This episode is all games all the time. There are Five intriguing and fun games that you can play along with, there is even a game in deciding the order of the games and finally, the exit question of the week keeps the theme going. We have gathered five souls together to conduct a séance of our own. We are trying to reach not a person but a conclusion. Is the third Hercule Poirot film from director Kenneth Branagh a wake for a dead franchise, or a celebration and resurrection of a well loved character? Two Lambs fell out of the show but three others joined at the last minute to make up the group that is reaching out to the dead this week.

This week is Movie of the Month Week for September. Jeanette Ward has championed a Sci Fi Teen Comedy to the pole position, but that may not tell you enough to guess the movie, because in 1985, within two weeks of each other, three films opened with that description. Our film is "Real Genius" which features the genius of comic performances from Val Kilmer. College students at a science/technology based elite school get into hijinks, and our LAMBs this week do the same. Come listen to Rachel Wagner, James Wilson and Jeanette as we try to fathom the mysteries of math and tanning parties. Howard Casner takes over on the show as Richard is traveling this week, and he welcomes in a group of Lambs with a wide variety of interests. They take you from Short Films to Capra Films and throw in a little Ray Harryhausen along the way. We welcome Daniel Chadwick-Shubat into the flock and old hands Stephen Palmer, Nicole Ayers and David Brook also plan ahead to what they will be watching Next.

Balloons, Fireworks, Dance Numbers and spectacular productions featuring celebrities! We have none of that this week, our 700th Episode celebration is more muted but nevertheless still interesting. A few of the hosts of the LAMBcast get together to talk about old times, Lampardy Cheating, and how the podcast has developed. We are joined by a couple of Lambs for some games, one of which you can participate in, just by listening, and we got a last minute addition to the show, at literally the last minute. Our Decade Lookback this week is for the year 1978. So put on your disco shoes, line up for a cup of Kool Aid and get ready to hear about some great movies.

Flying swordsmen, deadly assassins, duel handed weapons and Chinese History, this movie has all sorts of things that should make you want to listen. The Podcast has Tony Coogan, Howard Casner and guest host Heather Baxendale-Walsh, so that should also make you want to listen. Wirework, subtitles and cinematography are on the menu for our talk this week about the seminal martial arts film from prolific Chinese Director Yimou Zhang. Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung and Ziyi Zhang take us on an incredible trip with visuals that will dazzle.

The Lamb Community voted for Meg 2:The Trench to be the new feature we cover in August. Was that a wise choice? Maybe not. You expected the film to be dumb fun, but were you expecting just dumb? The Lambs on this episode are bouncing around it, some might give it the benefit of the doubt, others would put it as far down in the Trench as it can go. This week, you get a short show because after all, how much stupid can you take? You do get a Meg Adjacent Game and the exit question of the week, so that is worth your time for sure.

It's summertime and the viewing is easy. All you need are some recommendations and a little chat to go along with your choices. This week, Four Lambs have some discussion about Double Features and Drive-In Theaters, and then we program an evening for you. Everybody is enthusiastic about their suggestions, some of us have themes, some included a whole set of extras, but you can treat it like a cafeteria, take what you want and personalize it for yourself. The discussion includes a little nostalgia, a lot of movies, and four people who you will enjoy listening to, so come on, buy a ticket and stay for both features.

The biggest blockbuster opening of the year features a doll that has been with us for sixty-five years and dozens of animated movie, but is finally a live action character. How did the transition turn out artistically? That's what we discuss on this episode of the Lambcast. There is a lot of love for Barbie, the movie, but we had one curmudgeon who certainly dampened the mood during the show. Come listen and find out why so many were so happy, and so few were so disappointed. Oh, and don't forget to wear pink while you listen.

Drug dealing aliens and interstellar law enforcement officers find their way to Earth in this 1990s time killer. Mark Hofmeyer championed a movie that made him feel good after some arduous viewing for his job, let's see if you can lean into the film and get some relaxing vibes from it as well. Dolph Lundgren stars as a rule breaking rogue cop, and he is partnered with a straight laced FBI agent, Brian Benben, as they go after a yuppie crime gang. Things start to go awry when 7 foot tall aliens intervene. Yep it's that kind of movie. We only have terrestrial a-holes on the show, but we do talk about the space a-holes plenty.

This week, the Lambs create their own individual lists, with some surprises along the way. Multiple New Waves, an overlooked director, changing opinions on films and a host trapped in the 70s, this is what you have in store when you listen to this episode. The Exit Question of the Week addresses the issues from last week's canceled show, and we have a game that was not challenging at all.

Wes Anderson films are definitely different. Some people can't get enough, and some can only tolerate so much. This week we have a range of opinions on "Asteroid City". There are existential questions about the script, the actors and the style, and only a couple of points seem to create unity of thought. This is just the sort of conversation you want to have with your friends after seeing a movie and getting together in a coffee shop afterwards to dissect it. Howard Casner from Pop Art offers his insights and they are contrasted with Rachel Wagner's doubts about the plot. Rachel brought her friend Conrado Falco to the show for his first visit to the Lambcast. “You can’t wake up, if you don’t fall asleep.”

A troubled star, a staggering franchise, a corporate shake up, and guess what, the film is actually really good. A full contingent of our own superheroes take on "The Flash", the newest DC Comic Book film, and we find lots to recommend, including the lead performance and the return of "Batman". This is a multiverse film in a world overrun by multiverse movies, but there are some strong emotional moments, and best of all, some laughs to be had. We have a cast of guests that is rich in comic lore to guide you through the Universe and help you come out on the other side with as little damage to your own universe as possible.

June carves out a niche to insure that we discuss a female directed film, and this month we have one from only the third woman from the sound era to direct a Hollywood movie. Elaine May was a comic, an actor and the comedy partner of Mike Nichols. Her directing vita is narrow but filled with interesting, if not always successful films. Naturally to celebrate women making movies, we have five guys talking about this month's selection. Mikey and Nicky is an unusual gangster film, and it provokes wide ranging opinions, which you will hear on this episode. Don't wait for a towel to drop from the sky, this is the spot where you can find the podcast.

This week we go Back to the Future, it's 1985 and there are films you may not have heard about, seen, or caught up with yet. Marty and Doc Brown don't make it to the show but Dave Anderson, David Brook, Howard Casner and Todd Liebenow do. Eric Friedman was a guest two years ago when his second book was published, and now the third book in his trilogy is available. Kristen Lopez, a long time Lamb, and now an editor on "The Wrap", has partnered with TCM, and her book is a compendium of book and movie adaptions. Four Lambs enter, one Lamb leaves, that is after you vote for the Summer Season that you think is the Greatest. Dave Anderson leads off with what could be a knockout punch, but Todd Liebenow follows up with a strong right cross and Nick Rehak has a solid uppercut. The scheduled host who had championed "Fantasia" to victory in the poll, was unable to join the show, but we had four fans of the film who more than make up for that. Howard Casner takes a seat in the spot we keep warm for him and Bubbawheat remembers at the last minute that it is this week's show that he is scheduled for. We kept Doug Jamison from the Jam Report in Australia, up into the wee hours of the morning to discuss this lengthy concert film. The Guardians of the Lambcast show up this week to guide you through a trip to the theaters. Howard Casner wins the MOTM Franchise Poll for a second time, and he joins us for a deep dive into the themes and cultural influences of the four films made based on Jack Finney's 1954 science fiction novel. We talk Pod People, 50s conventionality, 70s paranoia, 90s youth emphasis and 2007's prescient contagion themes. If you think remakes are worthless, you should listen to a compelling argument that takes place during this show. There is consistency in our rankings, but some great talk about why those rankings are valid. Two Lambs who don't suck, show up to tell us if the new Nic Cage movie does. Former Host Jay Cluitt rises from the grave to give us his opinion and Howard Casner puts a stake in the heart of movie audiences and critics who don't get post modernism. "Renfield" is a vampire picture more interested in laughs than in horror, and this week we dig into whether or not that approach works. After an unintentional hiatus Lambpardy is back, and this time it's spooky! This is the first show in the third tournament year, and also the first of a mini horror tournament! There are hopefully two more horror-special shows to come, followed by a horror final with the winners of those three shows, and the champion from that show will go on to face two other second-round winners from non-horror themed shows, and the winner of that show will face the tournament winners from 2021 and 2022! This week, the Lambcast is Shanghaiing five of it's members for a pirate expedition to search for buried treasures. Movies that are hard to find or access were the subject under discussion, and everyone had tales of success and failure to share. The Tortuga of today appears to be YouTube, where many of the treasures were unearthed, although how many died to put them there is never revealed. We also have a relaxing interlude after the raid on non-streaming films, by talking about our favorite comedies as the exit question of the week. Join our crew or face getting keel hauled for being a landlubber.

It's the last week of the month so it seems like maybe we better get in the MOTM while there is still time. MovieRob hosts the show with his selection of the multiple Academy Award winning film from 1957, The Bridge on the River Kwai. This David Lean epic gets the full treatment from the guests as we talk about duty, right and wrong, power and control, and a whole host of subjects. There is a game of Last Lamb Standing and our exit question of the week gets five different takes. So follow General Yamashita's motto: be happy in your work.

Zach is back in the DCEU, no not that Zach, the other one, Zachary Levi, as the adolescent hero in a grown man's body, Shazam! Four years after making a winning introduction in the strange mix of DC heroes, the Champion with the power of the Gods returns, and the daughters of one of those Gods are none to pleased. Jeanette Ward and Amanda Kirkham are the guests this week as we spend a little time on the first film and then take a deep dive into the new entry. Now take the Staff and say my name.

Originally scheduled as an episode devoted to "65", this week's Lambcast both devolved an evolved into something a bit different. Three films were transplanted onto the shoulders of this episode and two people who saw all three get herded by someone who just saw one. Confused Yet? Wait till you hear us play a guessing game about Lambscores, when one of the guests didn't see two of the features. When the exit question comes up, don't be surprised at the strange directions we go, just make sure you never put lettuce on your PB with J. (or Jay)

Some of our guests have been dutifully attending screenings at movie theaters, some of us have plugged into TCM for 48 straight Hours, and some guests actually opened up some physical media and watched at home old school style. It doesn’t matter where or how your films were delivered, we want to know what kind of stuff we took the time with recently, and maybe whether you should be taking some time to follow suit.

Special programming this week on the Lambcast, as we engage in another Roll Your Own Top Five show. The participants pick their own subjects and create a top five list to share with us. This week we got movie lines, 80s Teen Films, Muppet Suggestions, Robert Aldrich love and some twins. This is a week where all kinds of things get thrown in the pot, and we got a savory stew of delicious movie talk as a result. Back to the MCU this week with the latest film featuring everyone's favorite ant-talking hero. Lots of questions get discussed, including "how much of the extended MCU are we going to need to know to keep up with these movies?" Our panel of guests try to guess everyone else's Lambscores, we have a game featuring miniaturization, and there is trailer talk about upcoming films. We start off small but keep getting bigger, including some love for Johnathon Majors.

February is Richard's Birthday month and this year, his frequently suggested title was finally voted into the Champion spot, 1975's "The Man Who Would be King". John Huston directs Sean Connery and Michael Caine in an adaption of Rudyard Kipling's story. The opinions on this film were not uniform but there was a great deal of admiration, and for one of our Lambs it was a first time watch. We also spent some time looking at the best and worst performances of these two stars, and our conclusion is that the movies were almost always the thing that was bad, rather than their performances. Valentine's Day invites us to speculate on Romantic Comedies this week. We have a serious discussion concerning the hate that many in our community have for the genre, and then we subvert that with recommendations and warnings. Six Lambs, 28 Movies, 2 hours and forty minutes, there is a lot going on this week on the Lambcast. Our popular Decade Lookback this week features the year 2002, and the guests have things to share. Some guilty pleasures are matched with some alternative Oscar winners and a fist full of documentaries. Take a deep dive into films from 21 years ago and also get a little Oscar talk at the end.

This week we are giving props to character actor Vincent D'Onofrio by having a draft show with some enthusiastic fans. D'Onofrio is instantly recognizable to most people as Private Pyle in Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket". That movie however was at the start of his career and we take a deep dive into a variety of films that he has appeared in to bring the wide range of his roles to your attention. Lisa Leahey gets the "I'm not worthy treatment from D'onofrio, and Heather Baxendale still gets to snag the movie she wanted away from her. We have a full complement of suspects to discuss the first feature film from the Coen Brothers. It is also the debut film of Frances McDormand. This is a deep in the heart of Texas Neo Noir that subverts location and the femme fatale tropes and gives us something new in the thriller field. Sean Homrig, as the champion of the film, hosts the discussion with longtime Lamb Daniel Lackey, back for an episode. Jess Manzo returns to her regular spot on the MOTM rotation, as does Nick Rehak. James Wilson puts a cap on the guest and leaves his lighter to prove he was here.

Take a chance on some films you have probably not heard of. Damien Riley, Howard Casner, Nicole Ayers, Todd Liebenow, and The Vern get out their maps to the unknown and suggest some destinations you might enjoy. Everybody can spin their compass dial and end up in a place you never expected.

Get ready for an epic show, almost as long as Avatar The Way of Water or Babylon. Five Lambs go round robin style through their Top Ten Lists for the year. The world's greatest detective with a weird Southern Accent, returns to solve another case involving rich assholes and low culture. The Lambcast goes slumming this week with a Netflix film that should have been a theatrical release but was only made available to cinemas for a week before it was banished to streaming. The original "Knives Out" had Jay Cluitt as it's biggest fan, and he returns along with Jeanette Ward, and Howard Casner, to discuss whether this sequel is worthy. You will have to listen to find out.

James Cameron finally delivers on the long promised sequel to his biggest hit ever. Avatar The Way of Water is naturally a visual delight but how does it hold up on all the other fronts. Heather Baxendale-Walsh joins Richard for a dialogue on the film which may be the biggest financial hit of the year, but is certainly a big risk when it comes to making their money back. It's Episode 666, so clutch your crucifix and get ready for a hell of a show.

Hope you don't want to jump off a bridge into a freezing river after listening.

For movie lovers. the Fabelmans is a dream come true. It is an autobiographical film by the most celebrated filmmaker of the last fifty years. Steven Spielberg takes on a fictionalized version of his own story, and who would not want to see what that looks like? This week, Howard Casner sits in as host and the praise is effusive but tempered by our resident curmudgeon. Michelle William, Paul Dano, Seth Rogan, Judd Hirsh and a surprise cameo, all get accolades from our group of guests. If you love movies and you love hearing people talk about movies, than there is no place else that you want to spend an hour and a half, except maybe a theater.

You are just in time for an appetizer, if you hurry, you can finish that before the main course begins. Travel and tech limitations resulted in this dish taking a while to get from the kitchen to your table, but the wait will be worth it. Howard Casner is your maître d for this episode as our guests partake in The Menu. Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicolas Hoult are the stars, but the real delectable moments are provided Tony Coogan, Lisa Leaheey, and James Wilson as the only reservations that arrived at the reservation time. Howard sets the table for them, but they provide the flavors. Listen to the show, you will absolutely want S'more.

What may turn out to be the biggest box office success of the MCU since Endgame becomes a unique episode of the Lambcast. We start off our discussion, not with the people who saw the film but with someone who did not. It was a conscious decision on their part and we get to hear what the reasoning was, and then we dive into the film talk, because obviously, we did not buy in. Persistence pays off as Jeanette Ward continued to submit this film until it won. This sequel to the widely remembered "The Fugitive" is itself widely forgotten, but not this week. An action film with the Marshal team reassembled in pursuit of a different fugitive seems like a perfect set up and when you add Wesley Snipes and Robert Downey Jr. , how could you miss? We debate whether this sequel hits the bullseye or misses the target, but everyone seemed to be glad to revisit this 1998 film. Come listen and find out why.

Dwayne Johnson enters the DCEU and made promises of changing the game, is that what happened? This week on the LAMBcast we discuss the new Comic Book film, "Black Adam" and try to figure out if this really is a step forward. The DC Universe continues to be pretty dark, and the villain seems superfluous until the end. There is a lot of CG to sparkle your eyes but is it in service of a story? For a third week in a row we feature a horror film on the Lambcast, a result of October being Halloween Season. Of course if there is a season for Halloween, there is a movie to go with it. Director David Gordon Green wraps up his trilogy reboot, reimagining, sequel, recalibration, whatever you want to call it, and the Lambcast chooses to roast the films like Michael Myers in Halloween 2018.

All three films come in for some criticism, and it looks like it is going to be a race to the bottom with "Halloween Kills" and "Halloween Ends" neck and neck on the road to oblivion. The Lambs this week were not shy about their distain for the choices made in these last two movies. Come and listen and decide for yourself. Has "Halloween" really ended?

October continues to be spooky here on the Lambcast as our Movie of the Month is "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" from Director Tobe Hooper in 1974. This is the one that introduced Leatherface to the world and made chainsaws an instrument of killers rather than just arborists. Five brave Lambs hitchhike with Richard to a remote podcast and face terror as we talk about one of the greatest horror films of all time. You may be surprised that the Three Stooges and Anton Chigurh make guest appearances in this episode, don't be, there is a reason. So hop in the van, bring your pocket knife, and remember, walking into someone else's house is not advisable.

October brings us three straight weeks of Horror on the Lambcast, starting with this low key entry featuring a terrific marketing campaign. After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can't explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality. Long time Lamb Darren Lucas returns to the show and joins Richard with newcomer Matt Hudson. The Trans-Atlantic conversation delves into horror, marketing and warning labels. So here's a warning: "Be Prepared" for a new episode of the Lambcast.

After a week off we are back with a film steeped in controversy for some pretty silly reasons. A psychological thriller that is overshadowed by production kerfuffle's and publicity missteps. "Don't Worry Darling" is the second film from director Olivia Wilde and the Lambcast crew is a bit uncertain if it is a step up or a step backwards, or simply a step too far. There are dreams of a better life, but who's dreams are they? Come find out if Harry Styles is dreamy or if Florence Pugh has to carry him.

It's Lambpardy time! Three more contestants are vying for the final spot in this year's semi-finals, and the last first-round show of the year is a doozy!
